Rescue Beauty Lounge Pause Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Rescue Beauty Lounge Pause Nail Lacquer
Rescue Beauty Lounge Pause Nail Lacquer ($20.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “mid-violet silky shimmer.” It’s a vibrant, medium-dark grape purple with violet shimmer and pearl. China Glaze Creative Fantasy is more like a jelly, so it has no shimmer, and it is also warmer/pinker. Illamasqua Poke has subtle shimmer, but the color is pinker and lighter–not as dark as Pause.
This polish was fully opaque in two coats. It had a slightly thicker consistency, but it did not seem to impede application at all, as it applied beautifully. I didn’t have issues with the formula bubbling, streaking, or pooling, though it did seem to take longer to dry than the average polish. When it dries, it does so with a naturally shiny finish (but I think a top coat helps give it a plusher, even glossier look, so I’d still recommend it). I usually get a full week of wear out of Rescue Beauty Lounge’s formula with very minor tip wear and no chipping–it’s one of the longer-wearing formulas I’ve come across.

Looks lovely, but not amazing enough to warrant $20.
I usually don’t get too excited over purples, but I really like this one! Maybe it’s the shimmer in it? 🙂
Gorgeous! I’m not normally one for purples, but this is really nice!!
It has such a pretty colour !
I’m honestly not impressed with this company one bit. The polishes are fine, nothing so out of this world. I ordered 3 polishes sometime back after so much hoopla on another blog about how great they were. The drawbacks are they cost $20 which is fine but add a hefty shipping fee and a ridiculous return policy limit. My polishes came 3 weeks after I ordered and i was told the return policy was absolutely no returns and exchanges only for untried polishes within a week. I couldn’t find their policy easily on the website either. You can’t try or see anything in person and barely have any time to think what you want to exchange for. Its unfair to have to blindly order something and not have a flexible policy. Plus, you will have to pay return shipping and new shipping for exchange. I will pay happily for Chanel or Dior but with the confidence of seeing it in person and with great department stores backing up the product if im unhappy with it for any reason. I have over 300 polishes but RBL will never get my business again because I believe if you are an Internet company you should make it even easier for a consumer to shop with you, not make it so impossible. I hope you will post this Christine because I’m a loyal reader of yours and your reviews are awesome and I know you tell exactly how the product performs and I always check your review before buying anything. I wanted to add this because readers may not be aware of the policy which is what deters me from RBL. Policy counts just as much as a product when there are hundreds of great brands ro choose from Thanks
Watch out–Ji does not take ANY form of criticism of her, her company, her polishes, etc. well!
I agree with you, though–I think for these prices, not only the polishes but also the service need to be absolutely top notch. Unfortunately, RBL falls short on the latter, and I don’t support companies whose policies or proprietors are unprofessional.
Lol, what will she do? A good company listens to their customer and makes it even better. No one can continue to run a successful business not accepting criticism or fixing their faults, it eventually catches up with them.
Perhaps that’s why her return policy is so bad. I mean, if you don’t take criticism well, it’s because you refuse to see that there is a problem anywhere.
So if everything is swell, WHY would anyone need to return anything? While I would love to exist in that world of perfection, it just isn’t happening for me.
It’s just nail polish! Listen to the customer, and give them their money back,
And don’t overcharge for shipping! Seems simple.
China Glaze Coconut Kiss is a definite dupe although this might be a bit darker. I probably wouldn’t pick this up because I have that shade but this is very pretty 🙂
That is a very lovely purple!
I have butter London HRH which is a simamr colour but metallic finish so I’m not tempted 😉
RBL’s creator has a great eye for color. I haven’t tried this formula, but Pause is just gorgeous.
This looks a lot like Wet n Wild’s Buffy the Violet Slayer.
Also, this is the color I was hoping MAC Heroine would be.
Not super impressed by this shade. Illamasqua poke on the other hand… I still don’t have an illamasqua polish. I’m definitely buying raindrops when it hits Sephora but I should really try one or two other shades for the formula.
I just got this in the mail yesterday and I’m happy to see how beautiful it looks! Even though I am having problems with nail breakage lately, (sigh!) I look forward to using this. Looks gorgeous on you as usual!
Hope your nails take a turn for the better soon, Terri! xo
It’s nice. But for this price … I’d rather buy Illamasqua, Chanel, Dior, or something along those lines. And the color definitely isn’t unique across brands which is a bit disappointing.
I also recently bought Butter London’s HRH – which like someone else mentioned is a very similar color but with a metallic finish, so no motivation to try this. 🙁
Oooh I really really like the color – and the opaqueness after two coats. BUT I don’t think I’d ever spend $20 on just one nail polish 🙁
WOW! this is like the perfect purple…..just not sure about the price tag…. 🙁
