Like the other palette better.. this one too warm, but it’s pretty!!
I like this one better!
Oh gosh, this is SO PRETTY!!!!! It has such a good mix of mattes and shimmers (a little bit of fallout?) that this would be perfect as an every day pallette.
Got mine yesterday, and I love it!
I LOVE this one!! Definitely a must-get for spring!
Killing Jar. What a great name for an eyeshadow in a palette named after one of the most beautiful things on earth. Yes Kat, way to go.
Exactly what I was thinking!
Killing jar is something that exists in entomology, so it’s not like she pulled it out of her ass considering it’s the theme of the palette.
I am aware of that. It’s also the name used for the jar method of euthanizing insects. So no, she didn’t pull it out of her ass. My comment was intended to indicate that it has a rather negative flavor to it when used in something that’s supposed to be about beauty. So thank you for the attempt to educate. My comment still stands.
Killing jars are used to capture and kill insects (very commonly, butterflies) with minimal harm otherwise, for studying/scientific purposes. It actually is a clever name for this specific palette.
This is a neutral-ish palette I actually really want! Too bad I’m on a makeup buying freeze 🙁
As a whole, I like this palette more.
Its a nice paltte! I guess there are some shades that I wish were more pigmented though! Wil wait for the reviews!
I feel like I need this so badly. Summerfly is so gorgeous.
For what it is and its intention, swatches look good. I will be passing because they all seem to be in very dupeable shades.
Love the tin yet nothing I need.
This makes me want to watch The Venture Bros
This comment got me! Haha!
Wish I could justify this, but already have all the warm colors I love in this palette…
Some of these shades look so desirable – Disintegration, Delaney, Papilio. But the name “Killing Jar”??? UGH! When I used to teach elementary school, my students raised Monarchs from their caterpillar stage and released them when they hatched out. I remember how sad the kids would be about those who didn’t make it through one of the stages and so “Killing Jar” just makes me feel sad since the Monarch is such an amazing and mysterious creature.
It’s most like a reference to Siouxsie & the Banshees, but after reading your interpretation, I can see it probably wasn’t the best choice in this particular set of palettes…
That’s one hell of a negative song…from what I remember. Isn’t it about heroin but it uses the metaphor of the “killing jar” entomologists use to trap butterflies? The song is great, in my opinion…but killing butterflies…that I can’t handle! 😉
Yeah, not the best choice, totally XD Since there are so many people who have never heard SATB. The names seem more morbid than they are. I wasn’t sure if Killing Jar was Siouxsie related, then I saw tiny death (melt!)
Probably all so dupe-able in my stash but MAN, do I love Delaney, Vanish and Disintegration!! Can I really justify the whole palette for those 3? LOL!!!
Delaney and vanish look beautiful. Can’t wait for the full review!
I think I like this one better! Excited to see the review 🙂
I will wait for your review, Christine before I decide, but I am leaning towards this warm palette. Some of the colors on the cool palette look chalky.
aaa. yeah … so I guess I have to get this one too..
This looks like what I’ve been searching for!
…Just saw the shade names…Killing Jar? There’s no way I could purchase this after reading that name. That’s really disturbing.
Will this be permanent or limited edition?
Hi Stef,
Sephora lists it as new and exclusive but not limited edition!
I went to Srphora on Monday and I sat and swatches each shade from both palettes. I really loved the Chrysalis, but I ended hup purchasing this one because it was more practical for me. The shades wear well with my primer base and lasted for an entire 10 hour shift!
LOVE that burnt orange color!
Such a pretty set of colours! Too warm for me, but that doesn’t really matter – they look beautiful on you in these swatches, Christine! Can’t wait to see the full review.
I live in Switzerland and would looove to order some Kat von D. stuff.
I know quite a lot “US-online-makeup-shops” but none of them sells KVD.
Do you or anyone else reading this know where I can buy KVD?
PS: Sephora.com does not ship outside the US.
There are Sephora France and Sephora Italy which do ship to Switzerland, but unfortunately they don’t sell Kat Von D.
Sephora ships internationally now, though some brands are restricted, and they do not ship to all countries!
Oh, thank you, I didn’t know they were shipping internationally!
I’ve just looked it up and was about to order…but obviously they ship only to GB, Canada, Japan and South Korea.
I really think Kat von D. needs to rethink her distribution…
xoxoxo
I like CHRYSALIS Palette more.
But I like this one too.
Oh my! I fell in love with ‘Wrath’.
I got this palette a few days ago. The shadows seemed to be a bit softer and creamier in the store demo, but they are still very buttery as it is. I have used this palette for the past three days, and I must say that the colors might be too soft! (Odd, i know!) There’s not a great amount of fall out or anything, I just find the shimmery shades to crease relatively fast on me.
Maybe I just packed too much onto my brush?
This palette is so warm, but I like the neutral colors! ^^
I just came from Sephora and searched the entire palette. The online photos/YouTube Vids do not do this justice. These colours are bloody gorgeous up close and personal. Super pigmented and soft. This is on my “must haves” list. If I hadn’t have already purchase another Kat Von D palette I would not have hesitated to pick it up. Next time.
Love this palette. Her shadows rock.
All the shades are soooooooo pretty. Loved them all, but disintegration is is my favorite. 🙂
I’m warm toned, and I’ve been told warm tones suit me better (kind of obvious), but this set of palettes is a perfect example of why I don’t like being warm toned 🙁 warm palettes are BO-RING!
The palette is pretty decent .. i liked the last set of three eye shadows the most.. some prettyy matte shades. 🙂
This is the palette I have had my eye on & it looks amazing! I am a complete warm-neutrals girl, so this is right up my street.
Hi Christine! Are these new palettes permanent? Cause if it is, ill prolly save up to have them, but if not, o boy! So help me… XD
Hey Sheena,
Sephora just lists them as “new” and “exclusive” but not limited edition!
Well this is pretty. Not particularly unique but it does have plenty of pretty shades
What a great warm palette!
Hey Christine, which palette do you recommend more? This one or the too faced chocolate bar palette? I can’t decide! I have green eyes, pale skin and dark red hair if that helps:)
Christine I was just sitting here waiting for you review while the palette sold out on sephora! Now what? 🙁 I don’t know if it will come back on not 🙁
