I started editing my list, so far I really want the Armani Luminous Silk Compact, a couple of Armani Ecstacy Lacquers, two Burberry eyeshadow creams, Devacurl Winter Survival kit, Ciate lipstick, one of the new Kat Von D nail polishes, maybe the Burberry Nude Rose Lip Velvet…

Neonails Avatar

Is it just me, or did they shorten the range length of the discount? I remember VIB Rouges getting like a week (5 days or so), then VIBs about 4, & IBs getting 3. Holding this discount for 3 days is a really short window to me.

In any case, I will definitely be picking up the new Makeup Forever palette & my perfume set (Elizabeth & James Black). Not sure if anything else will catch my eye in the meantime…

Christine Avatar

I don’t have any info from Sephora yet, but my guess is that it is still set-up like past years’ sales — so this is the early access for VIB Rouge members, but it’ll probably continue on until a later date. I don’t have that confirmed, though, and it is odd that they use “first access” but also in the fine print, the dates are still that very short window. We’ll have to wait and see!

Neonails Avatar

That’s a good point! Hopefully you’re right & it’ll continue through the rest of the following week. Maybe they just used the wrong phrasing in the text!

Either way, I’m excited to hear more. I’ve been holding off on all my big Sephora purchases until this discount finally hits. 😉

Neonails Avatar

WOW. I have to say I’m surprised! I really wonder why they thought it was a good idea to shorten the sale like that–they only ever offer this twice a year, with almost no coupons in between. You’d think they could keep their one sale to a full week or so.

I’m still a VIB, & now I’m worried that they’ll only give us one day, if anything!

Roxana Avatar

I’ve been VIB rouge for a year or so – maybe two? – and it’s honestly not worth it. the only “perk” I feel like we get is free flash shipping, but I already live close to a fulfillment center, so I always got my orders within a couple of days anyway. I’ve seen other rouge members talk about getting free things in the mail, but that’s never happened for me, and seeing this discount lessened to only three days is very disappointing. last fall I remember us being able to bring a friend and the discount lasting a week. but now the event is canceled and we only get three days to shop? what gives, sephora?

Katie L Avatar

Rouge is totally not worth it- platinum at Ulta actually pays off, but I don’t care for Ulta stores or the products they carry as much as I like Sephora. 🙁

Sabrina S Avatar

I already bought most of what I needed during the f&f sale, but I do plan to get some shampoo and conditioner, and some skincare products for my boyfriend with my vibr 20% off!

Nicole Avatar

Well, my wish list was lng and I have added a couple of items with the posts from today! I still have to narrow it down to meet my budget as the sale snuck up on me. I totally forgot about it and bought a bunch of skincare last weekend which could have waited a couple of weeks, lol. I would like to invest in a good hair dryer and maybe a flat iron if I can find one. But, I may get those at Nordstrom because they are having a sale also starting the 5th or 6th and I like their return policy a bit better. Sephora list- Tom For Nor por Femme fragrance, a clarisonic mia for my daughter, some skincare back ups, Bobbi Brown Luxe lipsticks, MJB lipsticks, eye cream-( need to find one-been using samples!), Givenchy Le Rouge in Corial(303)(not sure if I jotted that right. Just added it) , BB shimmer brick in Pink Quartz., Some eye and face sheet masks. Viseart Cool matte and or Paris Nude, Geurlain Fleur de Givre maxi Velvet, maybe a full sized of Wolvesmouth by KVD,and The new Guerlain Maxi mascara, and Dior lash primer, and there is a Fresh set I have been eyeing.I would like to try the Dior air nude and new MJB foundations. So, I need to get there early in the week and snag some samples to see if those are something I would like to buy. This is a wish list. I certainly won’t be able to get all of that. Just what I want. It’s a perpetual list. 😉
Hey, Christine have you heard anything about a in-store shopping preview the night before the event starts?

Nancy T Avatar

Hey Nicole, you just gave me an alternate if when I try on Guerlain Air Kiss I wind up not falling all over it! But I probably will, LoL! A Bobbi Brown Luxe Lipstick. In what shade, I’m not sure about yet. This year I am so unprepared, and had already gone and gotten a bunch of things that, gad I remembered the sale, I would’ve waited!

