Sneak Peek: Chanel Spring 2011 Makeup Collection

Chanel for Spring/Summer 2011

“Karl Lagerfeld showed me a sketch he had drawn of a girl with smoky eyes, so it was clear that we would put the focus on the eyes for this show. The inspiration for the color came from the black-white-green French garden that was recreated in the Grand Palais, from the glow that we can find in black, grey and white pearls, and the enamel that Karl integrated into the costume jewelry. I created deep, dark smoky eyes on a luminous fresh face with tinted, dewy lips. Nails were graphic and strong, and a thin black line was drawn in the hair.” – Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup

I saw some pics of this last night and got so excited! Thanks for the full list Christine!! 🙂

Poudre Universelle Libra Natural Finish Loose Powder – I think this is supposed to give you a “glow”, I’m really curious about this one.

Rouge Coco Shine in Boy (April 2011) – I heard this is a new line of the RCs! I wonder what the packaging will look like.

I’m sorry – but this all black look reminds me of racoons!!! I would never wear all black all over my eyes like this because I would be self-conscious about looking stupid and too over-the-top. I guess it’s ok for the runways, though. LOL

The model on the right has amazing eyes and the dark shadow does make them stand out but otherwise it’s all a bit meh for me, not what I’d call inspiring to be honest. Maybe in a tiny bit boring (Chanel, boring? Shock! Horror!) even… Sorry Mr Lagerfeld.

Oh, and that black line in the hair part is just weird.

Completely agree with you. What is up with the line in the hair? I know it is for a runway show but it still does not make sense or seem original to me. Chanel I expected more from you! Could you really see anyone wearing this in spring weather? It seems more fall and winter to me.

The make up does not photograph well at all. They look like pretty raccoons. I didn’t know THAT much work went into creating this look until I saw the close up shot. It is still not an overly wearable look. I like having eyebrows!

All been done before, except for the absurd line down the head. I have a pic of me and Ozzy when I met him several years ago and we were both rockin’ this eyeshadow look. I should sell it to Chanel and they could use it as a promo!

I am sitting this one out. I love my pastels for the spring. I wear dramatic all the time in winter fall. So ready for bright spring colors. 🙂

The colors are pretty for spring. I’ll leave the striped part for the runway girls. Do you by any chance have a bottle picture of the 2 nail lacquers? I’d read somewhere that Chanel was doing a blue polish, unnamed at that time, for the Resort Collection. I don’t know Resort vs. Spring – is it so?

A dept store salesclerk, chanel, also thought Nouvelle Vague & Particuliere are going to be “core” colors. Any inside info? Thank you.

Okay for the runway maybe, but if you walked out of the house like that, I think most people would think you were terrible at putting on makeup…

I get runway looks are over-the-top and sometimes even outrageous, but this just looks ridiculous as well as totally boring. The raccoon look will never be trendy or at all desirable. So sorry, Chanel. I agree with a commenter above. This would totally suit a Halloween Zombie.

adrianne Avatar

I might be alone on this one lol, but I actually like their raccoon inspired makeup…..
nevertheless I won’t be attempting it, I’d just look like an ass

cant wait to see the what the colors in the new quad look like when it comes out, and also the two nail polishes for spring! hope they are unique must-haves that set the bar!!

the RC in Boy seems very dainty and pretty!

A new formula of Rouge Coco?!?! A shine formula ?!?! I can’t wait!!!! I have a feeling they may be fazing out Aqualumieres, hear any thing in re to this?

With the exception of the black line in the hair I love this collection and suspect the photos simply don’t do the colors justice. I particularly love the way the peacock tahitian gray eyeshadow looks on the blue eyed model. I can’t wait until this is available as that will be my first purchase. Also, loving the pale skin…as is my hubby.

I saw these samples in my Holt Renfrew store today, I could only look, no swatches, but all the colors are truly beautiful – the nail colors, the 5 quad, the 2 lipsticks – I put them all on order. These photos do not do these products justice. The Black Pearl is amazing – but I wasn’t allowed to try it so don’t know what it will be like on my nails yet. Overall – the photographer is to blame for the mixed postings here – the pics are weird, no getting around it.
