Sephora Fiji (25) Colorful Blush
Sephora Fiji (25) Colorful Blush ($15.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a softened, medium-dark brown with warm undertones and a fine, gold shimmer-sheen. Marc Jacobs Beauty Close-Up #3 (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Too Faced Jolie (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Delicates (LE, $35.50) is darker (95% similar). Too Faced Spice (LE, ) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). MAC Satin Shimmer (LE, $34.00) is cooler (90% similar). Tarte Park Ave Princess (PiP, ) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Sephora Los Cabos (24) (P, $14.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). ColourPop Paradise Cove (P, $8.00) is darker (90% similar). Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Contour (LE, ) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Hourglass Luminous Bronze Light (P, $52.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Tarte Social Butterfly (LE, $29.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
The Colorful Blush formula is supposed to be long-wearing, buildable, and have a lightweight texture. My experience with the formula has shown that they’re soft, lightly powdery at times (some are worse than others) with semi-sheer to semi-opaque color coverage that blends fairly well and lasts seven to eight hours. There is some variance between shades, but there are some gems in the range. As described, Fiji is a buildable shade from semi-sheer to mostly opaque coverage (two to three layers, and it doesn’t look like you’ve over-applied powder) with a soft, very lightly powdery consistency, that is blendable on the skin without emphasizing pores. The shimmer is noticeable but flatters the skin by giving it a lovely sheen. If you like your contour to have some shimmer, it could certainly be used as a contour on some skin tones, but it seems more like a traditional bronzing shade. On me, it wore well for eight hours before fading slightly.

Fiji is listed as a contour, but looks like it could also double as blush. Since I’m cool-toned, this won’t work for me, but I’m loving Tranquil (the dupe for Chanel Notorius). And good thing mine wasn’t powdery at all. I even got a backup in case they ever discontinued it
Glad Tranquil is working for you!
Katherine, I’m so happy to read this. I got Tranquil also just the other day but haven’t even opened it yet (summer’s not a big contouring season for me but also I was a bit worried about it not being very good so I’m really pleased to hear that yours terrific AND “backup worthy”).
I was SO thrilled with Tranquil! Every contour I’ve tried looked too warm or orangey, but Tranquil looks so natural , since the grey color mimics natural shadows. But I think there’s a QC issue, with some batches being powdery and others being fine. But hey, at $15, if it doesn’t work out, just return or exchange for another one. Xamyx says hers is not powdery, but it’s on the firmer side, but work-able. I really hope Tranquil works for you. If they ever discontinue it, I’m going to stockpile it !!
I’m glad I read this because I love cool toned contour shades. My go to is Kevyn Aucoin’s medium which is easy to burn through. I don’t contour a lot in the summer for some reason and seem to be able to use my warmer shades too which has helped so far. I saw the bad ratng on Tranquil and dismissed it. But,if there is some odd batch issue, I’m going to check it out. It may be good to help stretch my KA.
I plan on picking up a few more, LOL! I’m a contour “aficionado”, and while it hasn’t risen to “HG Status”, it’s the best I’ve found so far. I’m still bitter about missing out on Notorious, though, but I just couldn’t bring myself to spend $100+ on eBay on something that may not have worked out…
With Tranquil, I did have to try a few different brushes, but I find that to be the case with most products.
It’s really a straight dupe? It looked warmer to me.
I only have Tranquil, not Chanel Notorious, so I can’t compare them both in person. But Temptalia’s review rated them as 90% similar, and she said Notorious was darker and more shimmery. Since there are so few cool-toned contours out there, 90% match might be as close as you can get to Notorious, but using an eye shadow might get you closer. You can compare the swatches side-by-side online. I actually think Notorious might be too dark for me, might create too dramatic of a shadow.
I’m glad to to hear Tranquil is working for so many. I’ve been contemplating giving it a try, since the price is right. I live 30 mins. (if traffic is light) from the closest Sephora, so I was dreading having to return a powdery mess if I bought it. It sounds like I might have a fighting chance, though.
This has been a fave of mine all summer! I can’t wait to get a few of the luminators from this line as well.
Nice!!
This is a perfect color for me to lightly bronze, especially in the fall and winter where I’ve had no sun. Really nice! Thanks for the review!
My pleasure, Dani!
It’s something when a relatively inexpensive product like this gets an A- rating but it’s much pricier Marc Jacobs LE dupe that’s twice the price gets a C+ and MAC’s dupe – $20 more – gets an F!!!! Christine, with bronzing type products like this, do you just apply it to your cheeks in the photos or do you also dust your forehead or temples, or does it vary?
I tend to just wear bronze-like shades more in blush placement personally, but if you wanted to wear it more like a bronzer, the traditional way would include around the temples/along the forehead!
I love how subtle it is!
Yay!
Oh, I love the glowi-ness of this! And I definitely agree with you about this one being great as an actual bronzer as opposed to trying to use it as a contour. Even though it’s lighter than Los Cabos, I could see this one somehow working on me as just a nice soft glowy bronze cheek color.
I bet it would be a beaut on you!
Not my shade, but I think it’s beautiful.
It has a great finish!
This is looks like a nice Fall/winter bronzer! Another hit form the Sephora collection. thanks for reviewing!
My pleasure, Nicole! xo
This is really pretty, and I may look into it as a bronzer, although I’m not really in the need of one.
It is! I liked how it didn’t get too orange or red.
*facepalm* Stop. Making. Contour shades. Warm.
On the other hand, it looks absolutely lovely as a blush.
Yeah, I’m not really sure if Sephora meant to label all of them as contour, LOL!
