Sneak Peek: ColourPop I Think I Love You Pressed Powder Shadow Palette
ColourPop I Think I Love You Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($16.00 for 0.36 oz.) is the newest, limited edition pre-made palette from the brand (and as I put this post together… last night for me, this morning for you, it was still available!). It’s an incredibly warm-toned, orange-copper palette with a lot of metallic finishes. There were three mattes in the palette and one satin, while the rest were pearly to metallic.
First Impressions
The formula used in this palette felt comparable to the Pressed Powder Shadow formula I’m familiar with–soft, blendable, pigmented, and long-wearing. There were a couple of shades, like Level Up and Rule Breaker that had some larger sparkles that seemed to migrate more than ideal when blended but didn’t have tons of fallout. I think that the inclusion of the black eyeshadow (Let’s Do It) throws the palette off visually–it’s just so deep, dark, and “cool” in comparison to the rest of the palette. I think a really deep brown or plum might have given contrast and more versatility. The black eyeshadow tended to overwhelm the other shades from my experience using the palette.

Looks great on you and this palette looks as good as ones that cost 4-5 times as much. I wish everybody and her mother would quit putting a black shadow in every palette. I get what it’s for but for me it’s a waste of space.
Black = agree 100%! Enough already
I agree. We all have to have at least a half dozen in our stashes already. I also think Christine is correct; a dark brown or deep burgundy would be a better fit.
I never use black eye shadow – it is so harsh and I don’t know why it has to live in every palette.
I soooo agree about black in EVERY palette. Who doesn’t have more than enough black shadows to see them through the next 20 years or more? Having said that, this is gorgeous and such a great value. When I compare it to the Marc Jacobs palette I returned that has fewer shadows and for 4 or 5 times the price, I’m left shaking my head. I just wish I could get Colour Pop here, in-store.
Very nice! Not colors I would wear, but very nice none the less!
This is so gorgeous, wish I could justify buying another palette right now!
I think I love “I Think I Love You”! Easy for me to visualize having this as a travel or on the go palette, plus using many of its shimmery and metallic shades with Yes, Please palette! The black shade *may* seem to be an outlier, shade wise, but I can definitely appreciate its inclusion for use as a an undereye smudgey, smokey liner and a cut-crease definer (many times, I cut my crease with black or the deepest monochromatic shade I have).
Her demos and this comment are making a good case to purchase this..enabled, I am:)
Yes, I get why a black shadow is in a palette, but as I’ve gotten older (I’m in my 50s), black shadow or liner is WAY too harsh on me. A dark brown or gray is much better.
For me personally, black is an absolute must have. I use black eyeshadow literally every single day on my water lines and to deepen my outer v. I’ll even use black as a base coat on my lid to deepen the color I put on top. For instance I’ll put black all over the lid and sweep Mac’s Old Gold over top of it and it looks so awesome! Aldo I do have a ton of blacks in my collection but only a few of them are true dark black and pigmented.. It would be nice to see a good quality richly pigmented black in a premade palette so I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed 🙂
Doesn’t everyone who likes warm eyeshadows have dupes for all of these shades by now?
I am pretty sure we do! None of these shades are original by any stretch of the imagination.
There are a lot of unoriginal palettes out there but I figure they appeal to either gift givers or makeup newbies. That’s fine! I just don’t think either of those demographics are buying ColourPop though, since it’s internet only.
I totally agree about the black..it throws it off..a deep plum or brown would have suited much better. Even a deep, pinky or coraly shade. I wasn’t as intrigued with the colors on this as I was with Yes Please. But do like some colors on here, especially that yellow one..looks fun 🙂
I just wanted to add..I LOVE the look you did..you added the plum that was missing! It looks soooo good! Great work:)
Agree on the “missing” plum. See, Christine, you should have your own line. You’re really good at color combos and can (unlike moi) see beyond what’s there to supply what’s missing.
I ordered mine
Quality looks good, love the eye look you did!
This is nice enough but I think these shades have been fairy well repped in their individual pressed powders pretty well. And who doesn’t have colours like this already with the approximately 98 billion neutral palettes already on the market?
I want to see Colourpop do fun and funky stuff, like a Bird of Paradise palette with rich olive green and metallic chartreuse, golden flamingo coral and iridescent indigo, matte mango and a murky swamp brown… Or a beautiful cool toned palette with smutty taupes and purples, pewtery golds and pale pinks and deep, muted charcoal matte with a couple of interesting duochrome shades and call it Genie Genius (hah!) or something…
Love these shades. Love them so much I have them 5x or 10x over. Easy pass.
Really gorgeous shades, and I do agree with you Christine – the black does look strange and out of place. A darker brown or plum would have been so much better as a contrast shade.
I’m getting UD Naked Heat dupe in this one.
This is such a pretty palette, and so inexpensive. Gorgeous eye look, Christine. I love the purple liner with it.
The black in the palette doesn’t bother me as much as the overall look of the palette. It just doesn’t pull at my heartstrings as something I need to have. Boring is quite the word I’m looking for but I felt very meh about this palette overall
Agree on having so many black repeats in each palette I own, also the lightest colors but luckily in this one is not much. Reason why I didn’t end up with UD Naked Heat too many repeats of those shades I hardly use for $54.00. Uh! Finally got the Yes Please from Colourpop and loving it! I would love to get this one for my daughter maybe for Christmas. Also the Iluvsarahii is gorgeous! Power to the Warm shades although I’m pale just cannot even start liking the cool palettes if I tried. They lack excitement to me! 🙂
I have dupes for every single shade and the purple liner, so I will try and replicate your eye look!
I think these shades are really pretty!! Wow!
The shades in this palette would suit me well except for the yellow and black. I’d give the yellow a go on Packers game days. ?
As a dark skinned woman, the black shadow was one of the main reasons i bought it! So many beautiful palettes i pass up because I can’t do a “complete look.” Like the Too Faced matte peach, I wanted it but id have to use it with another palette. So this is rare and great!
I really like this palette but since I placed a $125.00 ColourPop order the end of last week and still hasn’t shipped, I think I will pass. I have dupes for all of these shades. Plus, I had determined that I had purchased enough palettes and then the Natasha Denona and Huda palettes hit the Instagrams and my resolve is fading fast. It isn’t helping that my daughter sent me a couple of looks done with each palette and they were drop dead gorgeous. I am going to have to make a decision about them pretty soon and of course then I have to fight the overwhelming process of ordering on the drop date. I am really coming to like the pre-order process as I don’t have to be stressed trying to buy something I have made up my mind I really want.
I’m tempted to buy one if they’re not already long-sold out. I also like the fact that they don’t give their colors “cutesy” sex-oriented names.
I very nearly bought this but I’m in the UK and it’s only worth it if I spend $50 to get the free shipping. I’ve only just recently placed an order so can’t afford to do it right now.
It does however remind me a bit of the urban decay x Gwen palette, which I absolutely love.
Rule Breaker looks quite similar to the new Fenty Trophy Wife highlighter. Am I wrong?
I got mine today and I’m loving it. My first of the Colourpop pressed shadows and wow I’m really impressed! Totally agree about the black, though this one seems good quality it’s just not needed in every palette in my opinion.
