Sephora Black Lace and Good Mood Contour Eye Pencils Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Sephora Black Lace Contour Eye Pencil ($9.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as “black.” Just as described, it’s a dark black with neutral undertones and a matte finish. It had fairly good color in a single stroke, and it is buildable to opaque color. There are so, so many black eyeliners on the market. This is one of the darker ones, so it’s an intense version of black, more like the likes of these, but they really don’t differ much between each other. (My guess is that Clubbing Stilettos is the softer black in the range.)

Good Mood Contour Eye Pencil ($9.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as “jade.” It’s a darkened green-teal with a pearly sheen. It had so-so color payoff in a single stroke but was buildable to mostly opaque color on the lash line. Make Up For Ever #4K is less shimmery. MAC Dark Envy is a gel version. Make Up For Ever #20L is less shimmery. See comparison swatches.

I just bought these and tried them out yesterday, alongside the Ariel palette. They both have a really smooth, creamy consistency that glides on well and deposits a good amount of product in a single pass.  I tried Black Lace on the lower lash line as well as the water line, and it didn’t last for more than a couple of hours on the water line, but it did wear well for just over eight hours.  I started to see some shrinkage, so it looked like an even line of color, just thinner than before, after nine hours of wear.  Good Mood wore similarly for a solid eight and a half hours of good wear and then diminished wear from that point forward.

So far, I have 4 of these pencils – Surfer Babe, Galaxy Girl, Driving in Malaysia and Tango Night – and I totally LOVE THEM! I nearly bought Good Mood or Fairy Tale last week but when I saw Driving in Malaysia, I just had to have that one! Really, these pencils are amazing and for $11 CDN, they are amazing value. I was going to get that LE MUFE pencil you showed here a couple of weeks ago, Christine, but opted for Sephora instead since I could get 2 pencils for the price of the one MUFE one! I’ll be adding a few more of these to my collection.

These look great–Good Mood is so pretty! I really need a nice jade liner…the only jade-ish liner I have is a really old NYX one that does not stay put on my eyes at all. I like that these are really affordable too. I may test these out one day, though I am still a bit hesitant to venture from MUFE’s Aqua Eyes. I have been using them so long and I KNOW they stay put on my oily lids. Some liners that others swear are super long-wearing for them don’t even stay put for an hour on my lids sometimes :/

These looks really good. I’ve been hearing a lot about these liners lately. I used to use their waterproof, retractable liners, but eventually I got more into the Urban Decay ones.

Try the ‘Evercolor Starlight Waterproof’ liner in ‘Midnight’ from Mally Beauty. Amazing on waterline!!!! 🙂 And won’t break the bank 🙂

Try Prestige Total Intensity eyeliner. Their black one is my HG black eyeliner and its a dupe for UD’s Perversion and its less than 7 bucks.

I bought Tango Night and Diving in Malaysia when Sephora was having the 15% off sale and I love them! Diving in Malaysia is a dupe for MAC’s Buried Treasure. When they finally came to the stores I bought three more and they all last all day and the color pay-off is fantastic! I told one of the ladies I work with about them and she loves them too!

I have the Tiramisu, a matte chocolate brown, and it goes on and stays on. It really does not budge at all. I don’t think it would be useful if you wanted to smudge it out because once it’s on it’s really not going to move at all. It also lasts well for me on my tightline.

I have the yellow one, Banana Split I think? It’s pretty good – stays put and won’t budge at all. I was surprised they included this colour in the lineup since it’s not a typical liner colour but I’m glad they did. A lot of the other colours look like they could be dupes for the new urban decay 24/7 lineup. On that note, Christine, do you think you will do a review of more of these?

Oh Christine, you just killed me. Pencil liner is a weakness (can’t use many liquid liners) and if Black Lace can replace my Perversion mini, the one from the Electric liner set, I’ll bite. I ALWAYS set my liner with matte black eyeshadow on my waterline, so fading has never been a particular issue. Two of these is the same price as one 24/7 Liner. I just want to replace Perversion before I run out ♡ Plus I love the name: Black Lace. 😉 I’ll have to check these out now! Yaaaay!! Also, thanks to your review of Maybelline’s Born With It, I found a great pink that actually works for me. It’s an MLBEB (My Lips but EVEN BETTER ~ )

OMG I just commented on the giveaway dreaming of a green eye look with colors from the Ariel palette then I see this … this is absolutely gorgeous!!!
I have enough good black eye pencils but I must get that green!

Did you ever try the Sephora Flashy Liners? If so, how do these compare? The Flashy Liners were my HG but they were recently discontinued and I can only assume these are supposed to be their replacement as they have similar claims…

Also, if anyone is interested, Sephora’s French webpage for these liners (http://www.sephora.fr/Maquillage/Yeux/Crayons/Crayon-contour-yeux-12H-Waterproof/P1228002) has finish descriptions for each shade. Mat is matte/creamy, Pailleté is glittery and Nacré is shimmery.
