Round-up: NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows Overview & Thoughts
NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows
There are twelve shades of NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.05 oz.), and I’ve now finished reviewing all of them. In general, I like them; I think the textures are soft and smooth for nearly all of the shades. If you apply them with a dampened brush, color payoff is quite good and wear is about average. They’re blendable and easy to apply with no fall out. They’re supposed to be sheer when applied dry, opaque when applied with a dampened brush, and this is sometimes true, sometimes not. A couple were very sheer, and a few were quite pigmented dry. If you aren’t someone who likes to use their eyeshadows wet, then I would say to look elsewhere, but if you like the idea of two types of finishes and color coverage, you may like these.

- BEST PERFORMING: Himalia (A-), Phoebe (A-), Subra (A-)
- WORST PERFORMING: Desdemona (B+), Europa (C-)
- WARM-TONED: Andromeda (B+), Dione (B+), Europa (C-), Himalia (A-), Lysithea (B), Phoebe (A-), Subra (A-), Sycorax (B-)
- COOL-TONED: Callisto (B+), Cassiopeia (B), Giove (B+)
- LEAST SHIMMERY: Europa (C-), Sycorax (B-)
- PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS: Callisto (B+), Subra (A-)
Have loved all the swatches of these, they seem like a great but different product. Love the idea of two different finished but not sure I’d pay the price for a single eyeshadow.
They are pretty pricey for singles!
So very much appreciate the review on the new formula and of all the shades. Once again you have saved me a bundle and I feel I can happily look in other places (surely, GA) to round out my stash. I may grab one of these just cause.. Thanks so much, Christine!
My pleasure, Wendy! 🙂 It will be interesting to hear readers’ thoughts, in general, once they’re out and others have tried!
I have never gotten on the wet bandwagon except if I’m using a shadow as a liner. Not sure I could blend the shades properly that way 🙁
They’re really blendable even when wet 🙂
I really liked Subra too. Though I have no prbs using shadows wet, I hardly ever do or have the time for it. At $29 each, unless I plan to use it a lot skipping is the way to go. But maybe I will just get Subra 😉
Let me know if you end up trying it, Vineetha!
Callisto and Subra will be then! Thanks Christine.
Btw… i am looking for an aubergine eye shadow. Can you recommend me a nice one? I am currently wearin the one that comes in the Too Faced à la mode palette, but im running oit and dont feel like getting a sevond one only cause of that shade… Thank you again. Hope you are having a great day.
Hey Andrea,
All dupes are here – http://www.temptalia.com/faced-la-mode-eyeshadow-palette-review-photos-swatches-dupes
Not entirely sure which shade you’re referring to, so I just linked to the post!
Was talking about Solei. Yes, sweetie, already checked it, but I guess what Im looking for is Le Metier De Beaute in Fig… Thanks to your review on Eggplant (or aubergine) colors.
Actually Subra would do too.
At least there are a few A-‘s! Thanks for the quick reviews, they’re unfortunately a pass for me now. 🙁
They’re a little pricey, I think, and they’re not super, duper, awe-inspiring amazing. If you don’t mind using them wet, they’re nice, though.
Callisto is really nice and if I had the money it’s the one I would choose.
Do you think you’ll be getting it or is it too pricey?
Great job once again! I’m getting Subra. It looks like a beautiful shade 🙂
It’s very nice!
Greatly thankful for the review! 🙂
Happy to help! Will you be trying any? At least in-store maybe?
🙂 I don’t think so. 🙂
