Smoky Eyes: Kat Von D Memento Mori Look

Smoky Eyes:  Kat Von D Memento Mori Look

Is it really Thursday?  Already?  I can’t believe it’s July 1st!  I only have about a month left of summer (aka no school) — time flies so fast sometimes.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249, then apply Tattle Tale cream eyeshadow onto the lid as a color base. Using the 239, apply Sugar Skull eyeshadow on the inner half of the lid and pull upwards along the inner crease. Lightly blend Peggy eyeshadow on the outer half of the lid with the 239. Next, apply Tijuana eyeshadow into the crease with the 226. Blend Brule eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone.   Lightly tap Sugar Skull eyeshadow along the upper crease and then soften.  Bring everything together by applying Black Metal Love pencil on the lower lash line and Sugar Skull eyeshadow patted below. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply #15 Natural blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Indecent lipstick first, and then layer Midnight Cowboy lip junkie for a complementing lip.

Oooo this is such a pretty look – and it seems to work well with brown eyes too! I have dark brown eyes but i find it hard to pull off bright blue eyeshadow, i really have to give this one a try (:

I love how you combined the colors to come up with a really different, beautiful smokey look. I’m going to search my MAC and Smashbox stash to see if I can do something even a little like this. Beautiful and impressive!

very pretty look!! I have this palette and used it alot and now I have kinda forgot about it, but this look really makes me want to revist the palette..thanks!!!

ohh so pretty. thanks for the “closed eye” photo. I would not have known where to put all of those colors and i’d probably end up looking like I got a bruised eye 🙁

Gorgeous! I love how this look strikes me as “seasonless” — it’s bold, and bright, but it seems like it would work in spring, summer, OR autumn 🙂 (Not so sure about winter, but then again, that’s probably just because it goes down to minus thirty here >.<)

I really liked this palette but the last time I was at Sephora this one was no longer on the shelves – I’ll have to investigate. It may be the only Kat Von D palette I would buy.

Mindy Avatar

Wow! The palette didn’t look that amazing to me but I love this look! I may have to give it a 2nd chance. Sugar Skull looks so awesome!

You’re pretty enough that you’d probably look great in any colours, but these really do suit you so well. You look radiant and I am forever jealous of your ability to pull off teal/ aqua shades- they’re very finicky on me.

this is such a beautiful look, definitely one of my favorites so far. I’m so glad that you picked up a Kat Von D palette. I hope in the future when she releases more palette and you’ll be able to show us looks with it.

You really look gorgeous!Usually y prefer more natural looks but this one is really something! it looks great on you! As always you know exactly how to make a difference;-)

I love how there is just a touch of the teal in the look. It really makes the color pop and doesn’t look to overwhelming. Love this look! Can’t wait to try it out.

Definitely one of my fave looks by you! Love it, it’s gorgeous on you! & YOUR EYEBROWS… I LOVE your eyebrows! I seriously do.
What do you use to fill them in?

This is my favorite look that you’ve done so far, you look so pretty. I didn’t realize by looking at the palette that it could produce such a glam look!

Caroline Avatar

I love this look. It seems very wearable to me. Is there anything like Tijuana made by anyone else? I’m really lemming the palette now.

Leslie Avatar

Just gorgeous, you’re glowing!!! This is my favorite look – I’ll have to take my unused palette out and give it a try!

Kimberley Avatar

Absolutely LOVE this. If I could pull off this look – I would feel a million dollars, because that’s how stunning you look Christine! If only we got Kat Von D here in Australia! *shakes fists*

Rosie Avatar

I love the look! I’m wearing it out today and used the Lemon Chiffon shadestick I got from you for the first time instead of Tattle Tale :)! And also the Utterly Posh Dazzleglass which I hadn’t noticed how nice it looked for summer so I put that on top of Fresh Salmon :). Thanks for the look. I tried a look like this just last Saturday with this palette and over blended so thanks for the tips on how to use the colors better (feathering not swiping, it helped a lot!)

I immitated this look today for work (I used Obsessive Compulsive’s Lafayette, MUFE’s #83, and an Aromaleigh shadow that I think is called Amber) and soooo many customers complimented my makeup! Well done, you!

chicgeek Avatar

I think I need to try this one… 🙂

Also, a side note, I’m a half-Japanese half-French Canadian and it’s nice to see someone with somewhat similar colouring having fun with makeup! (Hapa?) Whee!

Great look! I know I should probably be commenting on the eyeshadow instead of your actual irises but I have to say, they are probably the coolest irises I’ve ever seen LOL leopard print! 🙂 Love your reviews and tutorials btw! xo Tasha from Toronto
