The $18 Splurge for Nail Fanatics

Rescue Beauty Lounge Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.4 fl. oz.) is a formula that always hits the right notes. It’s never thick, clumpy, or streaky–application is incredibly easy with a flawless, smooth finish in two coats (on average). Lasts a full week for me (that’s about as long as I wear a single shade) without chipping.

  • Scrangie is a pinky-purple base with stronger pink-red undertones that goes almost blue-violet from the flashes of blue and green shimmer. It almost has a duochrome effect! I’m such a sucker for anything remotely duochrome. This shade is named after Scrangie, a nail blogger, and it is inspired by the a beetle’s wings. Two coats.
  • Under the Stars is a blackened navy blue base with lighter blue micro-glitter pieces and blue shimmer strewn through its base. It’s unusual in the way it has this mixture of a cosmicly lit-up background and then more obvious specks of glitter, too. The name is quite fitting. Two coats.
  • Black Russian is a blackened brown-red base with flecks of glowing red glitter. The effect is similar to Under the Stars, but the “background” shimmer is much, much finer–it’s almost like a muted burgundy so it doesn’t come across as much as it does in Under the Stars. Two coats.

It’s the first time I’m commenting on your blog and it’s the first comment on this post wow! I just love Rescue Beuaty Lounge, I own about 20 and love them all! I know everyone is crazy about Scrangie but I’m not, I love Under The Stars and Black Russian!

Hey Christine,

do you have Lipmann’s Across the Universe? How does that compare next to Under the Stars? Do you think one would need both? Thank you!

Happy Tuesday dude!

these nail polishes look GORGEOUS! i’d get them all if i wasn’t on a budget ):

btw, your nail polish swatches have been improving by leaps and bounds! those from.. a year back? look pretty sloppy 😑 but now your nails look simply fab πŸ˜€

I bought Scrangie back in the summer, and I’m not sure if it was the extremely humid weather or the polish formula, but it went on really thick. Was totally disappointed because I heard about how buttery RBL’s formula is.

Did you have that experience, too? I’m going to try it again on a dry, cool day just to rule out the weather factor. This is such a gorgeous color – would hate to see it go to waste in my collection.

Hmm, I didn’t have any issues with application. It’s a little thicker than the average polish but wasn’t hard to work with either!

Yup, RBL’s 50% off sale in November makes these polishes much more wallet-friendly. $9 is just a little beyond full-priced OPI. (Although I would never pay full price for OPI.)

I currently have RBL Chinoise on my toes and I loooove it!

Which of the 3 would you say is your fav? They look so much better with flash oppose to natural light. :/ Could you tell much difference? Thanx Christine!

Beautiful colors, I might have to take the splurge. I notice you said your nails can last a week before they start chipping. What do you use on your nails for them to last that long?

Wow Under the Stars is sooo beautiful. All of them are gorgeous, but I need to get that. Lovely color combo.

Christine – I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned it already or not but the site has been increasingly difficult to load over the last 6 mos or so. I think some of the interactive sidebar tools are the main culprit but even my monster machine is chugging a bit when trying to load the Temptalia pages these days. You probably are already aware, but just in case! I visit Temptalia every day and I sit through the load times anyways, but I figured I should probably mention it! Thanks and keep up the great work, I always look forward to swatch posts especially!

Hey Brianne,

I’m not sure what’s going on – it loads fine for me – Temptalia has always been on the slower side, but it’s been faster for me in the past 2 months than it was say six months ago!

Thank you for letting me know!

ThatΒ΄s very nice for Scrangie, and I think the colour fits to what she likes πŸ™‚ (blue, purple and glitter, amongst other things, or so is the impression I get from her blog). However, yep, the price is really high. πŸ™

I have Scrangie and love love love it!
I also have Under The Stars on order (included it in my pre-order of ‘The Real Housewives of the Tudor Dynasty’ collection), can’t wait to get it now that I’ve seen more photos of it!

I got Black Russian when it originally came out years ago as ReVamp but Ji Baek had to change it due to Chanel threatening to sue, due to it’s classic…Vamp. It is such a beautiful dimensional color

I’m surprised Chanel thought to do that OR that it could. Only because a lot of shade names, well, aren’t exactly distinct enough to qualify for copyright protection… well, from my tiny legal knowledge that is.

Love Scrangie (and the nail polish color) and the other two are great. I just wish Black Russian’s red showed through like the blue in Under the Stars. I like my colors a little more obvious. But I think I will splurge and buy my first RBL colors.