Nicole Avatar

I did the same thing Nancy! Oh well. The Bobbi Brown Luxe was sold out before the sale in the shade I wanted, Your Majesty. So, then I tried to get that YSL that got reviewed yesterday. It literally sold out from my basket. UGH! Oh well, the Guerlain Air Kiss is nice. So are the Bobbi Brown luxe. Both are permanent though. Which is good! Air kiss is more sheer than the BB formula. So, I would try them on if you can. 🙂

Nancy T Avatar

Hi Nicole, I did try Air Kiss on last week, sooo beautiful! As I walked ALL around the mall searching (in futility!) for OCC Technopagan for over 2 hours, Air Kiss stayed on perfectly, my lips never felt dry or grainy from the shimmer. After never finding Technopagan, I popped into MAC figuring I would try on an ombre using Heroine and Matte Royal, my friendly SA says to me, “What you have on your lips now looks really good on you! You really want to take it off to try these on?” That sold me on Air Kiss! But I DID try on that other combo anyway, LoL!

Sarah Avatar

The comments on the Sephora forum are spot on…(Especially about the Canadian site. If you look at our sale section, our rewards, and our samples, it’s pretty pitiful compared to the US options.)

I think what frustrates me as a Canadian shopper is that I would wager a lot of us become Rouge simply because we don’t have a ton of alternatives. SDM/Murale is getting better but still doesn’t have all the brands I want. The Bay is an option, and UD just opened a Canadian store. But we don’t have Nordstrom (yet?) and (more crucially) we don’t have Ulta. So I know that, for me, I’m Rouge simply because I can’t get the stuff elsewhere, not because I want to be.

I wonder how many other people are in that boat?

At any rate, thanks for the info, Christine!

Tracey E. Avatar

Hi Sarah, there are 2 Nordstrom stores in Canada: in Calgary and Vancouver. Vancouver’s store is considered one of 8 International stores, so has a considerably expanded offering. Not sure what is offered online or if they match promotions like Nordstroms.com. I noticed that Holt Renfrew finally launched a website for online purchasing.

Sarah Avatar

Yeah, there’s one opening in Toronto soonish, in the Eaton Centre (I’m in Ontario). I’ve never been to one so I hope it’ll live up to all the hype! I’ll have to check out the Holt website – thank you for the tip.

Atrocious shipping packaging notwithstanding, it’d be nice if Ulta opened up in Canada, you know?

Tracey E. Avatar

I’m not as famiiar with Ulta’s range, having only visited one once. I’ve been in Nordstroms before but ususally darting in for the makeup counters. I recently shoppec at one and enjoyed shopping for clothing. The beauty counters were no different than Holts. You have a lovely Holts in downtown TO. I visited it for the Charlotte Tilbury counter but sadly didn’t have time to explore. Beautylish.com offers fast global shipping at a reasonable price. I look to them for online purchases now and then.

Catherine Avatar

Holt now offers online shopping for their beauty department! And Charlotte Tilbury has free shipping to Canada if you’re interested in that 🙂

Sally Avatar

SDM is actually pretty great. They used to have promos Mon, Wed, Fri and the weekend up until a month ago (now it’s only the weekends and I don’t know why they’ve changed this). When you redeem the points for merch, it works out to 25-30% off including prestige cosmetics if you’re smart about collecting and redeeming points! And thats any time you want- not just special sale times– every weekend! I’m in the Toronto area, so that means i can get 25-30% chanel, urban decay, dior, ysl, origins, shiseido, guerlain, clinique, d&g… etc!!!

Sarah Avatar

I’m starting to figure out what SDM has, but I live in the Hamilton area, so there are no Shoppers around here that carry the UD stuff (specifically)…I wish they’d expand their makeup areas with the brands that overlap with Sephora!

