Rediscovering Old Favorites
What products have you found and fallen in love with all over again?
Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv and T3 Bespoke Featherweight Hair Dryer are products I’ve recently used again, after prolonged periods of disuse, and I remembered how much I loved them when I first tried them… and was reminded how much I still love them. I reviewed one of the creams from Estee Lauder’s Re-Nutriv line a few years ago (Ultimate Youth Creme), and I recently started using their Ultimate Lift Creme. I’ve trialed many products between then and now, and I found myself still loving many of the qualities inherent in the Re-Nutriv creams (smell, texture, dry down, hydration levels).
The product that really inspired this post, though, was my trusty T3. I have very long, thick hair and a whole lot of it, which means it takes far too long to dry, never wants to stay lifted, and generally, I skip the blow drying. I don’t know why I loathe it so, because with the T3, it still takes just five minutes to go from wet to dry for me. I use a large round brush and go for it, and I think I need to start taking that five minutes to blow dry rather than go to bed with damp hair!
I’m trying out my Too Faced Shadow Insurance after months of Urban Decay Eden PP. The weather has changed, and my skin is less oily, so Eden is not necessary at this time.
I’ve been using Stila Kajal in Onyx recently, and I’ve forgotten how black it really is!
My Samsara perfume and Clinique Black Honey almost lipstick! LOVE.
For the longest time I have been using Too Faced Shadow Insurance. My first primer was Urban Decay Primer Potion, and I loved the product but hated the packaging. You could hardly get any of it out, so I switched. Years later, My Too Faced Shadow Insurance tube busted open and I was in need of another, but when I went to Sephora, Urban Decay Primer Potion had changed the packaging to a tube like the Too Faced. So I decided to try it out again and I am SO happy! It just works so much better for me and my oilier lids!
I would marry my T3 were it legal in any of the States. 😀
BPAL Valse Finale Et Apotheose – three honeys, white mint, and apple blossom. I took it out after almost a year and it’s a lovely perfume. It lasts all day, too, which is something I can’t say about lots of pefume oils.
MAC Rebelrock Blue – even though I’m not a fan of MAC pigments, I love the colour.
I’m rediscovering just about all my makeup because I stopped using a lot of it during my pregnancy due to some of the ingredients in the products. I’m realizing I have a lot of great stuff. Revisiting your collection is something we should all do from time to time.
I`ve recently been ussing again Max factor’s Masterpiece creamy eyeshadow as a primer, my eyelids are gettin’ olier recently 🙁
My first MAC lipstick, Viva Glam II and Nymphette Lipglass purchased 10+ years ago and again today, wondered why I haven’t kept them on hand? Too much MAC and too little time!
Just started using my bb Shimmer bricks after a long time. I forgot how wonderful these are…
oh and I was so busy trying and finding great new mascaras (stila forever your curl, Mallys Mascara,) that I forgot how great Nyx Dolleyes was until I used it the other day.
My old Hard Candy palettes. Especially the one called Wallflower, it has the most awesome browns and so much pigment. I bought the palettes when I first got into make-up and then went on to buy lots of MAC, but really I think all I needed where those palettes.
I got Lancome Vintage Rose lipstick as a GWP a couple of years ago and don’t reach for it very often because, to me, it’s kinda a meh color, yet every time I bust it out of my stash (which I’m sad to say is maybe once a year or so) and actually make myself wear it, I’m blown away by how pretty it looks.
Side note: I have decided to use up or throw out old makeup.
A beautiful gold Estée Lauder GWP neutral eyeshadow palette. I have had this FOREVER and I was collecting it. I was hoping it smelled bad or was ruined but to my surprise it was in great shape … except for the foam tip applicator, which had disintegrated. LOL! This sucka holds a lot of product. Great for my fall looks!!
I think I have the same one…if it comes with 8 shades. It’s GWP also. I havent used it yet, but it’s gorgeous. Unlike Nars, Estee Lauder’s stuff dont turn rancid. That entire GWP set was fab…fabulous.
Well snap Stacey!! I must have missed that one 🙁 This one holds 4 large pans … white, grey, peach and pink. The brush is double ended with a foam tip and a fluffy brush (which I don’t use). I cannot remember what else came with the GWP set, as I used them up a while ago. Have you seen the GWP that Nordstrom is doing? I don’t need anything now, so I will be passing on it 🙁
I rediscovered some “old” MAC shadows (Vanilla, Contrast and White Frost)I purchased about 10 years ago. I still use and love them. And I repurchased Ralph by Ralph Lauren this summer. It is so fresh and reminds me of my first parties.
CARGO blushes! I wear them almost everyday lately. Too bad Sephora doesn’t carry CARGO anymore… 🙁
I know! So sad!
Ulta does!
I had forgotten how amazing my liquid undereye concealer looked when I blended it with a 224. It really does make it look airbrushed! I had also forgotten how amazing the ELF Eyebrow Kit makes my brows look, especially since it’s meant to look natural. Oh, and I used my EL Double Wear the other day with a stippling brush… omg flawlesssss
I’ve recently dug out my Covergirl TruShine Lipstick in Wine Shine, which isn’t made anymore, and my husband gave me beaucoup compliments on the shade!
