Those are gorgeous colors. I wish a blush had been included. But, still too pricey for me.
Let’s see; $165, and half of the eyeshadows are splotchy or poorly pigmented, not to mention, HIGHLY dupable! WTF?!? And I am not usually one to cuss, so you KNOW it’s looking terrible to me if I do! ?
Also; what’s up with all these 50 shades of BEIGE palettes??? Anyone???
I am with you on that. Most makeup enthusiasts have enough neutral palettes. Lately, I am only considering neutrals with at least one or two pops of color. When I work with a palette, I want one palette. I do not want to reach for extras the way I do with singles or duos. A single palette should be enough.
I’m sitting here, reading your comment and dying of laughter, Nancy. LMAO! You said exactly what I was thinking. When I had first seen the release pic for this palette, I thought it would be beautiful (even though I had no plans on buying it; that price tag is ridiculous!). After seeing these swatches, I’m more shocked now than when I had first seen the price! These shades’ lackluster pigmentation is inexcusable.
Totally agree! If you are expecting people to pay $165, you had better have some amazing colors that are unique and perfectly textured.
I agree Nancy.
LMAO I’ve been complaining about 50 shades of brown forever, and just when I thought things can’t get any worse, we now have 50 shades of BEIGE! Aaargh! What’s next??? 50 shades of white?
Agreed.
As Meatloaf would say… “You took the words right outta my mouth!”
Exactly! 165 bucks (‘merrican too) for those sh8tty shadows.
No kidding!! I really expected these to look great with the KA reputation and price tag! Boring, under-pigmented, overpriced! Easy pass.
Christine,
I assume you’re doing a review, but any first thoughts??!!! Is it worth it?!
It looks absolutely beautiful, but I could never bring myself to pay that much for a palette.
UNACCEPTABLE!
(Adventure time anyone? I’ll show myself out)
LOL!!!! Totally perfect!
Lemongrab! 😉
Ooh, looks promising, classy palette!
I feel like the quality of the products released since his death have really been sub-par. Or at least below the standard he set for his company. $165 seems like too much for a palette that is nothing more than the same old same old take on neutrals. Perhaps this will fair better in your review. Either way, I’ll be passing.
I completely agree with your first statement.
this looks so boring. like a basic white-button down… you should own one, but it’s not an exciting purchase!
Wow ,black looks bad. That’s surprising. The rest look okay to me. But, I’m on my phone at the moment. Sometime it’s not as clear as my pc. Idk,$165. That’s a lot.
Uh oh, for $ 165, this might win the prize for one of the most expensive and worst shadow palettes for 2015. I already see some obvious duds, and the rest look unimpressive in both quality and color. For $ 165, I can buy 3 UD Naked or 2 Viseart palettes. Skip!
Katherine, that’s exactly how I felt when I saw this!
I second this! At that price, this palette better be able to do my taxes for me!
I love the Celestial and Sculpting powders. Those are a win, in my book. I really like the colors of the shadows, but several look like a miss in terms of quality. That’s too bad. Too many other eye shadow choices on the market with truly excellent quality to make something like this tempting. Good news is, I bought the KA Contour Book, Vol II last night. The price on that one is way too good to pass up for what you get.
I was so excited until I saw the price tag. No way. Knock off $66, and I am in.
It’s such a lovely palette, but some of those eyeshadows look rough, especially the black. For the kind of money they’re asking, the shadows should be the creme de la creme.
Totally agree Rachel
Ugh, the eyeshadows are lovely but not impressed with the contour (too light, once again). I’d end up using Dark Chocolate for contouring but doesn’t seem worth it to waste all that space. Especially for $165!
Right? For the price they could at least put two contour shades in it that way it’s useable for everyone.
Sad to say, but looking at these swatches, I’m SOOOO glad I didn’t splurge on this palette! 😀
For $165, a palette would not only have to earn a A+, it would have to wash my windows, fix dinner, and trim my polydactylous cat’s nails. All 23 of them.
Haha, love this comment, especially the bit about your cat’s polydactulous paws!
Huge pass on this one! That price is absolutely ridiculous especially for the quality these seem to be.
Glad I planned on passing on this one already, the swatches look terrible!
That is one sad, sad black eyeshadow.
I lol’d at this! I said that out loud when I saw the swatch…horrible!
why oh why do they ever include those garbage little applicators in luxury palettes? cheapens the whole thing to me
Colours combination is boring to dead.
Almost half of the coulours of the palette look like dupes of the other colours (8 shades + 6 dupes shades)
Lol
I would love to by this but the eye shadows don’t look of excellent quality, which they should be for that price tag. Too bad 🙁
What is it with the brands lately, bringing out palettes with lots and lots of light colours in the one box? This palette looks very similar to Lorac’s recent offering as well as a few others. The matte shades look pretty dry and patchy to me. Not the usual Kevin Aucoin’s standards I think. Very expensive too. Nope – I don’t really like it at all.
I regret looking at these swatches, now I’m depressed and slightly shocked ?
Chic looking palette but colors remind me of the Kat Von D shade & light palette at more than twice the price.
Nope. For 165 bucks it better apply on its own and it needs to be the creme de la creme.
The quality is unacceptable for the price. Considering how excellent the main line is, there’s no reason for an expensive holiday palette to take a dive in equality.
for 165 those brushes look silly!
$165…. Umm no. This will be an easy pass for me. Tired of all these neutrals with no pops of color and they look flat and powdery.
Yeah. Those swatches look bad, and the colors are super boring. I think Kevyn Aucoin was too good of a makeup artist to have his name attached to something so sub-par.
Um. Please excuse the dash in between sub and par. Lol, it’s late.
I am a huge KA fan– especially his eye shadows. With my collection, I knew I did not need this palette, but I thought it might be a great opportunity for folks new to his brand to experience the KA quality in a well done (if rather pricey) neutral palette with a cool-warm balance. Well, wrong! This is the way to degrade his brand by putting out an overpriced palette that swatches this poorly. Bad move.
I was seriously considering to buy this palette, even though I already own 2 neutral eyeshadow palettes, simply because it’s Kevyn Aucoin and I’ve been loving his products lately. Now, after seing the swatches, not so much…
Yikes, that’s expensive! And from what I’m seeing so far it’s not worth the price. Too many misses in color pay-off.
Even the Godfather of neutrals would be ashamed of what they did in his name. These are pretty $#!^^Y for the price: even without the math, it’s well over $200 per ounce. MUFE trios are a better pick, and you can choose your non dupes, etc. Who is the target market? Uniformly, this group of online enthusiasts runs from dismayed to firmly against. Most m/u folks have a boatload of neutrals, and C is going to have to really whittle her comparison swatches. (For the other 375 dupes, click HERE.) OK, so poorly received here, where honesty counts. YT etc.: some gurus will OF COURSE be plugging it. Certainly the target cannot be a starter neutral palette for a pretty young thing? Who, besides the conspicuous materialists would do that? 90210 jr high status symbol? No offense to CA, just using the stereotype to make my point. This palette makes zero sense to me. And tiny brushes….maybe that’s ’cause the e/s wells won’t TAKE anything bigger. Not just an epic fail in an oversaturated market, but epically (sp?) ridiculous. I echo everyone above. Everyone here is anxiously awaiting the review, just to scoff.
