I’m sitting here, reading your comment and dying of laughter, Nancy. LMAO! You said exactly what I was thinking. When I had first seen the release pic for this palette, I thought it would be beautiful (even though I had no plans on buying it; that price tag is ridiculous!). After seeing these swatches, I’m more shocked now than when I had first seen the price! These shades’ lackluster pigmentation is inexcusable.

LMAO I’ve been complaining about 50 shades of brown forever, and just when I thought things can’t get any worse, we now have 50 shades of BEIGE! Aaargh! What’s next??? 50 shades of white?

I feel like the quality of the products released since his death have really been sub-par. Or at least below the standard he set for his company. $165 seems like too much for a palette that is nothing more than the same old same old take on neutrals. Perhaps this will fair better in your review. Either way, I’ll be passing.

Uh oh, for $ 165, this might win the prize for one of the most expensive and worst shadow palettes for 2015. I already see some obvious duds, and the rest look unimpressive in both quality and color. For $ 165, I can buy 3 UD Naked or 2 Viseart palettes. Skip!

I love the Celestial and Sculpting powders. Those are a win, in my book. I really like the colors of the shadows, but several look like a miss in terms of quality. That’s too bad. Too many other eye shadow choices on the market with truly excellent quality to make something like this tempting. Good news is, I bought the KA Contour Book, Vol II last night. The price on that one is way too good to pass up for what you get.

For $165, a palette would not only have to earn a A+, it would have to wash my windows, fix dinner, and trim my polydactylous cat’s nails. All 23 of them.

Colours combination is boring to dead.
Almost half of the coulours of the palette look like dupes of the other colours (8 shades + 6 dupes shades)
Lol

What is it with the brands lately, bringing out palettes with lots and lots of light colours in the one box? This palette looks very similar to Lorac’s recent offering as well as a few others. The matte shades look pretty dry and patchy to me. Not the usual Kevin Aucoin’s standards I think. Very expensive too. Nope – I don’t really like it at all.

Veronica Avatar

The quality is unacceptable for the price. Considering how excellent the main line is, there’s no reason for an expensive holiday palette to take a dive in equality.

I am a huge KA fan– especially his eye shadows. With my collection, I knew I did not need this palette, but I thought it might be a great opportunity for folks new to his brand to experience the KA quality in a well done (if rather pricey) neutral palette with a cool-warm balance. Well, wrong! This is the way to degrade his brand by putting out an overpriced palette that swatches this poorly. Bad move.

CatherineM Avatar

I was seriously considering to buy this palette, even though I already own 2 neutral eyeshadow palettes, simply because it’s Kevyn Aucoin and I’ve been loving his products lately. Now, after seing the swatches, not so much…

Even the Godfather of neutrals would be ashamed of what they did in his name. These are pretty $#!^^Y for the price: even without the math, it’s well over $200 per ounce. MUFE trios are a better pick, and you can choose your non dupes, etc. Who is the target market? Uniformly, this group of online enthusiasts runs from dismayed to firmly against. Most m/u folks have a boatload of neutrals, and C is going to have to really whittle her comparison swatches. (For the other 375 dupes, click HERE.) OK, so poorly received here, where honesty counts. YT etc.: some gurus will OF COURSE be plugging it. Certainly the target cannot be a starter neutral palette for a pretty young thing? Who, besides the conspicuous materialists would do that? 90210 jr high status symbol? No offense to CA, just using the stereotype to make my point. This palette makes zero sense to me. And tiny brushes….maybe that’s ’cause the e/s wells won’t TAKE anything bigger. Not just an epic fail in an oversaturated market, but epically (sp?) ridiculous. I echo everyone above. Everyone here is anxiously awaiting the review, just to scoff.
