Round-up: MAC Vamplify Lipglosses Overview & Thoughts

MAC Vamplify Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is a new, limited edition gloss that’s supposed to be pigmented, long-wearing, glossy, and moisturizing. I liked it overall; some shades are really quite nice, others could apply better or aren’t that opaque (which is one of those things that some may love, others may loathe). They weren’t really thick or tacky like Lipglass, but they didn’t slide right off the lips either. I think the shade range had a few shades that were a bit too similar to have both of, in lieu of better variety. I am missing two and hope to have those soon.

I really hope Mac decides to bring these into their permanent range. My wallet is so unhappy with me. I hauled it big-time with these. Best gloss formula IMO to date that I have tried. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I do run out!

I have worn hyper fabulous and modern drama. So far and they were both beautiful!!!!! I bought she rebel and even the girl at the Mac counter in Nordstrom said it was patchy…..I am hoping for the best?

Thanks for the round up. I agree some of the reds are too similar, but overall, MAC did a great job with these, should make these permanent. I ordered Tuned In

I don’t understand why they would introduce a whole new formula, just to make it limited edition. I think a lot of people who don’t like the lipglasses because of how tacky they are would like these, so I think they’d make a good permanent addition. I thought the same thing of the Huggable Lipcolours, that they’d do well as a permanent item.

There are 3-4 shades of this that I love, and I did actually try on and very nearly purchased She-Rebel. It looked great over Heroine l/s, but these looked and felt quite a lot like Nyx’s Extreme Butter Gloss formula to me. In my head? Or no? If my perception is on point, then I’ll stick with Nyx, otherwise I’ll need at least 3 of these!

I bought five of these glosses with high hopes. The colors are beautiful, particularly Suggestive and Peer Pressure. I put them on with MAC’s prep and prime lip, and they ran like water color into the fine lines around my lips. I then proceeded to try them in a variety of different ways to see if I could prevent them from feathering. I used the Urban Decay clear liner, concealer, just my bare lips, and then in desperation I even tried putting eye shadow primer on my lips. These all feathered embarrassingly within five minutes of application. So then I tried just dabbing them on the center of my lips over one of my regular lipsticks. Within one hour the gloss caused my lipstick to pool into the lines of my lips. I own over 50 glosses and none of them feather. I wear gloss on top of my lipstick everyday. I am 49 and do have mature lips, but I rarely have any issues with feathering. I am so disappointed as the colors were so beautiful. I am returning them all. In 8 years of MAC purchases, this will be my first return.

Yea somehow these tend to migrate over the lip line for me especially around the corners. I put my suggestive over my ruby woo lipstick and always bleeds out. Maybe i shouldnt put too much on? Happens when i put a lot on.

Hopefully MAC is one of those beauty companies that are kind to their customers and do good fan service, like relaunching well loved products into permanency. They did do that thing where they brought back candy yum yum permanently. I do prefer this gloss formulation to their lipglass, more thin and less sticky. Even though its higher pigmented, it doesnt smear too badly, like when i wipe it off if it gets out of the lip line, its off in a couple swipes, not like lipstick.

Am I crazy that I just bought 12 of these and I want to buy backups for 5 different shades (the only reason I didn’t buy all of them is that I hate orange (Push Some Buttons, Everybody’s Talking and Flash Drive) and brown (Hyper Fabulous) and one red (Tease Don’t Touch) just wasn’t amazing on me like the others were) Seriously, am I crazy for wanting to buy back ups and 5 no less!?

I’m just not a lip gloss person so I have no idea how long these would last or when they’d go bad but I definitely know that I will be wearing them almost everyday and that I can’t live without them which is impossible since they’re LE 🙁 They are amazing and to my knowledge there isn’t anything else like them. I really hope these become permanent. Also applying lip liner rather than lipstick under them makes them last way longer. Thank you so much for your amazing, thorough and awesome reviews.