Sally Avatar

There’s one in Bayview Village (north york). That one has Chanel, UD, YSL and I think dior. That’s the one I go to because it has good selection (though the rest of the store stinks–very limited selection of regular pharmacy stuff). I believe college park also has UD- thats at yonge and college downtown toronto, and I think only one or two others in the GTA. If you call you can find out. The website used to have a good search tool, but ever since they offered online shopping for beauty boutique they don’t let you search the brands they don’t carry online (including UD). Here’s the search tool anyway https://www.beautyboutique.ca/store-finder . Hamilton is a big centre. As they expand, i’m sure SDM will start competing with sephora, carrying more brands in more locations.

kelly Avatar

late to this but yup Yonge/College has UD, along with Dior, Guerlain, Lancome, and I think Estee Lauder. The one at the Eaton Centre has Chanel, L’Occitane, Anna Sui…both have Benefit, Smashbox, Clinique, Clarins

Grace Avatar

I share your sentiments! I’m mostly PEEVED that opening a Sephora warehouse in Canada led to having only half the brands or availability compared to the US Sephora. To find that Items cannot be shipped to/not available in store/out of stock is a bit aggravating. I shop less at Sephora now. Hopefully Nordstrom doesn’t follow suit; we do need more competition up here as it doesn’t really allow us to choose where to shop.

Sarah Avatar

I hear you. I was lucky enough that nothing I wanted was part of the stuff that is no longer available…what gets me is the pitiful sale selection for us and the underwhelming free samples. 🙁

Kelly Avatar

Sephora is definitely the place I go when I can’t get what I need anywhere else. I purchase all of my beauty items at SDM on 20x the points and usually earn $200 – $400 back in points that I can redeem for anything in store. I will only purchase from Sephora if it’s a brand or an item they don’t carry at SDM.

Pteetsa Avatar

Oh dear – all of this good stuff happening all at once – Sephora 20% off, Balmain x H&M, Steven Klein x NARS, and I just used my Ulta 20% off coupon!

On my Sephora wishlist: Kevyn Aucoin Contour Book, Volume II (hopefully it comes back in stock soon!)
Hakuho-do x SEPHORA Brush Set
One or two Burberry eyeshadows
Stock up on my Burberry Brit and Chanel Chance perfumes

Angela Avatar

I am going to get the Smashbox art love palette. It gets a lot of mixed reviews but I feel it is a great value. I can’t wait to hear Temptalia’s review. I really like my Smashbox Masterclass 3 palette. I am also going to get the Vice 3 and the Self made palette. Can you tell I am a palette lady? 🙂 Happy Halloween everyone!

KJH Avatar

I’m just glad that I got the snail mail before, instead of 2 weeks AFTER the dates. That’s their usual way… IDR if I cancelled emails, doubt it, I get Ulta, but no Sephora. I s.t. think ‘inquiring’ is not a good idea. I get the feeling I got red-flagged? WGAS, as long as I keep throwing them my shekels? They were curt and uninformative about restocking Give Me More Lip. Tell me they did not know that they were going to!!! Total BS. ( and sure I ordered it immediately… no waiting for discount…) You complain about Ulta, at least a legitimate one, eg changing prices online… a programming thing, they send you a gift card! My list has the Nars brown red Audacious that I don’t have yet, maybe a blush or 2, maybe UD Rapture blush, some of the bite 2 enders. I love small sizes, since I have far too much of everything, & I hate to waste or chuck it. Prob will have some other idea..all the KVD I like is sold out…it’s hard not to major overspend on this one. Maybe Ciate l/s, maybe Blinc colored masc,’cuz they died. Gotta cruise the website yet again. Did use the Ulta one today, too. She who dies with the biggest stash wins!

Mariella Avatar

Not much, really. I looked at a few things I thought I would want, only to realize I don’t really want them (thought I might still cave and get that Nars Up Too Late shadow or whatever it’s called). In all honesty, I think the only things I really want are the Sephora #56 brush (maybe), the Kat Von D double ended eyeshadow brush (also a maybe) and perhaps another Bite Beauty lipstick or two and maybe another UD Revolution one. I hope I can pick up the special offer from the site. I never get snail mailings from Sephora and I’ve had a real problem getting my VIB Rouge discount emails (though they seem to have no problem emailing ads and promo stuff to me). I’d even emailed them about the issue and got back a reply that indicated they’d totally misunderstood my question/problem.

