Sephora Welcome Back Sale | Recommendations in Pairing Form

We’ll call this recommendations in the form of a little from column A and a little from column B.  Sephora’s “Welcome Back” sale is on through August 23rd.  Beauty Insiders can use code WELCOMEBACK for $15 off a $75+ purchase or $20 off a $100+ purchase–and it’s a one-time use code for online purchases (but has unlimited use in stores–please exercise caution and be safe should you shop in-store!).

It’s as Sephora always does–gives a little but not a lot.  Whether you spend $75 or $100, you’re effectively getting 20% off that purchase (so long as you’re exactly at $75 or $100 but the more you’re over the threshold, the less you’re saving in terms of percentage).  So, here are some recommendations that I think pair together well to get to either $75 or $100 thresholds (as close to them as possible but no more than $5 over!).

You can also check out my best of product guides here.

If you took advantage of this sale, I’d love to hear what you bought! Share in the comments. 🙂

Also, when in doubt, peruse Sephora’s makeup (or haircare or skincare) minis… for inspiration!  I’ve also included some products I’d recommend that come in at $25 or under (that are full-size), generally.

Thanks for putting this together.

This sale definitely highlights one of the (many) reasons Sephora is falling out of favor with me. My closest store is in a mall and also doesn’t have approx. half of the products I’m actually interested in purchasing from Sephora right now (online exclusives or my store isn’t stocking that brand/shade). I’ve had about $380 worth of stuff in my cart waiting for payday/a good enough reason to order, but there is zero chance I’m going into a mall right now to shop for non-essential products when they don’t have approx. half of what I want. So with a straight percentage code they could have had approx. $300 of my money. Now, maybe, they’ll get $80. The item I most want is $80, so I’m not sure if I’ll just get that or find something else I want for $20.

I wish they had given the usual 20% off. Was easier to purchase without calculating. Anyway I will not be buying much this time around except for some skincare for my daughter and maybe the Armani new lipsticks. Thank you for your advice on purchasing though.

I bit the bullet as soon as the sale started and got two of the Viseart Theory palettes that I’ve been wanting forever. The Cashmere was almost sold out and apparently now out of stock (so I’m waiting for a shipping code?). The Chroma shipped very quickly! I’m hoping they don’t cancel the Cashmere…

Great list Christine! Made me think creatively about what combo of things I want vs. need (to be honest, I need nothing!) Will likely be passing on the sale but it was fun to think about 🙂

I think a nice way to think about it is maybe one thing you need, one thing you want (presuming you can afford to spend!). The thresholds are high, IMO – one of those sales that makes sense if $75/$100 are normal order values for someone but I don’t know that they’re something I’d stretch to, you know?

Sue Avatar

Absolutely! I am very, very lucky that I’ve been able to WFH amidst all this and my finances are stable. Every single day I’m grateful for this privilege/advantage/opportunity — whatever you want to call it.
But I agree the Sephora sale thresholds are high, even for prepandemic wallets, and especially for the volatile financial times we’re in now!

I typed in an S in the search box, and it came up Sydney Grace. What does that tell us? Sephora isn’t even on my top four quick tiles anymore. This Rouge seems done. Under $300 this year so far. Half way through August. The affair is over…but I still might get some concealers…they were in the basket when I signed n!

After maybe 20 different shopping cart combinations, I finaly nailed this down to three items that totaled exactly $75.m: a new beauty blender; the new Fenty Snap Shadows palette (green); and the Shiseido eye and lip remover (great suggestion, Christine!). confession: my carr changed so much because I wanted it exactly at the 75 price point and the Fenty palette was going to be in it, no matter what. It made for some interesting math to play around with!
