Smashbox Night Shoot Photo Edit Eye Shadow Trio Review, Photos, Swatches
Night Shoot
Smashbox Night Shoot Photo Edit Eye Shadow Trio ($22.00 for 0.11 oz.) includes a soft beige, dirty gold, and dark taupe-brown. I liked the color scheme they were going for here, and I think they can be used together as a single, cohesive look. The quality was better than most of the trios, but I’d still recommend primer as a must-have for the formula.

Vanilla
Vanilla is a soft beige with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had nearly opaque pigmentation with a soft, velvety texture that was somewhat powdery in the pan, but it retained most of its pigmentation after I blended out the edges on my lid. This shade wore well for seven hours on me.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to be "super-blendable" and "richly-pigmented." I found the quality to vary a lot from shade to shade, even with a trio, as some shades had soft, blendable texture and others were drier, dusty, and messy to work with and had pigmentation that sheered out or faded quickly. I wanted to like them more than I ended up after using them on the lid as I routinely felt like the brighter shades never looked quite as vibrant in practice as they did in the pan. Most of the shades were blendable and had coverage from medium to opaque with a few being sheer. They lasted anywhere from five to eight hours on me.

Moon Me
Moon Me is a soft, dirty gold with warm udnertones and a metallic sheen. It had rich color payoff with a lightly powdery consistency that was prone to fallout during application (even when I tapped away the excess). The color stayed on well for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Smoke Break
Smoke Break is a meidum-dark, taupe-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was fantastic, while the texture was smooth, dense without being stiff, and blendable. It applied well to bare skin and lasted for eight hours before fading on me.

This combo is pretty, would be great for travel!
At first glance I thought “yuck,” but then I’m all “wait a minute!” These are really nice-looking cooler-toned neutrals that I think I could wear. Great look that you made, too. Thank you!
Decent enough quality, but the shades themselves just aren’t moving me. The greenish-gold shade would literally disappear on me, I think. Browbone shade is not bad, I suppose. And then there’s Smoke Break (HATE that name, though!). Now that is a lovely deep chocolate-taupey shade! And I now need a single of that!
This is one of the ones I’ve been really eager to see and I’m glad it scored relatively well. I will probably pick this one up – it’s the sort of “sheen-y” finish neutrals that I love and have a hard time resisting.
Glad one of them finally didn’t suck!
I really like this little trio a lot – the shades are universally popular and would suit most skintones and all three are well co-ordinated. The quality was pretty good, hence the better ratings and this would be perfect for travelling with. This is the best, I think, of all of them.
Well, I just picked this up yesterday and wore it today for the first time. Vanilla is, indeed, powdery – first swipe resulted in light shadow on my lashes – but with a modicum of care, it’s not a problem and I absolutely love this little palette – it is just so practical and easy to wear and the colours are all the sort that always appeal to me. Perfect for work or travel. Love, love, love.
