Sneak Peek: ColourPop Super Shock Cheek Photos & Swatches

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek
ColourPop Super Shock Cheek

In February, ColourPop Super Shock Cheek ($8.00 for 0.15 oz.) released in twenty shades from peach to fuchsia. I haven’t had much time with these yet, so I don’t have any insight to share quite yet (I’m wrapping up testing NARS’ formula, then I’ll move on to this one!). Hopefully I can start posting a review for a shade or two later this week or next. 🙂 The formula is designed to be similar to the Super Shock Shadows, which means it is a firmer, cream-based product (no depotting!)–the brand does say that fingertips result in highest coverage, flat synthetic brushes have “more coverage” than duo fiber brushes, which will have “sheer, air brushed” coverage. All of these have already been added to the Swatch Gallery for easy comparisons.

Gorgeous colors, I would buy them all (except Swift). Unfortunately they don’t ship to germany (yet?). I would also use some as eyeshadows :). I’m looking forward to read your reviews <3

Nikki Avatar

So excited that you’re reviewing these! I’ve been lemming Prenup and Pegacorn since I noticed them on the website, but now I’m interested in Holiday and Birthday too. Mochi looks great, but I have my pale cool pink bases covered. 🙂

daheep Avatar

I’ve been waiting for these to be reviewed! I’ve been looking for something to replace my Tarte blushes with, as I am not happy with Tarte increasing the price/downsizing the product amount. Hopefully these blushes are as great their eye shadows!

Jean Avatar

I tried applying it with a stipple brush and I wasn’t getting good color payoff so I switched to using my index and middle finger to pat it on then I blended it out with my Beauty Blender.

Danielle Avatar

I ordered Fruit Stand and Toxic when they were first released. I’m not sure how I feel about them yet because of the texture. I have to find the best way to apply them.

Danielle Avatar

I tried my fingers and a blush brush. It got clownish quickly. I need to pick up a duo fiber brush to see if its more subtle. The pigmentation is definitely there. I just don’t want to overdo.

Ester Avatar

Some of these are SO pretty. I’m very pale with dark hair and eyes and was recently considering purchasing some of the lighter shades in the Makeup Geek range, so I’m interested to see how they compare with these!

auxiliary beauty Avatar

I was crossing my fingers for one true purple in this lineup, but no such luck! I had hope for Pegacorn and Homie, but they both look more pink than purple. You’d think that a company that makes mint and aqua lipsticks could have come up with a lavender or violet blush…

Raven Avatar

I am not 100% sure if they cannot be depotted. I dont own any of the blushes (yet! Lol) but on my eecent order a few weeks again I received an eyeshadow that was broken; it had the shattered crumbly look but I saw part of a silver pan in the white casing. I might experiment and see if its depottable

Elle Avatar

Don’t depot them! They’re in a deep case for a reason, so you can really close them air tight! They’re such a unique texture that air dries them out, they suggest you close the products as soon as your done applying them and always close them up good and tight! I know they’re kind of clunky in all the small pots but better to have a special bin for them then have all your pretty blushes and eyeshadows dry up on you

Jessica Avatar

Even though thwy look really different in the pan and when swatched, i feel like all blushes within a certain color (all blushes within the purple category or within the cool toned pink category) look the same actually ON even though two cool pink blushes could look different in the pan they look the same on the cheeks and give the exact same effect. Thats why i kind of hate blushes

Lisa Avatar

Oh no, I love about half of these. At least they’re only $8 so I won’t feel guilty if I go a little crazy. 😉 Can’t wait to read your reviews!

Nicole Avatar

Hooray! I am so happy you got all of them! I was going to order one or two to try and narrowed my selections down to 12! haha! I love all of them! I am honestly kinda jealous you have them all . I hope they do well. Because at $8 a piece and permanent status, I may wind up with all too! Way to go ColourPop and congrats on this awesome haul Christine! Your beautiful cheeks getting a workout!:D

Nicole Avatar

I couldn’t decide..So, I just put them in my cart and hoped you would review. If not I was going to order one or two eventually and the Rebound and Shaan XO collections which have been waiting for me,lol. Those shadows though are so cluttering my space since I am dragging on getting my organizing together still (such a chore!). But, you must be a mind reader! Can’t wait for your reviews! My blush drawer has room!

Nicole Avatar

I know! It’s hard to Not get so many because they are so affordable and great quality too mostly. But, I ordered so many shadows and have mine in a big Zip lock baggie in my shadows drawer. But I guess because of all the “work” it takes to get to them with the lids and baggie,I tend not to go for them too much because I am usually rushing.I would like to make a big magnet board or a drawer or something where you can actually see the colors and just pop it off or grab it. i am not a crafty gal and am single. So that type of handy work takes forever to get done!

