This Sneak Peak has made me more clear on the survey questions you asked yesterday about what we’d like to see this holiday season. It is TREMENDOUSLY helpful to see swatches like this. This particular palette is not one that I would have likely considered, anyway, but I can imagine that if it were on my radar to pick up, the swatches and look you created would be important factors in my decision-making process. Thank you!
(I wish I could unsee that Cosmo swatch, though. How, how, how does this get to market? My 10-year-old daughter and her friends could likely formulate something better.)
Christine, I completely agree with the comment above – this type of “Sneak Peak” post is very helpful! Especially if you’re swamped with many products to review, seeing swatches and an eye look like this already helps me (and probably many others) decide how they feel about the product.
Not to worry, sneak peeks will continue as they have – I do my very best to edit my photos shortly after taking them (otherwise, they get backed up and sit around for ages) to avoid having a bunch of unedited, unused photos (that I still took the time to photograph, swatch, etc.!) that nobody sees. I do have to do some backend stuff (including pulling dupes), so it does sometimes take me a bit longer after editing but I try to add the swatches within 24-36 hours of taking them.
I third the conment: this is sufficient info for me to make an informed decision.
I fourth this comment. The swatches are incredibly helpful and if you don’t make it to the a full review before it launches I already have my decision. 🙂
I fifth this comment. These swatches are enough for me to decide whether I want to pick this up or not. Thank you for getting this palette up so quickly!
I agree. Most helpful and appreciated. I’ll wait for the full review and be interested to see dupes, especially for Twilight. Otherwise, this is a pass. Quality looks pretty sketchy for some colors.
I agree with Emily. These swatches and eye looks are helpful. Personally, I don’t need an in depth review of how each shade performs, but just an overall assessment of the palette as a whole plus these swatches and eye looks would be good enough for me to make up my mind.
I think most palettes will always have at least a couple shades that aren’t great, so just a general summary of what was good and bad in a first impressions would suffice.
I sixth Emily’s comment :). I see the swatches, I see the eyeshadows applied on your eyes, see the ingredients and where the product is made. And as Wwendy pointed out, It’s enough info for me too, in order to make an informed decision.
Cosmo is supposed to be a pure glitter, not a shadow…lol. It does look godawful swatched though
Cosmo looks tragic! Pretty much all of the shimmer shades look underwhelming while the mattes look decent. Can’t wait for your review!
I’m so excited for your review on this as either i have a new holy grail to get my hands on or I’m saving myself a hefty few quid !
The swatches look pretty good but I can’t wait for the review. I really want this palette but need to know if it’s worth the splurge…
Oh oh momma that looks good!:) Cosmo looks like more of glitter pigment rather than a shadow though..but not a really a complaint…makes it convenient I guess. Lovin these colors though. And the look you did, so good! I must have that eyeliner!
I just finally got the Yes, Please cause it restocked..so that should be cool to have. Would be fun to pair with this palette.
Pretty colors, but there are so many different palettes with these red/brown/purple/neutral type shades these days, that this one seems unnecessary and bit boring. And what’s with Cosmo???
(What I loved about ABH Subculture when I first saw it was that it was unique in a sea of same-y palettes. It’s sad that it has so many quality problems.)
I agree. Pretty, but how many red/orange shadows does one person need? My Mod Ren palette is enough. Until someone puts out a new, good, TRULY cool-toned palette, my wallet is safe. The new trend I hate lately is someone calling a palette “cool” when it has a few cool shades but the rest is the same ol’ same ol’ red, orange, and warm browns. They’re not fooling me.
The MAC Rockin’ Rebel palette got me interested because it’s so different and most definitely “cool,” but once again, the quality just wasn’t there.
Check out Musings of a Muse’s post today with a photo of a new Bare Minerals Ready Shadow palette that looks really cool. Pun intended!
I don’t care how hard I have to work to get these shadows to play nice, I’m getting this. I absolutely cannot resist those colors. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your eye look Christine!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know the glitters may be troublesome but I don’t care.
I don’t care either haha:)
From watching a few reviews on Youtube, it looks like the toppers are great on and Cosmo is a lovely glitter if you use glitter glue. A couple of people had trouble with the palette and were negative about it but the rest were happy and did great looks, like Christine (thanks Christine!). I look forward to your review too. I’m tempted with this one (I’m a succour for sparkle and duochromes) but still musing on it….
