Rescue Beauty Lounge Housewives of Tudor England Collection Review, Photos, Swatches
Going English with Rescue Beauty
Rescue Beauty Lounge just launched their Housewives of Tudor England Collection. It features four shades: Anne (bewitching olive green with a pink-gold metallic iridescence), Catherine (royal purple with a fine pewter sheen and hints of blue and fuschia shimmer), Catherine H. (shimmering Wedgewood blue hue with a hint of a gold- and pink-flecked darkening sky), and Jane (pale gray pearl with sheer washes of pink and gold). Each retails for $18.00 (for 0.4 fl. oz.).
- Anne is a dark, luxurious olive green with a mix of pink and gold micro shimmer. The shimmer seems really fine but plentiful; it’s like it was strewn through the color base. It has a very slight yellow undertone, but this is definitely more olive green than green-green. Two coats.
- Catherine is a grayed purple with pink and gray micro-shimmer laced with the color. There’s a subtle cool undertone running through this, despite it’s eggplanty-red base. Two coats.
- Catherine H. is a medium-dark periwinkle blue with lilac shimmer and iridescent blue microglitter. It is just the slightest bit purple-toned, but it’s still predominantly a blue shade. Two coats.
- Jane is a muted gray-beige creme with flecks of pale gold microglitter hovering in the base; it’s the least glittery/shimmery of the four. I couldn’t detect any pink in this, even under direct light. Two coats.
I found the formula on these a little thinner than the majority of Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes that I’ve tried, which isn’t a bad thing, just something I noticed from the get-go. I only needed two coats for all four of these, though Jane may be one that you may go three coats on. Otherwise, these are rather pigmented on the whole. Application went smoothly with no streaking and even color and shimmer distribution. They dry down to a semi-shiny finish, so I’d definitely recommend a glossy top coat for these to look their best (I used Zoya’s).

They look pretty with the flash!
I’m very much liking Anne and Catherine. Don’t think I know of anywhere that sells this brand, though
all are incredibly gorgeous
The history geek in me is totally losing it.
Have they really done a collection with the names of Henry VII’s wives??? amazing…
Where can i purchase those nail polish? they look pretty!!
rescuebeauty.com!
… I want all of those.
Mostly because I am a history major dork.
Hooray!
I’m really loving Anne.
Why do you use Zoya’s top coat? Do think it’s a lot better than Seche Vite?
I tend to use Zoya’s Color Lock System – always seems to keep my polish on all week long. I do like Seche Vite a lot, though!
These colors are gorgeous and the history buff in me also likes the names;I’d have a very hard time, though,in paying $18.00 for a bottle of nail polish!!
These all look really flat and dull despite the shimmer. :S
Oh. My. God. I may or may not be totally obsessed with Henry VIII and his wives so this is AMAZING. I love the color choices they picked for them too, all are perfect for their personalities. I’m loving Anne (she’s my favorite and the subject of the biggest paper I ever had to write), hopefully I can find somewhere around here to buy it!!!!
I pre-ordered Anne and Catherine but haven’t had a chance to try them yet. There are so many beautiful new polishes this Fall!
Love Jane and Catherine! these colours are pretty unusual!
i LOVE Jane! very, very beautiful colour 🙂
This has to be the most awesomely named cosmetics collection in history. The name alone has had me lemming this collection all summer. I hate paying $18 for a bottle of polish though. I never let myself buy high priced nail brands because I buy so much nail polish I rarely wear a color more than 1-2x and that’s not enough to justify the price of luxury brands. Anne’s probably awesome enough to break my will though.
I really like how in tune the colors are to the theme, I think these women would have liked the subdued but oddly strong colors.
wish I could afford them all… $18 is excessive for a little bottle of polish.
I got Jane, Anne and Catherine. They’re expensive, but unique.
I love that they are named after Henry’s wives- So clever. While Anne is my favorite wife of his, Catherine seems to be my favorite polish!
Colours that I don’t have! Totally buying them.
Catherine is an amazing color !! I really like Catherine H too. I’ll try to get my hands (and nails lol) on these shades, very pretty indeed.
liking catherine h!
I love everything, but Catherine is especially gorgeous!!
I love Anne and Catherine’s the best, the sparkle looks so pretty. 🙂
I am loving Jane, but don’t know how this would look with my yellow skin undertones, I’ve been having a problem with many polishes, Tickle My France as an example…
I wonder how different RBL’s Catherine H And MAC’s Ming Blue are, besides the shimmer (and maybe Jane’s and Earthly Harmony’s base colors are similar, too?). Other than that, I quite like all of them.
Here are MAC swatches: http://www.temptalia.com/mac-nail-trend-fw-2010-review-photos-swatches
Ming is nothing like Catherine H. Earthly Harmony is a few shades darker (and seems warmer) than Jane.
I feel like I need Jane in my life, and not only because I have the same name. It looks like such a pretty neutral and very wearable for whatever season. I don’t have anything like that in my collection. Anne and Catherine also look so beautiful. And the English major in me who studies a lot of Renaissance British literature appreciates this collection.
My faves are Anne and Jane but the price.. 😡
do you think anne is close to mercenary from the style warrior collection or is it really more green than bronze? it seems amazing!
Greener!
I really wish RBL polishes wern’t so expensive. All their colors are to die for. I just have a hard time shelling out $18 for nail polish.
I love these! I’m definitely getting Anne..but I can’t decide between Catherine or Catherine H.
These are nice colours but the names are bugging me. Firstly, Henry VIII had two wives named Anne (Anne Boleyn and Anne of Cleves) so which is this polish supposed to be for? Secondly, he had three wives called Catherine (Catherine Howard, Catherine Parr and Catherine of Aragon). Why haven’t they done 6 colours? Seems silly to me.
