ColourPop: SPRING??? Huh???
Okay, so now they done lost their minds. There is absolutely nothing “Springy” about this collection. I was truly waiting on CP to give us some hardcore ultraviolet themed Spring eyeshadow palette, blushes, and everything else!

On the other hand, for someone like myself, who doesn’t want to invest in a bunch of very large super warm-toned e/s palettes or perhaps a specific brand’s warm palette; this mini in that thematic looks GOOD! As does the highlighter palette. Fuggedabout those lipsticks, though.

AJ Avatar

I’m with you, Nancy! I could see this as a Valentine’s Day romantic themed launch. But it’s definitely not saying spring to me, either.

I’d like to see ColourPop be more adventurous with their palettes. I mean they set out to have sort of a fast fashion, always something new and trendy, business model. Why do they keep hitting us with these really basic palettes? Yes, give me an Ultraviolet themed palette. Give me some unique spring pastels. Don’t give me these same rosy neutrals that almost every brand can give me.

Elizabeth Avatar

From my brain to your typing fingers! This is a pretty palette, but I probably already have three dupes of every shade. Give me some springy hues! Please ?

jel888 Avatar

Ha!, you said it. I saw this and thought,”Ah, is this new? And from them, is it new?” If someone gave this to me, I’d give it away (to someone who’d I’d have to likely hunt down to find that doesn’t have these colors.) Shocked.

is it me or what’s up? Tarte, now Colour Pop, is there no inspiration or marketing planning?

I will be purchasing the eyeshadow palette, but I think the date is January 25th (not 2nd). I hope there’s not a mad rush and it sells out before you have a chance to log in.

Aline Avatar

I love Colourpop and have a lot of their stuff, but they need to stop with the warm neutrals. Those liquid lipsticks look really drying. I hope they come out with something new in terms of colors soon.

Chelsea Avatar

I feel like Colourpop missed the boat with the tone of this eyeshadow palette? I don’t hate it, but it’s just very ‘meh’ to me.. I would still consider picking it up, as I like the mini palettes for travelling, but it’s just not wowing me at all. Everything else is an easy pass for me.

Susan Avatar

That sound you hear is me hitting my face against my keyboard. More warm neutrals. More red eye colors that make most of us look ill. More matte lip products that look so dry it’s painful. I’m saving SO MUCH money lately! (Christine, this is not meant as a slam against you at all. You have to review what’s released and you do so with some of the best swatches and photos on the web!)

Beth Avatar

Haven’t they released almost this exact same palette three times already? I started buying Colourpop because their Super Shock shadows had such vibrant, unusual colors that were hard to find elsewhere. I’m bummed they haven’t taken that aesthetic into their pressed palettes.

Jessica Avatar

I’m getting more muted Modern Renaissance vibes from the eyeshadow palette. I never went for MR because I didn’t think I’d use the boldest colors, so this tempts me…

Genevieve Avatar

Sometimes I think brands get confused with the seasons, anyway – the eyeshadow palette is lovely as an inexpensive take on many of the others out there in the market with similar shades. The highlighter palette seems pretty, but those matte liquid lipsticks look awful the way they have settled.

Ugh more orange Avatar

Another warm orangey palette. I don’t get it. Two of their most loved palettes, Yes Please! and the Fem Rosa SHE palette, are/were best sellers because they were unique. This orange palette is the copy of Tarte’s copy of the UD Naked Heat palette like a year after it launched. And they already have like 4 warm brown palettes plus YP!, which covers the oranges. Blech.

If they came out with a cool toned palette with actual mauves (not the reds and hot pinks in the Huda “mauve” palette or the orange that ND calls mauve), different greys and taupes, some killer purples and bomb glittery accents, people would absolutely lose their minds. Why aren’t companies getting that people are ready for something different? Look what happened with Desert Dusk. That was the palette of the year, not one of these basic af warm orange/brown palettes. I need a pulling-out-my-hair emoji.