So looking forward to getting this as soon as it’s available. Does it make me a bad person that I’m jealous you already have it? 😉 I have the Sunset palette and I think this will make a nice companion to it — and I much prefer purples!
So many of these colors look beautiful but just didn’t seem to swatch that great. Cosmo is a mess and retrograde isn’t that much better. I think all of the reds/browns/oranges can be duped and I already have the Naked Heat so I’m going to pass on this one!
Thank you so much for this! The mattes look like much better quality than the rose gold palette! I’ll be interested to read your review because I’m very tempted by this ☺️
In fact the mattes in the rose gold one work really well for me and the whole palette is one of my faves. It was such a contentious palette, but luckily I loved mine ?
The Mattes in the Rose Gold palette are fantastic, definitely my favorite palette purchase of 2017 so far!
I’m very excited about this palette. Yes, I know I don’t need any more palette for the rest of the year but this one is on my list. I can’t wait for your review. 🙂
The quality looks solid overall (though why they just can’t call the one a glitter I don’t get) but man does this color story feel played out!
This in the same category as ABH Modern Renaissance and its various “progeny” – waaay too red/orange/hot pink based for me to be able to wear unless I want to look freakish.
….oh, and a question, Christine. Some of the shadows have 2 swatches – I’m guessing dry and wet. Is that because some of them were so crummy dry that you felt you had to give them a try wet to see if they either performed better or showed up more clearly for photo purposes? Some of the shades – those with only one swatch – look beautifully pigmented; a few of the others – especially Cosmo, which seems to deserve special recognition for being awful AND for crumbling – look pretty bad and with that glitter that is so not integrated into the base.
They’re dry and damp – they felt like the type of formula that is probably going to be used damp or with setting spray. I remembered that some were extremely disappointed that I did not show them wet, so I wanted to make sure to do that this time around.
Cosmo is listed as a “pure glitter,” though it says “use this ready-to-go formula all over your lids, dabbing it on with a flat brush or as a bold liner.” It’s more pure glitter than ready-to-go…
The three swatched dry and damp were listed as “with a brush or apply with a finger to maximize the reflection.”
Pretty colors but WTF happened to Cosmo? Unless its supposed to be a loose glitter? In which case shouldn’t it be in a jar? ? Might still be pretty though with some glitter glue. Most of these colors i have dupes for so even if Cosmo was stellar it would still be a pass.

Hmmm. These look better to me than her last palette. Not sure why I am surprised she decided to keep those problematic glitter shades. Keen to ready your review!
I was excited for this palette until I saw the swatches. They don’t swatch poorly, and if you know how to work with glitter and reflects textures, then those won’t be a problem at all, but the colors are just so warm. I know I should expect it considering the palette is inspired by dusk tones in the dessert, but I thought it would be more dusky (for lack of a better word) than red toned based on promo pictures. I was expecting more muted pinks, purples, etc., based on the promo images. This looks pretty much like every other warm toned palette out there.
I still want to see it in person if possible before making up my mind. It has some pretty bright pops of colors.
Agree completely. There are so many “red/orange” warm toned pallattes out there, reminds me of all the “neutral/brown” palettes still on the market.
Same…i wanted it, but now the only shade i like is the duochrome purple
Pass: price, dicey shimmers, experience with this label, flush with shadows in this range too. It looks pretty.
Beautiful colors, looking forward to your full review. This is a palette I will buy!
I think I’m going to get this based on the swatches. The only one that looks truly tragic is Cosmos, and I don’t like glitter pigments anyway (I don’t have the patience plus I wear contacts and I don’t want to risk glitter getting stuck under a contact) so that one isn’t factoring into my decision. I don’t really “need” this palette because between Mod Ren, Heat, and Desert Sunset I probably have all these shades covered but it just is So D*mn Pretty! Plus I like Huda and this is the first offering I’ve seen from her that I’m really interested in.
I love Retrograde…in the pan. The swatch is disappointing. I hope there’s a quality dupe.
While this palette looks absolutely beautiful (save for Cosmo), and the eye look you did using this is divine, I see so many super easy to dupe shades. I agree with all those before me who commented on how the eye look and swatches made up their minds. Sometimes, that alone, plus an overall summary of how well a mega palette such as this performed, which shades are excellent, which are losers, and a dupe list are enough to cinch or break the deal!
Yikes, Cosmo looks super scary, like Fall Out City. I can skip this, have too many dupes already. I have first Rose Gold palette, mattes are mostly meh or bad quality, kept it for the textured shadows, curious how this one does.