Nancy T Avatar

I’m not quite a Rouge yet, but they keep telling I’m getting close. Probably next November, sooo I will be waiting and watching to see what they offer plain ol’ VIB members. Still a very sweet deal on my Air Kiss lipstick!

Julie Avatar

Rouge Isn’t all that great. Some things sold out so fast, I still missed out! (even with early access ). Birthday gift compared to VIB was a small eyeliner pencil. The reward points did not change, same kits of 4 luxe samples after you buy 500 dollars of products to earn those points. Ulta is much more generous IMO. Platinum is easier to reach, points equal cash off purchase. I also took advantage of variety bags free with $75 purchase. Both bags were filled with so many great things, way more than any Sephora 500 point reward. They don’t have MUFE, but I’m hoping someday. What do you think Christine? Which store, including any other, do you feel gives you the most for your money? Readers?

Christine Avatar

I think ULTA’s program is probably the most lucrative? since it is cash back and you don’t need a credit card to get your points, plus you can redeem $3 at a time for all they care. I do a lot of online shopping, though, and I will order at almost any other retailer before ULTA. As far as rewards go, I prefer Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus myself, but you’ll need their respective credit card.

Meghan Avatar

I already have a basket full of items! A few repurchases like the Clinique Take Off the Day balm, FAB Radiance pads, Sunday Riley Juno oil, and Omorovicza Queen of Hungary mist. I also have my eye on the Bite Beauty Mauvember shade, all the Mix ‘n Mingle duos (which are great for travel), and the Opal lipstick. I’m also hoping to get the Too Faced ‘Melted French Kiss’ set of 4 lippies and the Elizabeth& James Nirvana White perfume for my mom (also a repurchase!). I’m mostly trying to get some repurchases and a few things I know I’ll love! 😀

Bean Avatar

I reached VIB Rouge for the first time this year, and I’ve been so excited for this. This is the first year I’ve had the spending power to buy mid-range to high-end makeup, and I went a little nuts once the holiday sets started coming out near the end of September. I went from having one NYX palette to five new palettes! Since hearing about the VIB event, I’ve reigned in my giddy spending, and have been revising my wishlist everyday. So far I’m considering the Viseart Paris Nudes (I just got the Sultry Muse, so I’m unsure), the Lancome French Noel palette, the Naked 3, Kat Von D’s Monarch palette, Tarte’s Poppy Picnic Eye & Cheek palette (I don’t have any mattes, I’m addicted to warm metallics & shimmer), Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made palette, and Sephora’s Wishes Come True Eye & Face palette. Does anyone have any recommendations for a new makeup enthusiast? I am light-skinned with very golden undertones, normal/dry skins, grey/blue eyes, and pink hair (naturally golden blonde), if that’s relevant. Also, is there anything a first time VIB/VIB Rouge costumer should know going into this event? (If this is the wrong place to ask this, I’m sorry!) Happy holidays everyone!

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

You have different undertones than me, but I think the new BECCA shimmering Skin Perfector palette would be stunning with your skin tone. Bobbi Brown makes some good neutral shimmery eye palettes that are superb for warm skin tones. (Sadly, I go for cools and grabbed 2 of her LE cool palettes when they were released. I can tell you the quality of her shadows is excellent with good pigmentation and little fallout.) There’s really a ton of great palettes and singles out there for warm skin tones.

Lauren Avatar

I have and love KVD Monarch palette! I really like the Tarte Tartelette palette as I have been very into mattes lately (i have KVD shade and light eye palette but always reach for the Tarte one). I have the first 3 UD Naked palettes and love them too though I dont reach for them as often. The Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes are nice (the shade peanut butter in the semi-sweet palette is amazing!)

Linda Avatar

Thanks Christine for giving us the heads up regarding the sale. I never received any info about this and I am VIB rouge (through December of 2016!). I haven’t been on good terms with Sephora since the epic rewards epic fail and this isn’t helping any!

