Sneak Peek: ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadows Photos & Swatches (Part 1)
ColourPop Better Than a Sweater Collection
ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadows ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) are a cream and powder hybrid formula. If you’re familiar with MAC Electric Cool (which has nearly identical packaging, just in black), DiorShow Fusion Monos, Chanel Illusion d’Ombres, or Buxom Stay-There formulas, then this is very similar. It has a spongy consistency that’s more cream than powder eyeshadow, but it isn’t as wet as a true cream eyeshadow. I’ll be reviewing some shades from the range over the coming weeks, but first, here’s a sneak peek…
P.S. — They’re also in the Swatch Gallery, in case you prefer browsing that way!

Glad to see you review these! I like them but have only tried a few of the more shimmery shades and they could veer pretty sheer (which I like). Can’t wait to get your thoughts on a broader swatch of the range!
Which ones did you get, Megan?
Pigment in Erotic, which leans less sheer than the others. Bae, also a little less sheer, especially with primer. Girly, So Quiche and I Heart This, all of which remind me of UD’s moon dust eyeshadows a little. That seem semi wet super shimmery look, which I like. But I’m really curious to hear your thoughts on these. Can’t beat the price! Thanks for doing the reviews!
I LOVE Colourpop! I bought the megan collab and not a box of chocolates collections and OMG. They are my new favorite make up line…although I’m kind of sad that you’re reviewing them since now everybody will know about them! LOL 😉
Sorry 🙁
I’m just teasing 🙂 I hope you like them as much as I do! I ordered two more foursomes yesterday when they were 20% off 😀
These look like they have promise! I still find the texture a little weird, but at only $5 per, I’m much more in the mood to experiment than I would be with the MAC version (let alone Dior or Chanel versions)
I’ve come across a few for sure that find the texture weird (this type, in general, not necessarily ColourPop’s specifically), but I totally love that spongy, mostly cream but goes on more like a powder texture (as evidenced by my great love affair with Dior’s Fusion Monos!).
Oh wow, I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this brand! These are absolutely beautiful; and for $5!
I believe they’re newer – not sure how new!
These look gorgeous! Can’t decide if I should buy these or the MakeUp Geek shadows! Such a tough decision!
I guess I’d consider whether you prefer powder or cream eyeshadows, shimmers or mattes (ColourPop is heavy on the sparkle).
Super intrigued by the price point.
A few readers requested reviews, because they seemed too good to be true at $5, lol!
Wow! These look awesome, I’ve never even heard of ColourPop here in the UK.
The only one that seems to fall a tiny bit short is Doe a Deer, the rest look incredible!
Looking forward to the review, Christine!
I know they’re a newer brand, though I’m not sure how new new they are.
omg awesomeee. i’ve picked up a few but its so cool you’re reviewing these too! would love to see what you think! and maybe pick up some lippies too?
Which ones do you have, Raven?
Some of these appear quite pigmented. Interesting colors!
Yes, many of them definitely seem quite pigmented!
Wow. These look super pigmented and shimmery. Perfect for the holiday season 🙂 I can’t wait for the full review!
I’ve worn about twenty of them now, I think, so hope to review at least a few tomorrow 🙂
Thank you for your hard work, as always!
Dare is absolutely gorgeous. I can’t wait to see how these perform. I have some of the Dior Fusion shadows and while they’re gorgeous, it’s challenging to actually get them to transfer to the lid.
What brush do you use, Aline? Some of the LE ones and the matte ones were trickier, but the original set was really easy for me to use.
I haven’t tried any of the matte ones. I’ve pretty much given up on brushes and just use my fingers and I’ve tried the sponge tip applicator that comes with them and it think that’s ok. I’m kind of bummed that I lost so much product on my fingers, but they’re really gorgeous on and I get lots of compliments every time I use them. I wish I had the magic solution for you.
Oh, that is a bummer! I use MAC’s 239 and 242 often with them without issue. I also really like Chikuhodo’s GSN-09 with cream eyeshadows (there’s something about the fluffiness/density that works well). If you have any synthetic brushes, though, that might help as well.
