Smashbox Petal Metal Liquid Eye Liners Reviews, Photos, Swatches

24K Rose
Smashbox 24K Rose Petal Metal Liquid Eye Liner ($24.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright, light-medium copper with a hint of red and warmer undertones paired with a metallic sheen. It had opaque pigmentation in a single, fluid stroke that applied evenly. The consistency was fluid and pigmented enough that it worked particularly well for longer lines done in a single, fluid motion. It was wet, though, and did take a bit longer to dry down. Once it set, it stayed on well for 10 hours without flaking or fading.

Black Rose
Smashbox Black Rose Petal Metal Liquid Eye Liner ($24.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a rich black with subtle, warmer brown undertones and multi-colored pearl–gold and purple dominated–and a glossy finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that could be built up but was best applied in a single, fluid stroke for maximum coverage. The texture was a little more watery than ideal, so it had a tendency to bleed into fine lines a bit when I used it on my lower lash line but was better when applied over eyeshadow (which helped to “fill in” the texture of my lids better). It lasted for 10 hours without flaking or smudging.

I purchased Black Rose and am enjoying it very much, especially for someone who doesn’t normally wear a liner. I do wish the shimmer were a little more pronounced. The other shade, 24k Rose is really lovely but I can’t wear the shade.
I swatched Black Rose in store, so pretty!!
Black Rose is just amazing looking. But, I see nothing at all suggesting that it’s waterproof, though. Pretty much a deal breaker, unless there’s a way to make it stay in place even if the allergy tearing starts up.
These are so pretty but I’ve never tried to learn to use liquid liners and at 41 I just don’t see myself ever managing it. I have tried several brands, most recently the UD Razor ones and it’s just a big ol’ mess. If it just meant cleaning up a wobbly line that would be one thing, but anything too liquidy and I inevitably get it onto my contacts and I cannot handle that!
It’s funny, dzymzlzy, that although I’m not a huge user of eyeliner overall, I’ve only ever used liquid eyeliner.
I wish someone could teach me how to use pencil liners, so it doesn’t look like I’m a pre-schooler with a crayon. 🙂
Such gorgeous shades, especially the rose gold.
I had to buy the rose gold, it’s so pretty. But I have no idea when or how I’ll ever wear it.
I bought the 24K with Rose liner. I wear it on my upper lash line with some of the shades of the Smashbox Petal Metal eyeshadows. It’s a nice shade that brightens the eye area. I apply a thin line slowly & carefully. I liken it to sketching slowly with a pencil only it’s a liquid pencil.
I just picked both of them up yesterday. I haven’t had time to play with them but I can’t wait!
