Rescue Beauty Lounge Bruised Nail Lacquer
Rescue Beauty Lounge Bruised Nail Lacquer
Rescue Beauty Lounge Bruised Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.5 fl. oz.) is described as both a brown and plum. On me, it’s a deep, burgundied plum with a cream finish. It’s really, really pigmented–you almost don’t need two coats. It’s like the second coat is just for the sake of finishing, but if you were precise with your first coat, you could leave it there. The formula is thick enough to hold all of that magnificent color pay off, but not so thick that it becomes difficult to work with. It flows over the nail easily and doesn’t bubble at all, and I felt like the drying time here was a little faster than the norm. I typically get a full week of wear with RBL’s formula.
Rescue Beauty Lounge does some really neat things–they are definitely very customer-oriented and take feedback well. Several months ago, the brand let customers vote on four shades to bring back and relaunch–the winners were Bruised, Purple Haze, Black Russian, Bikini Bottom, and Stormy. In fact, another Bring It Back event was held and winners (Locavore, Anne, 360, and Scrangie) were announced last month. The whole concept is just very cool, and this is why smaller brands can be so easy to fall in love with.

Gorgeous color! Thanks for the review. 🙂
Rescue Beauty Lounge does make lovely colours. Tracey and I from the Spa Travellers recently visited the actual Rescue Beauty Lounge on a recent trip to NYC. We were very excited to visit the famous lounge at last! Our service and overall experience sadly did not live up to our expectations. They were overbooked and Tracey’s therapist walked out in the middle of her mani with not explanation to do another client, leaving Tracey to wait for over 20 minutes not knowing what was going on. When we were finished they even asked for a larger tip! I wrote a follow-up email to Ji herself and after a (second) email to her got a very lukewarm apology. I was not impressed with RBL and won’t go back.
I’m a sucker for colors like this. Another dupe might be Essie’s Bahama Mama
OMG, I need this!
pretty color, but the name “Bruised” is kind of a turnoff. i’m sure that sounds weird, haha.
I’m wearing Bruised right now! On my skintone (NC40) it actually pulls a lil more on the brown side. But it’s really a chameleon… One second it looks more plum, then I glance the next minute and I swear it’s brown. LOVE this shade!!!
Hahaha I knew ReBeL-ers will jump on this post. Bruised is amazing! I say don’t wait for fall because it’ll probably be gone long before 🙂
The color is gorgeus, really!
I personally think Bruised might be one of the most stunning creme colors out there. I just love RBL and Ji Baek — and they’re AMAZING customer service.
There’s nothing quite like getting Ji’s fabulous little tissue paper-wrapped polishes in the mail…
Wow, this looks beautiful on you. I wish mine looked so beautifully plummy on me.
This is like MAC rebel in a bottle! Love!
Oooo, I showed this to my mum and she’s all over it 🙂 I’m going to have to do some serious hunting around to find a place in Toronto that might sell these. Or maybe the brand is only available to purchase online?
I LOVE this shade and don’t have one quite like it in my stash…going to need to find a place to purchase Rescue BL – I love to look at bottles in person, but that does not work for anything but a few lines we have within about 70 miles of my house. Ummmm a dup might be Essie Bahama Mama I see in comments…I have seen that name in displays around at drug stores – maybe I will take a look at that one.