I have both of those MAC brushes, so I’ll give them a try. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
Worth a shot 🙂
Yay so happy they are getting love on your site. I have been down with them for a long time and now I see they are all the rage amongst the YouTube folks…Absolutely amazing brand that writes a personal note with every order, amazing color payoff and the lippie stix and lippie pencils are amazing as well…My favorite eyeshadow by them are Bae, Bandit, Rex, and Lace!!!
What are your favorite Lippie Stix? I did pick up a few, but I only managed to get through photographing all of the eyeshadows.
My favorite lippie stixs are Ellarie, Grind, Bossy, and Leather. I plan to purchase more in the very near future 🙂
Our of the eyeshadows I ordered Cheeky and Animal last week. Should have gotten Amaze as well.
Have you tried this brand before, or is that your first order? (I can’t remember, because I’m sure you told me.)
First order for me but I’ve been craving odd colours listtick the past month. lol
Between seeing the Lipbar, Yazi, and Inglot during the Saturday of imats and along with wanting to get Melt (always sold out) and Lime Crime; I figured this was a better bet. 😉
Sorry I should be saying Yazi Cosmtics, just Yazi doesn’t turn up the makeup line because they are fledgling. lol
LOL! So many unique lip colors to try, so little time.
I’m so excited you’re reviewing these! I love love love ColourPop! I have about 12 of the eyeshadows so far and I’ve been super impressed with their customer service. Will you be doing the Lippies as well? I’ve been curious about them, but haven’t purchased any yet.
I did get a few of the Lippie Stix, but it’s harder to swatch and move through a ton of lipsticks (a lot more sweat equity, LOL, with lip swatches involved), so I only picked up a few to try.
Oh my GAWD. Bae, Chipper, and Dare needed to be in my collection AGES ago!!
So far, I’m pretty impressed 🙂
Oh my goodness, BAE is the sky!
Also like Dasher.
I had never heard about this brand. Can’t wait for your in-depth review.
Bae is pretty cool, though the term Bae makes me feel about 400 years old, lol.
Bae is calling my name. I’m not suposed to buy more make up, but I might be tempted if the review is good.
I wonder if they are “depotable” cause now I streamline my collection on Z palettes
They are cream products and need to be kept in a tight container or else they will dry out.
thanks, that’s good to know.
I think I need Dasher in my life.
And Dancer and Vixen and Blitzen… 😉 They should have done all the reindeers! (I don’t even know if they did more than Dasher…)
These look pretty good! I’m not a fan of electric cools and cream shadows because they tend to crease on me, but at this price point, I wouldn’t mind picking up a few to try. They don’t look nuanced like illusion d’ombres, but some of these colours are really bright and fun!
Some shades are a lot more complex than any of Chanel’s, some are more one-note (like peach with white sparkle or something like that).
Bae looks interesting! Similar to MAC Club or UD Lounge, but with a cooler base, maybe? It looks more purple/blue rather than rust/green.
There is actually one that seemed like it might be like Club, though the duochrome isn’t very strong (IMO) when swatched or used.
Wow these colors look gorgeous… the payoff very good. Are they available in EU?
From their FAQ:
“DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?
We currently only ship to the USA, Canada, US Virgin Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, and APO’s. But we are working on expanding to other countries! Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when we launch in your country. Please be aware that depending on your country’s regulations, International orders may be subject to additional duty fees.”
I’m looking at the header photo, the shade that is on the bottom left corner… is that one swatched in this post? If so, what is its name? Maybe you just haven’t swatched them all and I’m jumping the gun.
It might not be swatched – I only took group shots for the actual box sets I bought, and I’m just using those as a good “look at me!” photo. Bottom left is I Love This, and you’ll see it soon. I think it’s the next sneak peek 🙂 They’ll all be up today. And if you’re really impatient, they’re already uploaded and viewable in the Swatch Gallery.
Wow! These look amazing! Thanks for swatching!
No prob, Kathy!
Will you also be reviewing the lippies? I’m not a big eyeshadow fan so I’ve been looking at the lippies for awhile but not sure what to get! Having some swatches and reviews would be so helpful!
I bought a few, but I haven’t even had a chance to photograph yet. These took all weekend to get through 🙂
Ooo! Much love for these colors!!
Monica.
Any ones that stand out to you?
Glad to see these on your site! I swatched a bunch of these a while ago on my blog, and have since ordered more shadows as well as some lippies. I think they’re pretty awesome!
That’s great!