SB Avatar

Completely the same! My friend received her card in the mail and I have yet to receive any kind of email. I never even received the email that the Epic Rewards had begun and only found out I missed it all a week later. I don’t know why Sephora sucks so much lately!

Fil Avatar

The french sephora has 20% off multple times online only…… like for festival, autum and more (that i dont understand) I only order from .com from brands that are not availble like kat von d. soooo i dont feel like missing out here + the euro is crappy sticking to french sephora and order vice 4 en too faced melted lipset 🙂

Fran Avatar

I may use my 20% off coupon mostly to stock up on things that I regularly run out of this year, because I just couldn’t wait on the MUFE-15 palette and I’m not super-excited about most of the others (I really like to treat myself to a special eyeshadow palette at this time of year… guess I already got it, lol!)

Since I already stocked up on Living Proof products for my hair and IT Cosmetics CC Cream at ULTA, I’m looking at Hourglass (the No. 28 primer serum for winter, Veil Mineral Primer for the rest of the year (I’m down to scraping out tiny sample jars at the moment), and the Dim Light powder; Anastasia tinted brow gel and Lash Genius (which is, annoyingly, out of stock); some skin care — First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser and Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer, Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm, Sephora Collection Triple Action Cleansing Water, Bobbi Brown Long Wear Makeup Remover (I ordered my retinol treatments, AHA and BHA treatments, and hyaluronic acid booster during Paula’s Choice 25% off Halloween sale). That already adds up to a lot of $$$, but, I won’t have to re-stock for months or a year.

There are some MUFE brushes that I’ve been coveting, will probably get a couple of those. I love the ease of cleaning (synthetic) eye brushes immediately with alcohol, and really love my MUFE brushes, especially with their shadows, which I also love, love, love.

Things I’m considering for a special treat:
eyeshadows — Mark Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 20, but there’s only really one shade in it that I’m head-over-heels for and don’t have a dupe for;
Viseart Paris Nudes, but five of the shades look warmer than what I usually like — but I do have the Bridal Satin, Nude Matte and Cool Matte palettes and it would all work well together — for that matter, since the Marc Jacobs palette is light on mid-tones, these two might work well together;
NARS Steven Klein collaboration eyeshadow single in Stud, maybe Never Too Late also since they would work well together;
Laura Mercier Matte-to-Metal Carviar stick eye set — but it doesn’t contain the shades I’m most interested in;
Ciate London Olivia Palermo The Smoldering palette, which I plan to swatch when I’m in Philly on Wednesday;
Giorgo Armani Eyes to Kill Trio, as I’m curious to try the liquid eyeshadow formula, and all three shades are ones I’ve been wanting to try. This one probably makes the most sense for me. But I want some pretty new powders.
I don’t know why, it just feels like a really special treat to me to get a new eyeshadow palette — but I love my MUFE shadows so much that very little else can compete with them at the moment.

So I’m thinking about the “try it out” value assortments instead, especially
Sephora Favorites Lash Stash — there are three mascaras in there that I want to try, and three more that I at least know I don’t mind using. This one is pretty definite, at the moment I just use whatever mascara sample I happen to have on hand.
Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip — the value looks good here as long as the color and formula agrees with you — and it’s good for me to push the boundaries a bit on what lip colors I think look good on me — it’s hard to get me away from blue pinks, blue reds, purples and cool plums — and hard to get me to wear anything that’s very light or dark. So, this could be fun.
Buxom Two of A Kind Misstress & Hooligan to try.
Bite Beauty Mix & Mingle Pomegranate/Palamino to try.
(Two to four shades each in the Bite, Marc Jacobs, and NARS assortments that I swatched at Sephora last week didn’t really agree with my complexion.)
Fresh Sugar Lip Delight — I like the formula (although I mostly wear it in summer), and would get to try four new shades, and I know I like the other two (Tulip and untinted), and I have managed the tiny tubes successfully before. But, I wouldn’t really use it much until summer, unless I layer them over lipstick for a bit of moisture and shine. Not a super amount of fun right away.
And, I’ve been using your list of recommended lipsticks to make a list of lipsticks to swatch at Sephora when I’m in Philly on Wed.

