Sneak Peek: Juvia's Place Nubian & Nubian 2 Eyeshadow Palettes Photos & Swatches
Juvia’s Place The Nubian 2 Eyeshadow Palette
Here are swatches of Juvia’s Place Nubian Eyeshadow Palette ($28.00 for 0.68 oz.) and Juvia’s Place Nubian 2 Eyeshadow Palette ($30.00 for 1.58 oz.) to kick off our sneak peek swatches of six of the brand’s palettes. I split them up across three posts as it gets to be pretty intense with so many shades in each palette (there are six palettes!). While I hope to review, I am not certain if or when that will be, so I hope the swatches are helpful in the meanwhile.
Juvia's Place The Nubian Palette
Wow, when I clicked on your links to the Juvia site, these palettes and others are on sale! The first one looks like their version of UD’s Naked Heat (don’t know which one came first) and the second one is really appealing to me, although all the mattes look sadly patchy and unpigmented. Thanks for the swatches.
p.s. I was wondering — since you don’t swatch over primer, correct? — if sometimes you could swatch just one matte shade occasionally over primer. I always use primer and it would help my buying decisions if I knew the mattes performed better over it. Thank you, not trying to tell you what to do with your blog, just that it would be helpful.
I usually mention in the review for particularly problematic shades or if it’s an issue across the formula if performance requires a primer!
OK, thanks! Pictures/swatches over primer are most helpful for me when deciding to buy something or not. I don’t know how you swatch everything you do! 😀
Susan, the Juvia’s Place ones came first. Their shadows apply much, much better damp and over primer…and then they’re amazing. That said, some shades are a bit dusty. I never found that to be an issue since they’re wickedly pigmented and last all day on me. I have all of their palettes.
Thank you so much, Michele!
Hi Susan, I got this palette recently and the mattes are fantastic over primer!
Nice. The Nubian 1 looks like a great warm neutral palette. Nubian 2 seems a little uneven, but it has some really nice pops of color (Leyla is amazing).
Wow, all of these swatches look great. I must say, I have been avoiding the brand bc of the over-hype but might just be worth exploring it!
That Queen Nefertiti image is awesome! I’ve loved Egyptian stuff since I was a kid. The colours look pretty good, too 🙂
I’m so glad you’re going to be reviewing these palettes! I don’t trust (or purchase) any brands purely hyped up by ‘influencers’ *cough* I’m looking at you Morphe! *cough* Will be patiently waiting for your thoughts on these 🙂
Melissa, just an FYI on Morphe, I’ve bought 5 or 6 of their 35 pan palettes and all have performed beautifully. The only complaint I did have was in regards to my not being interested in some of the colors which I was able to work out….I have a blond blue-eyed sister and a BFF who has light brown hair, hazel eyes but is about 3 shades darker skinned than my NW10-13 black eyes, black hair. We all took what we wanted and put them in a Z palettes and few were left. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a Morphe palette in the future.
I’ve been watching a lot of declutter videos on YouTube lately and my impression seems that people’s feelings on Morphe are mixed (based on the amount people declutter them from their stash or keeps them).
Nubian 2 looks like it has some ultra rich, dense pigmentation in its metallic shades especially! Both palettes are really lovely looking, though!
Will definitely be checking to see whether their dupe lists reveal what I believe will be dupes for a bulk of these right here in my own stash.
Wow – these look pretty good. A few sub par mattes, but the rest are gorgeous. The shimmers are divine – especially in the second palette. Egypt is amazing.
I’m a little confused by the ingredients, I already tossed my boxes but I could have sworn when I looked at my boxes the Nubian 1 and 2 had slightly different ingredients ?. E.g. The Nubian 1 had parabens and the Nubian 2 didn’t. I wonder if they changed it? I really enjoy my Nubian 2! Anxiously awaiting your thoughts.
I have both of these. Only used Nubian 2 and I really love it! I wore it on a trip and it went well with my different lip colors. No trouble with the mattes over primer. Great quality shadows with rich pigmentation and reasonable price.
I recently picked up the Nubian 2 palette. It is gorgeous, and yet I have very little idea as to how to best use it in my real life. Much bolder colors than I normally use. I have little patience for watching YouTube videos, and the few I saw didn’t really inspire me. I’d love to see some looks any of you have created with the Nubian 2!
