Sephora Blonde Ambition & Roof Top Party Contour Eye Pencils Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Sephora Blonde Ambition Contour Eye Pencil
Sephora Blonde Ambition Contour Eye Pencil ($9.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as “beige.” It’s a pale, gilded beige with a pearly sheen. It had good color payoff in a single pass, but it’s only semi-opaque and buildable to about semi-opaque, even though I tried to layer it. It’s sufficient for brightening the eye, and it can be evened out with a brush to blend the eyeliner together. NARS Rue Bonaparte is matte. MAC Gilded White is very similar, perhaps a touch whiter. Other champagne eyeliners are warmer, more beige. See comparison swatches.
Roof Top Party Contour Eye Pencil ($9.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as “gunmetal.” It’s an olive brown; a murky, dirty brown with a hint of green and subtle shimmer. The color payoff was good in one stroke, and it was buildable to mostly opaque color with two or so passes of the eyeliner. Urban Decay Stash is richer–darker and more intense. MAC Forever Green is greener. bareMinerals 10AM is darker, more intense. See comparison swatches.
I liked both of these, but they weren’t as intense on the eye as they looked in the pencil–it was almost as if the consistency was a little too waxy so the color didn’t build up to full intensity as a result. Though, the waxiness enabled both shades to glide across the skin easily–no skipping or dragging. Both shades wore well for eight hours on me with very minimal thinning but no smudging or migrating.

I looked at Roof Top Party when I was trying to find a dupe for UD’s Stash and it just didn’t come close enough for me. I think I’m gonna have to bite the bullet and just get the UD liner lol.
Stash is well worth it! 🙂
I think Snakeskin Dress might be a dupe for Stash.
Sephora’s Jumbo Waterproof pencil in Kaki is a definite dupe as far as colour goes, but it’s tricky to use the jumbo when you just want to line.
PS. Christine, thank you SO much for reviewing this pencil line, I’m a total eyeliner junkie and I hope you’ll do more colours when your schedule allows!
maybe try using the pencil on an angle or push liner brush when you want a finer line? this works for me with a lot of my “fatty” pencils 🙂 hth!
I have two of these eyeliners (in darker colors) that I like quite a bit- the only complaint I have with the range is that they need more matte/satin shades. I think they’re pretty nice for being under $10 and having so many colors, though! I love the looks of Blonde Ambition.
I haven’t seen them in person, so I’ve only seen the online swatches so it seemed like they had some mattes there (but they don’t actually seem to indicate what’s what online) – good to know that there is a hole in their line!
The French and Italian sites list the finishes but they don’t have colour descriptions. Go figure…

Mat = matte
Pailleté = glitter
Nacré = shimmer
Nice! That’s very handy! Thanks, Vee!
I have Purple Stilettos (matte) and Indulge Yourself (glitter). LOVE them both!
You can actually zoom in and look at the end color to tell if it’s matte. Looks like Black Lace, 5th Avenue, Banana Split, Tiramisu, Flirting Game, Go for a Ride (maybe), Suede Shoes & Purple Stilettos are all matte.
Thanks for the tip, Kelly!
I’ve been loving these Sephora pencils. I have 4 of them and plan to get more (Roof Top Party look so nice; I had planned on Snakeskin Dress but might go for Roof Top Party instead). I am hoping there is something in the collection that looks like that amazing Bare Minerals pencil (was it 5 AM?) that you showed a while ago and which was available for about 5 minutes! Actually, with BM releasing some new stuff, I’m hoping they will re-release THAT pencil. Anyway, enough of the rambling….suffice to say I love these pencils!
Christine, thanks for these great photos. How does Blonde Ambition compare to Mac Get No Kick?
It is lighter!
i was looking at Blonde Ambition a few weeks ago. I’m still on the fence with it. But Roof Top Party was a nice surprise!
Hmm..been looking for a good pale neutral beige pencil, but I would rather have matte finish.. Maybe the NARS I see in your comparison swatches, but I’m leery of their pencils.
thanks for reviewing these Christine, i really want to try some.