So, in the end I’ll choose a couple of fun things to add to the re-stocking, which is already going to cost me a bundle. I’m glad I planned ahead for the sales this year — especially with Sephora, ULTA, and Paula’s Choice all running their major coupon/sale at the same time! Last year I had to miss out on some things I wanted and ended up paying full price later for products that I re-purchase.

I do love to obsess a bit before spending my money! Suggestions welcomed!

KJH Avatar

Yeah; I hear you. I got the 3 delivered in one day, bec. I feared missing out on more lip. I try to get that yearly. Me, I only wear light and dark, so I appreciate having small sizes in colors I think look dreadful. And peony looks pretty dreadful: much worse than last year’s fuschia, on me. It’s always a good deal. Personal faves are cognac, scarlet empress. (Have I really liked that for ~18 years? No wonder I needed a new one!) Also the YSL & Ciate. That color is pretty intense, but the formula is nice. One of the Nyx darker ‘mattes’ is a good sub for Homegirl, which really does suck. Nars ought to bring back Times Square, another close-to-dupe for Homegirl. I’m glad when any of the mid ranges are sheer, much easier to try for me. this year had more than the average misses for me. But, it’s still my favorite purchase of the year.

Kate Avatar

A little birdy told me that Sephora will no longer be giving the 20% off to regular level BI’s (in the spring AND the fall) and that they will only be getting the “$20 off purchase of $50” gift cards that they give closer to Christmas. I’m not sure if that is going into effect for THIS event, or until next year. Just fyi.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

I just bought a bunch of Laura Geller stuff (I tried and loved it in-store), perfume, and a few other things using my Ulta 20%. Since I bought both a liquid and powder foundation (Geller), I nixed the Armani matte one from my Sephora list (wasn’t sure about it since I’m SPF sensitive). At the moment, I have several items in my shopping cart for the Sephora sale: Kate Somerville Hydrating Acne Gel , Clinique Black Honey set (I’ve wanted to try the shade and it’s a good price point), and a few more NARS x Steven Klein things. I’ve been looking at some of the Burberry items and if the Bobbi Brown lipstick I’ve wanted comes back in stock I’ll get that as well. By next Friday when Rouge access starts I’ll probably have added some more items. I’m trying to limit myself to “special” items and skincare since I have waaayyyy too many lipsticks and eyeshadows right now.

KJH Avatar

Hey, maybe it’s the CHEMICAL sunscreen. It is for me. IDK if it is even worth it to figure out which one. Maybe you need to get some invisible zinc type moisture, and a no SPF foundation. I add color drops to Paula’s Choice TM and threw out everything with chem sunscreen. It was suntan lotion that I had the problem with, and it was serious.

Emilie Avatar

This is my first year as VIB, yay! I’m going to be getting a few basic items as backups, but I’m most excited to try the Nars Chantilly concealer because every concealer I’ve tried up to this point has been too dark for my fair skin. I’m also excited to get the Urban Decay Delirious eyeliner set because I really don’t have any good pencil liners, Benefit Blush in Rockateur (wanted this for ages!), Urban Decay lipstick in Temper, Kat Von D lipstick in Chula, and Urban Decay Moondust shadow in Solstice. I wish I could get more honestly, a lot of items on there I wouldn’t spring for at full price.

Megan Avatar

I would be curious to hear your thoughts about Chantilly if you get it. I have had that same concealer problem and I really want to try it also. But I have heard the formula can be drying/heavy?

Vi Avatar

Oh dear…I’ve been more eyeing skincare than I have been eyeing makeup but so far on the list and oh so constantly revising:

(1) Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation in light beige. I tried samples, really love how less oily/shiny I am at the end of the day. Really impressed. On that same note, I like how the MUFE Ultra HD looks on me but that does make me a lot shinier and down-time…eh some days.