I like these for their price a lot and its a great way for me to try out stranger colors I’d be uncomofrtable spending money on but the feel is so weird and spongey
Not a fan of the texture? You’re not the first to say it! There seems to be some who love that spongy cream eyeshadow formula (e.g. Chanel, Dior, etc.), but there are a few readers and friends who’ve been more, “Hmmm….” on them. Which ones do you have?
I can’t wait to see your reviews on these! I have been going between these and the MUG foiled shadows and would love to see how you compare them before I make a purchase!
Makeup Geek’s Foiled Eyeshadows are a powder formula, whereas these are a cream. The textures are pretty different from that perspective.
Bae and Drift stand out for me.
Bae seems pretty interesting!
Amira is gorgeous! I think I have a dupe already, but still eyeing it…..
At least you have a dupe… 🙂
I’m not familiar with Colourpop, where is it sold?
I bought mine online – I don’t think they’re available anywhere but their website.
These shadows look amazing!! Such a shame that they do not ship to the UK 🙁
Hopefully they can add UK soon!
Yay!!! I love ColourPop. I’m so happy you’re showing these. They have such awesome colors.
What brushes do you like to use with them?
I have no idea what brand the synthetic brush is. It just says, “lips.” It was probably part of a set at one point, most likely not a terribly expensive one. It’s a flat synthetic brush that is slightly tapered to a point. About 1/3″ across (too big for lips, IMO). I have a similar one from bhcosmetics that works pretty well, too.
I save the cheap sponge tip applicators out of eye shadow compacts, because you never know. Those actually work really well for patting these on if you’re like me and just make a mess applying with fingers.
As far as fluffy brushes, my favorite is BareEscentuals Eye Defining Brush, or similar angled fluffy blending brush.
Sorry to be so vague. I don’t a huge brush collection. Aside from a few bdelliums, a MAC and a Tarte, most of them are pretty inexpensive. I use e.l.f. or BareEscentuals mainly. I’m sure you and a lot of your readers would have much better recommendations.
Nothing wrong with being vague – still helpful to know the kind of materials/sizes 🙂 If it works, it works!!
Oh my god those purples, dude. Dasher looks PERFECT!
Dasher just makes me want them to have eyeshadows for all the reindeer, haha.
I’ve been waiting to read your opinion on these for a while. I recently discovered them through many Instagram MUAs and so far I’ve placed 2 orders. I absolutely love them! And the lippie stix are also my favorite new lip product (wearing Brinx right now, my favorite), I also have Fancy, Lumiere, Frida and Leather (a very lovely deep purple). I would like to see what you think about the more unusual shades like Raw, Charm, Bunny, Bull Chic and Wet.
What brush do you like to use with the eyeshadows, Jessy?
I like using a flat brush or a small shader brush, even a concealer brush works for me. I’ve also tried a regular shading brush, it’s ok for the satins and metallics, but I find that it fails to pick up the glittery shades. I’ve also used a fluffy crease brush and they blend out decently. For the more glittery ones, I think patting the product on the lids is the best way to go.
Addicted to this brand right now. Have about 9 shadows and 4 lippie sticks and pencils.
Which shades do you recommend?
Drift and Chipper are going on the list! It’s already a long list but at this price it’s ok!
lol!
omg some of these are gorgeous. Did you apply them just straight as they are? Or did you have to apply them wet to get the results in the pictures?
Double comment time! I went to find Dasher on the website and it seems to be only available if you buy it in a four pack? ;_____;
Yep, just the four pack, unfortunately!
Just as they are, not wet or anything.
Does this mean you are going to review some of their lippie stix and pencils? Thank you so much!
Sorry, I didn’t buy any of their pencils!
OMG Bae looks amazing!
Seems to be one that a lot of people are enjoying!
I have 6 of these and love the less glittery ones. I use Bae in my outer corner almost every day, no matter what other colors I’m wearing…makes the look a bit more interesting.
How fun! What do you like to use to apply these with?
I use my fingers…I will lightly blend the edges with a brush if necessary, but find that it can shake the glitter off onto my face. Really glad you’re reviewing these and showing swatches. Can’t wait to see what you think!
So glad to see your awesome swatches of these! I have a bunch and love almost all of them! Can’t wait to see what looks you come up with using these!
Happy to share!