I returned her first palette, and I’m going to skip this one. I know it won’t work for me.
200% getting this! A lot of people seemed to be complaining about Cosmo but the brand is being very clear with the fact that it is just glitter. And a lot of blogs/vlogs I trust the most gave the 1st palette underwhelming reviews and I understand why but I bought it anyway and I LOVE it!! I use it a lot, for simple everyday looks to full on glam looks, and I have a feeling just by looking at the swatches that this palette will be even better than that. Thank you for posting this Christine!
Yes, I agree, I love the Rose Gold palette and will pick this one up too!
I want to like this but there’s too many browns and they’re all so similar to the ones in the first HUDA palette. If they had opted for even 3 more plums this would be an instant sell for me, despite the fact that I mildly hate the weird chunky glitter squares.
Cosmos… Yikes. I was really excited when she said she had a pressed glitter in the palette, but that looks garish. So far the only pressed glitter that I’ve tried and loved was the 24/7 shade (I think that’s its name) from the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe palette. I don’t like Morphe, and I think that if the JH palette is the best they have then everything else has to be trash, but that glitter shade was pretty perfect IMO.
Everything else looks pretty familiar because it seems as though I keep seeing these shades in different palettes, but with slight variations.
Is Cosmo a Glitter?
The glitter shades look awful. Im so sad, I had high hopes. But Im not going to spend that much money for a palette with duds. Cosmo looks rought haha.
Also, this looks much too similar to the Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts palette. I do want the Twilight color, but I feel like that color is out there somewhere in a single pan, and if not, just pop some Luna Moon Topper by Black Moon Cosmetics on the eye and you’ll be good to go, lol.
*wince* Because we needed a red version of Kat Von D’s Gothica, right?
Ooooh……..Twilight and Saffron are calling my name . I think this Palette is very pretty but will wait for reviews . Christina, the colors you used for the pictures are lovely and very flattering to your coloring .
Absolutely stunning! After seeing these swatches, this is a must-have palette for me. ?
I love the shades of this palette!
Well, this is a mixed bunch – some of the sparkly shades look pretty bad and the rest are OK. But I get the feeling that this palette is pretty similar to lots of others in the market place at the moment.
I’m really torn on this one. Part of me wants it but, there’s another part of me that is not wowed with the swatches. Honestly, I probably have dupes in my collection. Interested in your review and the dupe list.
I like the look of it, but I’m not tempted, it looks like colours I can find elsewhere for much cheaper, I’m not keen on using my finger to apply. Plus I feel there will be a sea of palettes coming out with similar colours, with a formula I prefer. Excited for your thoughts, nonetheless.
I’m kinda glad I see some negative comments—- gives me a better chance to snap it up quickly. Yeah, I have UD Naked Heat and ABH Modern R. and I still want this one too! I’d like to check out the Natasha Denona Lila too! Come to mama!!
Lilac
I am of the few that do not have a warm-toned palette, and this is gorgeous. I’m excited for the review!
I’m really underwhelmed by the swatches. I was hoping the shimmers would be more pigmented.
I love Huda Beauty and I love these shades so I am going to be getting this palette.I have all her Liquid Mattes in a vault I got last year and some of the Lip Contour pencils.I just recently got a vault with all the Lip Strobes and the Strobes are just gorgeous so dimensional! The formula is one of my top favorites for liquid lipstick because it is a bit more comfortable.I have the Rose Gold edition palette and I really enjoy using it.I did hold out on getting when it was first released and got it during a Rouge sale.I haven’t tried her highlighters but everything else including her lashes are fabulous quality in my opinion.
I love her Rose Gold palette, and I am totally on board with getting this one too. I think the textured shadows are quite unusual (and not everyone loves them), but I do! And one glitter shade…sounds like just enough to be interesting to me.
I am sad to say, that these look very poorly made. It looks like a kit, that you do yourself. It truly looks like something that came from a drugstore, and should be in the eight dollar range. When you get to be forty, you buy quality versus quantity, it pay off in the end. It certainly helped me make my decision. Thank you.
carolintallahassee ?
Beautiful
This palette is so pretty but looks like it could be easily duped for the most part. I’m excited to see the dupes for the duochromes. Those are what I’m most excited about, but I can’t justify spending that much on a palette JUST for a couple of shades.
Such a beautiful palette, but in your opinion, how does it compare to the first palette? chalkiness, color payoff, etc. Thanks!! 🙂
