Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe
Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe

Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe ($49.00 for 1.46 oz.) includes three palettes, each containing six eyeshadows and a cheek color. It is housed in a “hotel” box, and as you might expect if you’re familiar with Too Faced, it has good presentation for gift giving. The interior, of course, well, we’ll have to wait and see how everything wears. For now, here are swatches of the shades:

Yikes. This is why I’m always very skeptical of holiday palettes. They rarely seem to live up to the brand’s normal quality. Frankly, I don’t want more of something if it’s going to be mediocre in quality. That’s not a bargain, to me. Although I will say Cold Brew is stunning! I’d buy that in a single.

Oh wow, Peppermint Mocha looks bad and it seems like such a lovely color too. Only Central Perk and Gingersnap look great to me. The other shades look alright, except Black Coffee is reminding me of how MAC’s Carbon swatches

I really do believe these swatched make no justice on this set i have it and peppermint mocha does not swatch that chalky and bad other shades i got swatched way better than this

These are really cute, and very portable, but products are a mixed bag, and I’m not sure I want to smell Egg Nogg when I use the kit in summer time. As always, there’s 1 or 2 shades in each kit that I would love to have as a single. Will wait for your review

Hmm, some of the swatches look pretty patchy ?. Some of the colours look lovely but I’d be leery of buying something with so many patchy shades if indeed they do perform the same way on the eyes.

I ordered this already before seems like mattes need primer. This overall though I’d give a B- or B just front swatchs. The ones that are super pigmented make it so much more worth it. Peppermint palette seems to be the worst out of the three. The one I bought this for is eggnog and that green is stunning!!! Thank you so much for sharing.

Thankyou so much for these swatches I was waiting to see them! They really aren’t as pigmented as I thought and of course a makeup lover like me already has so many shades like these lol

Peppermint Mocha and Skinny Latte look so bad!!I like the fact that these smell like the Eggnog.Peppermint, and Gingerbread lattes but I doubt I’ll be buying this.Jarrod is having a giveaway of all the sets in the Christmas collection on Utube. It would be so awesome to win the whole collection.

I bought this palette as well, and I have to say mine swatches beautifully! I had no issues with patchiness. I’m thinking maybe you got a did Christine!

To be honest, I’ll probably end up purchasing this. The second and third palette are very much up my alley and I can work with them. Stiff mattes can be fixed with some denser (aka cheaper) blending brushes like the Elf one, and NYX Milk jumbo pencil is a lifesaver for patchy or glittery lid shades. I probably put in enough work with most of my single shadows and larger palettes to get the same effect already, so the effort doesn’t detract from the value of travel-size palettes! Plus, the blush and bronzer in the last two would look amazing on my skin. Now I just need to find someone who would wear bright pink on the lid so I can gift that one away…

This is the one holiday set that caught my eye the most from them all! How did you feel when swatching? Do you have any first impressions because I’d love to hear them!

Mariella Avatar

A few of the shadows seem to swatch really badly but there are several I really like – Coffee Chip, Cold Brew, Cup of Joe – I love me those browns – and also Central Perk. Might wait to see if I have dupes or I might just break down and buy (I hope the shadows I like are all in the same palette and then I can give the others as gifts but with my luck, there will be one of the ones I love in EACH of the palettes!)

Temptalia! Can you give a little information on which of the TooFaced Holiday collections you would recommend first? Like, if we were to only grab one, which would you recommend? the Grand Hotel Cafe, the Chocolate Shoppe (Sephora) or the Macaron one (ulta)? It’d be much appreciated!??!

Is it just me or have they practically regurgitated last years products but with New York instead of Paris? Between this set, the naughty kisses and sweet cheeks and the park avenue kisses. Fair enough the shades might be different but I feel like they could have pushed the boat out a bit here 🙁

Well, I bought this set sight unseen from Ulta online. I always prefer to buy in person and now I remember why (wanted to use my 5X Ulta points on Too Faced promo, though). This set stinks, and I mean that literally, ugh!

It doesn’t smell like coffee, eggnog, gingerbread, or peppermint to me. Each of the three palettes smells the same, like Play-Doh or this weird chemical-y, burnt plastic-y smell. What a disappointment. I’m going to keep it, though, because I actually like most of the shadows and blushes, and the smell isn’t noticeable when I wear them, only when I put my nose right up to the palettes. Over primer they seem fine to me, and I almost always wear eye shadow primer.

But the smell is horrible — am I the only one who thinks so???

Would you guys judge me if I want to buy this set just for the Central Perk shadow?? I just have this intense obsession with the tv show Friends and that shadow looks gorgeous!
