Sneak Peek: ColourPop Spring 2018 Super Shock Shadows Photos & Swatches

ColourPop Spring 2018 Super Shock Shadows & Pigments
ColourPop Spring 2018 Super Shock Shadows & Pigments

There are several new (and a few re-releases) for spring in ColourPop Super Shock Shadow & Pigment ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) range. The spring set has a mix of mattes, pearls, and glittery shades. As a heads up, if you’re not familiar with the range, the Super Shock Pigments are “not intended for use in the immediate eye area,” which is a caveat that we’ve often seen with brighter, more neon-hued shades from ColourPop and other brands.

I’ve never tried the super shocks before but now I’m eyeing two of these: frog seems like a beautiful eyeshadow topper and daddy is very in the color-of-the-year trend.

Was ready to say that nothing here interested me in the least, but then I saw Issa and Frog! I love their neutral glitter bomb eyeshadows like Frog, they look amazing alone or as a topper. I bought 2 backups of the Alchemy shade from the Jaime King collection for that reason.

As usual, pretty good, at an attractive price. Really, it’s no wonder they are killing it with m/u lovers. And they restock, in most cases, so we can wait to see what you say.

Hi all,
Can anyone enlighten me on how you’re supposed to use eyeshadow (that is what these are, no?)
not in the immediate eye area? How do you use it so it’s safe? No makeup is worth damaging my eyes over……Thanks!

Christine Avatar

Hi Gilad,

It is often the result of using pigments/color additives that aren’t approved for usage on the eye by FDA but that these same pigments/color additives are approved for use on the eye by other regulatory bodies (I’m most familiar with Canada and EU not having to issue these warnings on the exact same products). You could use them as a cheek color or lip tint, in theory.

Hi! This is my first comment/post – I’m a huge fan of this site!
I only recently learned of super shock shadows, and I already have a ton. I’ve purchased Cuteologist, No Promises, Don’t Leave, and Side Kick (the swatches don’t do it justice – I’m really impressed!). After seeing the swatches, I may β€œneed” a few more….

These are fantastic! I just got my order of 8 of them & they are just great!! I chose two sets, the purples & the greens/blues, and I got Twitterpated & Side Kick. (Side Kick is bright orange on me, though, so not at all the gold that it looks on others, so I’ll likely not use that one quite as often.)

Frog may be my favorite eyeshadow of all time! It is SPECTACULAR!! πŸ™‚ If you don’t like glitter then you need to stay far away from this one.

The blue/green set creates an insta-mermaid look & is great for dreary wintery days but will be perfect for spring & summer.

If you’re considering getting these, you should jump on them while they’re still in stock.

Issa looks beautiful, but has no place in my makeup πŸ™ I just don’t like wearing purples, and it wouldn’t get used quick enough as a smudged liner to justify getting it. And I’m pretty sure I have dupes of the reds and neutrals, which is great for my no-buy!

I am blown away by this color range. Genuinely, my jaw is dropped. So beautiful!!!! I love how the swatches look like the pigmentation is gonna be nice and smooth on the ones I am interested in. (Monkey Business, Zoomship, Daddy and Snapdragon) Snapdragon might be a little questionable (I initially thought it was matte but the consistency appears to be slightly satin and have sparkle. Also maybe not the most opaque?) but all in all this release has my full attention! I eagerly anticipate your review, Christine!

Oh wow! Issa looks so much prettier in a swatch than just in the pan!

Special Delivery is gorgeous and tempting but I know that that tone doesn’t tend to look right on me… And I really don’t need it, because I have a shade similar to that in the Bare Minerals Ready 8.0 Posh Neutrals Palette (that was their replacement for the 10/$10 loose shadow technical glitch).

I wish I was filthy rich and could have literally all of the Super Shocks on a massive magnetic board next to my vanity. πŸ˜›