(2) Dr. Jart+ Premium Firming Sleeping Mask – I looked at the water one first before I saw this one. I think I will use this as my night-time moisturizer or as an addition to it.

(3) Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Gel-Cream – as night-time moisturizer in addition to the firming sleeping mask? extra moisture when battling acne and dry skin? xD

(4) NARS Pro-Prime™ Pore Refining Primer – Oil-Free: so far, I do like this one from the sample. It hasn’t broke me out but I also don’t know.

(5) Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47: physical sunscreen works better and I do like this one.

(6) Shiseido Facial Cotton – Couldn’t hurt to see how soft this is. This is to be used in junction with the next part.

(7)SK-II Pitera™ Essence Set Red Butterfly Limited Edition – I can’t even begin to describe how many times I have added this brand to and removed it all at once. Settled on this size to try it out (but I want the blue hummingbird but trying to resist all at once good gawd).

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA….oh dear. I’ve been paying more to skincare since I thought I had a system down but having doubts with recent flareups and how long they are camping out on my face. Ah well. Hoping the site won’t crash like last year. That was a mess. :/

Mandy Avatar

Cart ready ! Hope the website won’t go down again! Last year most of my items were sold out by the time i was able to enter the website . Maybe that’s why they are re arranging the dates.

Jess Avatar

I’m Rouge and haven’t received either a mail or email invite… so pissed off. This is the second Rouge event in a row where I haven’t received anything!! I get other Rouge emails but never invites. Do you know if I still get the discount in store, without the invitation to show? I’m hoping so since this is obviously the fault of Sephora… Anyway, thanks for the post and info!

Hi Christine:

Is there a pre-sale event happening this year for VIB Rouge members, like the three-hour, in-store, exclusive event for Rouge members that takes place before the sale starts for VIB Rouge? I received my coupon in the mail, but I did not receive an email yet, which usually included a link to RSVP for the event. Also, I was reading through the comments and noticed that people are saying the sale is only for 3 days. Is this correct, like Rouge members can only use coupon from 6th through 9th, and then they cannot at all, and period begins for other members only.

Thank you,
Meesha

I believe this sale is just for vib and vib rogue; however sometime during the month of December Sephora sends out a coupon for $15 off $50 for beauty insiders and $20 off $50 for VIB.

I am right there with you! I never spend enough to be a VIB/Rouge! That is a heck of a lot of money oer year! & now that I own a home I am very very selective about my splurges. 😉 That being said if Sephora/Ulta would send out coupons to BI now & again I would probably spend a little more…c’est la vie.

I spoke with a customer service representative today; VIB Rouge sale starts tomorrow at 11:40 AM ET (11/5-11/10). I’m ready to start shopping!

I’ve got a few items that I’m eyeing, but I’m trying to keep my list reasonable. Firstly, I just HAVE to get the Bite Beauty Rewind set this year because I love the colors and a couple of them fill holes in my lip color collection. I’m also in need of some new concealer, so I’ll pick that up (either Benefit’s Boi-ing or NARS’s Radiant Concealer… not sure which yet). Then possibly the Formula X Happy Hour 4 piece nail polish set. And finally, I’m going to pick up their Liquid Luxuries perfume sampler because I’ve been meaning to invest in a quality perfume.

I wonder why they shortened the sale length?!. I’m sure everyone does. Oh well, I just tend to order for the entire sale. So,this is probably better for my wallet. My wish list is forever long. So, I still need to edit for my budget! I have most of the LE that Sephora has already that I want. I mostly am getting skincare, hoping for fragrance, hair tools, a few gifts maybe.

My cart is full but no color cosmetics. Just bb cream, mascara and some skincare items that I use regularly. I plan to shop online so I avoid the “candy aisle” at the register!

If I may, can I submit a request for community recommendations (since it looks like a lot of people are browsing this comment section)?

What are some worthwhile products in the $15-25 range to bring my cart up to the $50 free-shipping minimum? Your favorite rollerballs or trial sizes? I don’t care if it’s on the small side or doesn’t pack the most value; I just want it to be something I’ll use.