(None of this is aimed at you, btw, just ranting. <3)

Susan Avatar

LOL at your user name! I so agree with you. Will SOMEBODY come out with a palette with true mauves (not red, not orange), gray, silver, taupe, purple (not another warm plum), a nice navy blue instead of yet another black that I’ll never touch? Anybody? Please??

I swear ColourPop and Tarte both take the same twelve warm, brownish colors and just rearrange them in every new release palette.

Anne Avatar

I’m going to repeat pretty much what’s already been said…more warm neutrals, this is dupe city and an easy pass for me. Colour Pop has some of last years Super Shocks on sale and I think my cash would be best spent on those and/or a couple of the new brights they already released for Spring.

Brian Avatar

If that is their new ultra matte formula…that looks terrible. I am disappoint. Even if it isn’t actually drying, I have rarely seen a liquid lipstick formula shrivel your lips up to that degree.

Kim Avatar

I was really interested by the palette, but it reminds so much of You Had Me at Hello also by color pop (is it just me?). I am not sure I want to pick it up now. The highlighter palette reminds me of ABH and Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit, but it’s not a bad thing!

janine Avatar

I’ve actuallly warmed up to the warm colors! Lol I started using warmer tones in my crease and learning to use them so I don’t look like I have an eye infection.

But I have very similar colors isn’t every palette like this for the last six months? The highlighter palette is too much. I refuse to buy it for 2 shades I like.

Matte lips yuck.

kjh Avatar

Oy, vey! STOTS! (So tired of….) With YP and YHM@H, this is covered. Coverrrrred. I thought CP broke new ground. Maybe some with the SSSs, but the powder palettes are getting yawnworthy. I could go for On Tempo as a single, but feel pretty lit out. This could be the low buy year by default!

Veronica Avatar

At first I was stoked because I love my vibrant Colourpop palettes but… wow, these are so boring! Neutrals! More colors everyone already has in their collection! Spring is such a good time to do some bright yellow/greens/pinks or pastels. CP has so many great singles, why not put them in a nice, vibrant palette mixed with maybe one or two neutrals? Obviously they’re thinking about sales, but still!

The only colors I’m drawn to are Be Blunt and TMI, but I definitely have dupes of those already. Christine, your eye look is beautiful though! Very Valentine’s Day feeling!

Ann Avatar

I do prefer the warm oranges and reds myself but Morphe’s have more variety greens and blues and purples and the formulas just as good. I know some YouTubers are comparing the new highlighter formula palette to the Hourglass ambient..just sayin 🙂

elizabethstiras Avatar

This eye palette reminded me of their She palette that I bought not too long ago. BS is a really nice color, but perhaps I’ll get it as a single.

I’ve sworn not to try any more of their liquid lipsticks. They’re too dry and the competition has surpassed them in terms of comfortable formulas. Only Lasplash is worse.

Betty Avatar

The eye shadow palette looks like other palettes I’ve bought from them, shades too similar to justify another. The highlighter palette looks good if the quality is there (I would use the darkest shades as eye shadows, too dark for my skin tone). The liquid lipsticks have pretty colors but I am so done with matte liquid lipsticks that make the lips look and feel dry, I won’t even consider. I agree with the others that a spring themed violet collection would have been more welcome.

Jen Avatar

I must be the only crazy person that’s genuinely debating ordering this new eyeshadow palette, haha! I don’t have a truly neutral, everyday palette I can reach for (how? I’m stupid picky), but the UD x Kristen Leanne Daydream palette is also tempting. I feel where everyone has a million neutrals to choose from, I have every shade of red, burgundy, wine, gold and rose gold.

…I might need help ?

Cory Avatar

I got the palette. Couldn’t resist the colour scheme. This is my everything lol! Look at them from light to dark, they’re so perfect! I know they’re hardcore dupable but I’ll be damned if I don’t love it.
Also got the purple blush (Rain) & the light purple sheen highlighter (Rocket Science), & one of their new brow pencils.

For the spring lovers, this is Colour Pop, they’re constantly releasing new stuff, they’re not stopping here.
