Revlon Spun Sugar & Bordeaux Parfumerie Nail Lacquer Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Revlon Indulgent Parfumerie Set
Revlon Indulgent Parfumerie Set ($10.00 for 2 x 0.40 fl. oz.) includes two Parfumerie polishes–a full range of this style of scented polish will be making its way into Revlon’s permanent range, though I’ve yet to see a display locally. I think every store I’ve been into just has aisles of holiday gift sets and kits, mostly cologne and perfume, so maybe they’re holding back some of the other new products. They’re packaged like miniature-sized perfume bottles with plastic, slightly rubberized, rounded tops. Each bottle contains 0.40 fl. oz. of product, and then they are scented. The scent isn’t supposed to be noticeable until it dries down, and the scent lasts about eight hours on me. I was only able to smell it if I put my nose to my nails, otherwise it’s rather subtle and almost not there.
Spun Sugar is a metallic, light pewter–a mix of gold and silver and gray–with threads of metallic shimmer. It was mostly opaque after two coats, but there were very visible brush strokes. The consistency was a little thick but manageable. I noticed the polish dried down rather quickly (not totally unexpected, given it’s a metallic). I tested this shade for wear, and it managed seven days but had a fair amount of tip wear (more than average for me). I couldn’t think of a dupe for this one based on past polishes I’ve reviewed! It has a sweet, sugary scent.
Bordeaux is a reddish plum with a cream finish. It was opaque after two coats of polish, and the consistency was on the thinner side, but it wasn’t problematic during application. When I wore it, this shade didn’t chip for seven days but had more tip wear than I usually see after a week. It has a very fruity, grape candy scent–very synthetic and jammy. Dior Graphic Berry (LE, $24.00) is darker, cooler-toned. China Glaze Traffic Jam (LE, $8.00) is darker, cooler-toned. Guerlain Madame Batifole (860) (LE, $23.00) is slightly brighter. Chanel Suspicious (P, $27.00) is pinker. Butter London Blowing Raspberries (P, $15.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.
I found this set at my local Walgreens, but I don’t think they’re available online, and I didn’t see the polishes sold alone online yet.

Fabulous!
Me encantan!! Los colores preciosos, y el nuevo envase me recuerda mucho a los botes de gel de los hoteles, pero queda bien.
I like the Spun Sugar, visible brush strokes and all!
I’m not *hugely* bothered by brush strokes usually, but these drove me nuts, lol!
The colors are amazing. Too bad the Spun Sugar didn’t grade higher ’cause that the one I would buy of the two.
Aww, definitely too bad!
Loving both of these shades. So festive! Thanks for sharing 🙂
My pleasure, Jen!
That silver is really beautiful even with the brush strokes. It’s quite unique looking and ‘spun sugar’ is an excellent description. Lovely!
The packaging is really cute, very un-Revlon like! I quite like Bordeaux.
Spun Sugar looks like China Glaze Platinum Silver to me, down to the brush strokes.
Thanks for sharing that dupe, Carmel!
I generally like Revlon’s formula and feel it performs well for the price point, but this just seems very gimmicky–like something my preteen niece would enjoy. I think I’ll stick with the original.
I’ve seen the full range at Rexall in Canada. I was very hesitant about this range for performance at they’re $9.99CAN for one bottle. lol
Oh, wow, that sounds high for Revlon polish!
There are some really pretty shades in this line – I’ve only tried Autumn Spice, but I might be picking up a couple more. I actually like that it’s not too scented so that it’s not annoying.
I know what you mean about the holiday sets in the drugstores. I used to work in one long ago and… I don’t think anyone ever bought them, so I’m not sure why there are so many!
Either nobody is buying them or someone is restocking as soon as one leaves, because they always look FULL! I wonder if it looks ravaged say the 24th or 25th – totally last minute gifts for those who forgot!
Oh! I loved Spun sugar for the shade it is!
This set really misses the mark for me. 1. The colors are so overdone. A metallic + red for Christmas? Unless they are really well done, I’m over that combo. 2. The finish on that red polish is really weird. I feel like it looks cheap. It’s not shiny or opaque enough.
Chrisine, what’s your favorite holiday nail polish?
Here are some 🙂

Bordeaux is a really nice shade, but I don’t think my nose will like scented nail polish.
It’s fairly subtle, but if you have a super nose, you might stay away!
I saw a big display of these at my local Walmart !!
Awesome!
I like the Bordeaux shade .. It looks classy too . The Spun Sugar is a nice shade but i hate streaky nailpaints ..
I’ve heard of these polishes being sold separately at Bed, Bath and Beyond’s that have beauty sections, but I live in the sticks and the closest one is about 20 miles away. The closest store to me is Walgreens and I found this same set there. I really liked it!
Yep, they are going to be permanent, so you can buy them individually! 🙂
So funny I see this review because I just finished painting my nails with the Autumn Spice polish! I love the formula of it. Thin coats, but very opaque and it dried rather quickly. Nice autumn-y scent. 🙂 I snagged that one and Wintermint which is a dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s Mermaid Dream. I want to pick up some more polishes. I don’t mind the scents that much because they fade after a day or so, so I’m not really buying them for that purpose. I just really like most of the shades and it’s pretty affordable for me. And of course the pretty bottles!
I wish the caps looked a little nicer – maybe just a glossy black would have been nice, even though I get why they went with a more textured version!
I don’t quite understand the appeal of scented nail
polish unless it is for children. I had some in grade school
the peel off scented variety haha
I feel kind of silly for saying it, but these sound so cool. Bring on all the scented nail polishes! 😀
I take it these polishes have the same “nail polish/chemical-y” smell while applying? My husband is very sensitive to the smell of the chemicals in most nail polishes, so it would be great if these didn’t make the house smell like a nail salon.
P.S -You didn’t list how many coats it took to make Bordeaux look opaque.
Two coats for Bordeaux.
Yes, they smell like regular polishes while drying/using!
We have a full display here in Canada but it said that they’re limited edition D: I’m happy if they’ll be permanent though, I have Autumn Spice but I’d like to get to try some others in the future!
These polishes look nice, but I don’t know what the attraction to scented polishes is.
Finally saw some of these singly at a Meijer near me. They had two displays out on an endcap. I’ve been wanting Autumn Spice, but I held off, because I’m participating in a polish-centric gift exchange and had put that on my wishlist, haha.
Ooh, hope you get those in the exchange!
I have never seen a set like this from Revlon. What a cute little packaging for the holidays. It is disappointing that the formula is a bit streaky but for two decent polishes, this isn’t a bad value. May have to pick this up!
Sorry but these are a total yawn!
CVS had a bunch of the singles for around $6. I bought Wintermint, a pistachio-mint green with some blue glitter flecks, and it looks just like Deborah Lippmann’s Mermaid’s Dream. I love this color.
I like Bordeaux, but I can’t stand red nails on myself…I always go for cool tones!