Lotus Avatar

One thing I was hoping from beauty in 2015 was more color options for women of color. Seeing these make me so proud of this company! Now if a company can do that with base products! Fingers crossed for diversity! Excellent! 🙂

Lacie Avatar

Duo fiber brushes are perfect with this formula. It applies it in a sheer, buildable, perfectly blended layer.

I have aphrodisiac and I’ve been using it as a contour and it’s amazing!

Maria Avatar

Hi Christine, with these blushes are you finding that they are hard to apply? What type of brush are you using to apply these?

Maria Avatar

I know we’re so anxious for you to try them all! lol So far I purchased Homie, Pie, Pegacorn, Mochi, Fruit Stand and Holiday. I’ve tried Holiday and Mochi and they are beautiful. The only problem is you have to watch how to apply these because you can end up looking like a clown, lol. I over did Mochi and end up with two very bright cheeks! One thing about these is they are very long lasting – I’d say about 6 to 8 hrs.

Kitty Avatar

Most of these don’t really “speak” to me. I like blush to look a bit natural (and there’s a wide range of reds, pinks, corals, etc. that can be considered natural). Many of the Colour Pop blushes look like costume makeup to me or are just way too flat and one-dimensional.

I realize I’m perhaps in the minority but I did purchase about a dozen of the Colour Pop lipstix and found most were way too white-based so that they looked way too bright to be flattering. I think it’s a function of how the company mixes its products. It looks like the blushes suffer from a similar one-tone type thing. Just not my thing, I guess.

Mina Avatar

All of the colors I ordered turn out the same – simply red checks with unevenly applied blush:( I even have one blush unpacked as I have doubts in it. Either I have reaction on it, or it’s not good…

Mina Avatar

It’s really strange that they look the same – it’s holiday, prenup and early bird. I have really fair skin and try to apply blush really lightly. But I can see on your swatches that many of them have the same red color base – they look really different in the tube but turn out really close on skin.

Rachel R. Avatar

If it’s not the blush, it could be your skin chemistry. If I don’t wear foundation or BB cream, I oxidize and acidify a lot blushes to the same orange-red color.

I also find it helps to clean brushes after every use, as the colors get muddled together in the bristles.

Mina Avatar

Yes, I have this issue with some blushes(tarte, nyx, now colourpop), I wear powder foundation and it helps a bit, but even with liquid foundation still all of them turn out quite the same with this red base. And I’m quite sure it’s not an allergy because when I wipe them off my skin is not red or irritated. Still figuring out what is the problem.

Rachel R. Avatar

Wow! These look gorgeous. I was so tempted to get a couple with my last order, but I decided to wait for reviews. They look good, though. 🙂

Sarah Avatar

I already have Fruit Stand, Tonic, and Homie in my cart. May add Cheerio too as per your swatches. I’ll wait until your final review, though! I have developed a serious problem for bright blush. My last trip to Sephora was kinda disappointing because I didn’t come across any nice vivids that really grabbed me (within my budget!).

I’m kind of nervous about this formula, though. It’s cream-to-powder, right? I’m not sure if it’ll be good on oily skin??? Must look that up.

Meghan Avatar

Wow so many comments already! I feel late to the party! 😀

Looking at these swatches I feel like I can hear angels singing! I have lots on my wish list: Between the Sheets, Cheerio, Fruit Stand, Pegacorn, Early Bird, Fox, Bonus & Tonic. I’m an absolute sucker for blushes! Can’t wait to see the ratings & dupes (I likely have a few 😛 )

Alecto Avatar

It’s nice to see some true mattes — seems like they’re getting harder and harder to find in blushes. I’m intrigued by aphrodisiac, but it looks like a shimmer finish. Bummer. I wish I hadn’t gone on a very deliberate wipe-the-slate-clean and get-every-every-color-I-might-need blush buying spree a couple months ago; now I can’t justify getting any of these.

Still, Aphrodisiac is really intriguing …

Alex Avatar

I got Holiday when they came out, I really like it but it’s the first blush I’ve ever had so I can’t really compare it to anything. I like to use my fingers to apply it and blend it out.

Arielle Avatar

I’m interested to see how these wear and how they look applied instead of swatches. I’m new to blush and prefer it really really subtle thus far. That and my pale skin means some of these swatches are very bold and scary to me haha. But I know blush never seems to wear as severe as it swatches so will await further reviews. Thanks Christine for getting the sneak peek out.

masha Avatar

Christine, you have the best swatch gallery for these blushes! It is gorgeous to look at and you have all the colors. I keep coming back to this review and keep changing my mind as to what color to pick. I am currently obsessing over Fox and Prenup. Which shades would you recommend for a light skin tone with a tentency to lean towards light medium?

Lotus Avatar

YAY!!!! I found it! 😀 you DID do it like with MUFE, in a row. Thank you! 😀 it’s also great to see you reviewing perfumes! A+++! So well done! I’m so happy how well this is going for you! Cheek fun time! 😀