I’m a regular Beauty Insider and this year the only thing I’m waiting to buy is Becca primer ($36). I’d like to get free shipping and few fun small products too if I can.

NARS’s pro-prime eye base is a good one if you have oily lids. Helped quite a bit in having my mascara not transfer (huge plus). If you use a brow pencil, that would be good too. Maybe try the sale section and see if anything catches your fancy?

Sephora brush #55 in travel is nice for foundation. Giorgio Armani’s Si is a wonderful fragrance if that type is what you’re interested. Man, the list could go on but I would recommend browsing the sale section to see. 🙂

I just ordered a bunch of stuff before I figured out about the VIB sale so…bad on me? I think I would like to use the discount to spring for my first Viseart palette and a few MUFE single shadows. I am still trying to figure out which Viseart palette would be best for my skin tone and coloring (very fair, neutral to cool). I always order eyeshadows and should really branch out but…sigh.

I was excited to see the Laura Mercier Caviar sticks get such a good rating- I had my makeup done at one of their counters on my birthday and the SA used amethyst, which I loved but has been backordered individually. I have a Nordstrom gift card so I might get that there.

Would like to get some lip glosses but have a huge problem with irritating ingredients and end up returning 95%+ of glosses I buy. I am on the VIB/VIB rouge borderline so this thread has been really helpful in that respect- I’ve been wondering if it would be worth it or no.

Not much on my list, strangely! I think I did enough damage buying those last few palettes, and probably ought to have waited for this sale to get my MUFE 15 Artist Shadows Palette and the Anastasia Self-Made Palette. My fault because I wasn’t thinking about the upcoming sale, and I was in a snit over not getting the UD Spectrum!
So here goes: Guerlain Air Kiss (trying it on this weekend to maje certain I like it on me), Laura Mercier African Violet, or if I can, perhaps her Artist Palette, and not 100% sure what else? I would love to find a dead-on dupe for UD Junkie!

Hi everyone,
I am sephora VIB Rouge but didn’t get the 20% off sake card in the mail. Would I still be able to get 20% off in the store or do I need the card? Thanks!

I played around with blackup cosmetics the other say in store and was very impressed with the blushes and some of the eyeshadows. Also makeup forever. I’ve held off from buying at sephora since September just for the sale. I agree that shopping from Ulta is better I had a. 20% off coupon that included prestige brands and then when I made my purchase I got even more money off due to the points.

I’m a VIB rouge member and even today online , i still get the promotion.. Will this last until the 16th? I found it quite interesting and want to know if anybody else is experiencing this, not that I’m complaining hehe.

Krystalle Avatar

I placed an order during the VIB Rouge sale and then after the sale was finished they cancelled the entire order. I cannot reorder with the sale price because the sale is done. No VIB Rouge sale for me!

Selina Delp Avatar

Hi, when I went to Sephora JC Penny’s they told me that VIB Rouges could partake on the VIB 20% too. I had a few extra things that I changed my mind on but only if I can get 20% off. Anyone know if that’s true?

Marissa Avatar

i already did quite a few damage but i was thinking in getting becca x jaclyn hill’s champagne pop! as a fan of jaclyn’s work and becca’s ssp formula. i’m pumped. also it has been so raaaaved about. i was also thinking in mufe artist palette but i’ve seen people are getting a bad batch and it’s been keeping me from actually purchasing it.

Sofia Avatar

They definitely should have planned this better. My order pushed me into Rouge, and now I can’t order again. CS said I have to call to place an order. Ugh!

I had a small issue with the sale this year, wondering if anyone else did. I started out as a VIB at the beginning of the sale, then after my purchase I became a ROUGE member. Went online to purchase some other products and the vib20 code no longer works for me :(. I now have to make a trip to the store to see if I can get the products there and if they will honor the sale for me.

I missed out on shopping during my VIB Rouge weekend, but my Sephora gave me the 20% off yesterday which was nice. I got my boyfriend some skincare, myself some Bumble & Bumble shampoo and conditioner, and the Tarte mascara primer. I got SOOO much stuff during f&f in October that I didn’t need to grab a lot of stuff this time.