Some seriously gorgeous colours here: I love Amaze, Amira, Bae and Deck. That Bae is a really unusual colour.
Bae does seem more unique!
I love the name “Better than a Sweater” and some of these colours look great (Amira, Cricket, Bae and Deck). I’ll be interested to see how these perform.
I think Bae is the one that stood out a lot to me, relative to some of the other shades!
wow thats amazing <3 look like really good quality 🙂
cant find doe-a-deer anywhere on the website 🙁
It’s part of one of the sets, I think, for the holidays.
*crackle of speaker system*
‘Yeah, we’re going to need cleanup on aisle 3 – some chick in a black cloak just sprayed tea all over the place and passed out at her keyboard. I think she has daggers though, so watch out’.
*crackle*
Yeah. So there are a few nice looking things here… *twitch*
LOL!
I’m trying to figure out if any of them are matte. Bandit? Cheeky? Desert? Doe-a-deer? Or do they just seem matte compared to the sparkliness of the rest? More satin? … What do you think? I also like Bae, but I have MAC Club and that seems close. There are a clear 1/2 dozen “I wants” in these swatches (I mean in all the posts). Pretty tempting!
None of them are flat matte, the lowest is more satin-y – very comparable in finish to the satin MUFE finish as well!
Aaaaagh, you got me! I came back to read your answer and ended up browsing the ColourPop posts again and … now I’m going to have to get some. [sigh]
Okay, I may need Amira and Cricket… Can’t wait to hear about how it performs. I’m seriously hoping it’s somewhat water-resistant, but hey, for $5 I’d probably enjoy them even if they weren’t.
I’ll have to play with them with water a bit to see if I can be ready to answer your query (I will probably forget to mention, since I didn’t see anything about them being water-resistant).
Thank you! My watery eyes always appreciate water-resistant product. 😀
YES! Thank you for reviewing these! Yours are among the best swatches so yay!!
No prob!
So glad to see you are reviewing these. I’ve been eyeing them and some other non-mainstream brands like Ardency Inn, Limecrime and dose of colour..although I,guess they may be “mainstream” because all the products I am wanting are constantly sold out on the latter 2. Wrapping up my gifting for others and feeling like a little splurge for me is in line perhaps. I was planning to scope out some of these brands..THEN,I heard the Wayne Goss “holiday” brush is being ‘re released soon. At $85 ,now I’m torn. I don’t really “Need” a brush or any makeup honestly. I’m not sure if the brush is worth it or not. I like the multo-purpose idea. Hard choice..I’d really appreciate Christine’s opinion ar any others if they know anything about this brush. site unseen brushes are hard for me and I’m bad at returning online cosmetics…then I regret the purchase while sits barely used.Help!
If you already have a lot of brushes, you might not find it to be “the best ever” and “worth it” from that standpoint. It’s a nice brush (both versions) – I actually like it most for Guerlain Meteorites and finishing powders.
Love colour pop! I have a bunch of the eyeshadows and a few of the lippie sticks, only two of the pencils. My favourite are first the eyeshadows followed by the pencils. The lip ie sticks-im not sure how I feel about them yet-i wanna love them-but I just don’t think I can get there….
Almost every day for the past couple of months I’ve been wearing one or two of these eyeshadows in my looks. They are so unique and go on fast, with minimal fussing. Beautiful! For sure my favourite is Bae-been wearing it exclusively for several days in a row, and that’s big-cause I never ever wear the same eyeshadows even two days in a row!!!
What’s putting you off on the Lippie Stix, Karen?
I think it’s the texture, it just doesn’t seem to mesh nicely with my lips. Almost like the consistency is too thick, or waxy, if that makes any sense. But I do absolutely love the colours, shape and packaging, they are genius in that way. Although today looking at your beautiful lip swatches is making me want to go back and try the ones I have again, see if I could change my own mind about it.
Thank you! 🙂
Wow, Bae is so gorgeous.
That seems to be the one catching everyone’s eyes!
Lovely colors! Bae reminds of a color from a Wet N Wild palette. I am not a fan of the name of the ColourPop shade…lol
It just makes me feel like a grandma, lol!
Oh my goodness…me too! I can’t get with the new age lingo…lol
I want dasher! I can’t find it on the website though. :/
Ooops, found! 😀
Glad you were able to find it, Ellie!!
