I am slightly bemused by the fruity vege naming scheme here… fig, pumpkin, grape, persimmon… Linda?

The packaging looks cool but looks like it would be a pain to store.

Also slightly annoying, the actual lipstick bullets look bubbly and uneven (which is purely cosmetic, pun intended) but for the $$$, I think they should be near flawless – if we’re going to embrace the idea of makeup/collectors items as art, then they should be as close to perfect as possible. Maybe I’m just picky though…

CeeBee,
I completely agree with you about the lipsticks looking…uneven. Thats a pet peeve of mine. If I’m paying good money, I expect a certain standard. And is it me or do the lipsticks look to be on the smaller side? That being said, I like the look of Fig and Pomegranate. Time to shop my stash and see what dupes I can come up with!

They are smaller, 2.3g – a normal lipstick bullet is usually 3.5 – 4.2g. That said, they do look amazing on Christine… I think that with luxe packaging and such beautiful colour and texture when applied, it’s a bit of a let down to have such an untidy looking bullet 🙁 If I’m paying $$$, I don’t want to feel let down AT ALL.

Understandably they are compromises that have to made on ingredients and how emollient or waxy the product itself is and it will be used and worn down eventually but dammit, it’s my pet peeve too!

I don’t buy MAC any more so this is all beside the point, ha ha.

I kind of wish the lipsticks were more traditional bullet shaped. I get when they do a multi-stick that it works best being more flattened but for ease of application these are poorly formed, IMO. I do have to say, Concord Grape is stunning. I am sure I have some dupes but this is a lovely fall/winter color. I also like the peach blush and I don’t mind shimmer in my blushes, Ciate Glow to Illuminate for instance, but I don’t care for actual glitter particles and these look like they may have some. If they are the type where the glitter particles don’t really adhere and can be brushed away with a fluffy brush then that would be workable.

Oooh, Mattene lipstick! I loved the Mattene formula, so I’ll pick up a couple of these for sure. I like Persimmon and Pumpkin, and Rhubarb blush looks like something I don’t already have, so I think I’ll get that, too 🙂 Hopefully I can get on MAC’s site before it all sells out lol…

These are really pretty– I especially like the Pumpkin color. But the fact that you’re paying quite a bit more money for less product is a real turnoff.

When I saw this collection on Youtube, I fell in love with the sculptural packaging and needed to have a ‘pod’ and matching lipstick. At the time I had only paid full price for one high end makeup item, the Tartlette in Bloom palette. I usually wait for things I want to go on sale, but I had a feeling this was never going to last that long and I was right. I got the blush in Linda and the Lipstick in Concourd Grape. I still haven’t tried the blush but the lipstick is beautiful. It looks better on Temptalia but I still love it and the bullet has a nice weight to it. I have them displayed my living room on a small table that matches it perfectly!
