Sneak Peek: Marc Jacobs The Wild One Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette Photos & Swatches
Marc Jacobs The Wild One Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette ($99.00 for 0.56 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that features 20 eyeshadows in a variety of finishes and colors.
First Impressions
The eyeshadows seemed consistent with the more recently released Eye-Conic Palettes–soft, blendable, pigmented–but my experienced showed that wear may tell a different story. Hen Party was unlike any finish I have seen from the brand; it was like loosely packed glitter, and it did not seem to have much in the way of binders or adhesive qualities, so I don’t have much hope for that one. There were a few of the less shimmery shades that had weaker pigmentation but seemed like they might be buildable in practice. Most of the shimmery shades were pigmented with a smooth, almost cream-like feel to them but did not feel so dense that it would be difficult to blend out or use with a brush.

I can’t wait to see your review! I have been extremely torn about purchasing this palette. Some of those shades look gorgeous, others look like their struggling. Based on these swatches I’m still undecided.
Meh. I’m glad I held off on this one, as it looks like last year’s was better. Maybe I’ll pick up last year’s instead. Or maybe I’m just bored because everything looks the same lately, no matter which brand it is from. Do you ever experience sensory burnout, with as much makeup as you touch and review?
They don’t have last years anyomore
Last years is not available anymore.
$124 in Canada and considering my less than happy experience with the Edgitorial palette, an easy pass for me.
It looks pretty easily dupable too.
I will take a single of Chameleon, Mr. Jacobs.
I know right?!
Interesting selection of colours – I like that there are both warm and cool shades and even though it has red and pink, it doesn’t look like a dupe ModRen/Haked Heat/Sunset/Whatever…
Hen Party looks like a hot mess and I don’t know what Early Bird and Nest Egg are supposed to be but I find them very insipid and blah. The packaging is cute though and I love the eye look you put together!
I can’t afford this right now, sadly! But I was be looking for dupes!!!
Oh, my – – Chameleon MUST be released as a single, no? So unique!! I love it.
Also, Crow’s Nest is GORGEOUS. Can’t wait to see a dupe list!!!!
Thanks for all your hard work, Christine – – this is the most wonderful time of the year. 🙂
I’m not sure I get this color scheme at all. Ah well, another easy miss and boon to my wallet!
Too many misses for this price point, I think. But there’s something for everyone in this palette. I like Free Bird, even though it doesn’t look like an A+ in the swatch. Something about it calls to me, and I can’t think of any dupes.
This is quite a mixed collection of shades and white elephant certainly seems to be that (it looks out of place in the palette) and I see what you mean about Hen Party. Hmm….
I’m totally LOVING all the animal names. And several of these shades would make perfect singles. But, I just don’t know? I also see several major misses, too. Like; what in the actual h*LL is going on with Hen Party??? It looks like that loose glitter eyeshadow in that Huda palette!
I will reserve any solid opine until after your formal review, but I have a feeling that it may not be worth its Benjamin.
Not surprised that I’m not feeling this one. Still waiting for a special Marc Jacob eye shadow palette to buy
I swatched this in store, and thought the shadows were good quality. I do like a few unique colors here, but I think I have too many dupes to justify getting this kit at $100
Oooh, the swatches are not calling me at all, and except for Firebird & Crow’s Nest, the colors are all easily dupeable, so NO GO for me. I like MJ’s previous strip palettes, but somehow this year’s Iconic series and the larger palettes with the tiny pans aren’t inspiring nor do they merit the price in my opinion.
Looking forward to the review. Although this is priced out of my range and I really don’t NEED this palette, I still think it’s a very interesting and usable selection of shades. Is it bad for me to hope that it gets a low rating? Lol
If it gets a bad rating, I’ll breathe a sigh of relief. If it gets a good rating, I’ll guess I’ll just be coveting it.
You are not alone in wanting to see bad ratings at times to dissuade from purchasing, but I’ve just recently learned that it would have to be under a C+ for me before I’ll listen. 😉 And don’t let me near a computer or the store on a bad work day!
LOL…shopping therapy! I’m a bit too familiar with the concept.
I have a higher threshold. If it’s something I’m trying to resist, I don’t go for less than a B rating, and even that’s too low sometimes, unless it’s something truly unique that I really, really want…and have had a bad day.
Well, based on the HUDA experience, I think your threshold is right, so that means it’s all go for Natasha Denona’s Lila palette, it received a B+ ! But do I have to wait for a bad day? 😉
This seems like a mish mash of a palette. I do like a few of the shades – Nine lives looks like a great transition shade and Chameleon is really lovely, but I think dupeable. From that perspective, I guess I’m more interested in potential dupes that the palette itself.
