Rant & Rave: Waterproof Foundation

Waterproof Foundation

I’ve had very, very limited experience with these, but some of them can feel very… heavy? or mask-like on the skin, even if they aren’t technically heavy (as they have improved over time).

The only waterproof foundation I’ve used in MAC’s new “Pro Longwear Nourishing Foundation” and I absolutely love it! Raves: it has incredible wear time, feels very light on the skin when applied with a damp beauty blender, and provides beautiful buildable coverage. No rants!

I usually wear it for at least 12-14 hours, then remove with my Clarisonic and cleanser and it comes off 100% from my face. Occasionally if I’ve brought it very far down my neck I’ll have to hit it with some toner, but that’s only because I don’t always cleanse all the way down my neck.

Very easily! While it does not come off with water alone, it comes off quickly with a micellar water or cleanser and muslin cloth. I use Bioderma and/or Eve Lom Cleanser.

Shiseido stick foundation and liquid sunscreen foundation look natural, are not heavy and provide excellent sun protection. I’ve worn both for swimming laps and the foundation does not wear off in the water.

This stuff is my favorite foundation of all! Held up well in the TX humidity even. I use a brush for application, and it takes very little. Waterproof, but I use Purity and it removes it well, or sometimes Purity and my Clairisonic!

I agree Micaela! I was on the fence when I first purchased it. I have worn Studio Fix (powder) and Matchmaster for years (which I still love), however, this foundation is EVERYTHING. I have oily skin and have had no issues with it as far as wear time. It goes on like butter and has a beautiful satin like finish on my skin. It is a bit pricey to me though for the amount you get in the tube, however it is worth every penny. Needless, to say I am so pleased with this foundation. 🙂

Hey Tammy! I also have very oily skin and I really appreciate the way this foundation helps to control oil. I will say I was disappointed to find out it was less than 1oz, but considering I’ve purchased Dior foundations that I like less and are pricier, I’ll take the trade off. MAC has created a gem!

To my knowledge, the only true waterproof foundation is the new MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation. It has medium coverage, is hydrating, and does not sit on top of the skin. I really prefer it to most foundations. And if it’s waterproof!

Never used one! I use Tom Ford’s Traceless Perfecting which it may be at least sweat resistant because it doesn’t budge through sweat and heat. I’m seeing these comments about that Mac Pro longwear and wanting to try it. But, I’m kinda scared because the only Mac foundation that has not broke me out is face and body. My skin is not even break out prone! I’m going to have to ask for a sample when I go look at the Haute Dog collection at the counter.:)

The only waterproof foundation I’ve used is MAC’s new PLW Nourishing Foundation and I absolutely love it!
Applied with a damp beauty blender, I get a good medium coverage that has a satin finish on my skin. It looks natural and feels very light. Plus it wears great throughout the day (it doesn’t budge!). I’ve been using it every day for a month now and I can’t think of anything negative to say, highly recommend!

Haven’t tried a true waterproof foundation ;Yet. But after reading all the raves for MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Foundation, I really want a sample to see how it goes for me, and most importantly, do they have a shade equivalent to their Studio Fix Liquid Foundation in C4.5?

Hi Everyone,

I have only used MACs fairly recent release in waterproof foundation. I personally love it. I am 62 with uneven coloring on my face and this does a fine job. I sweat (age related) but it stays in place in spit of the drips. I have only one thought here is that I am NW20 in most MAC, the waterproof is lighter to maybe NW 15 so occasionally I mix it with a darker NARS. Good luck.

Estee Lauder Double Wear will last & last! So much so, It stained the bristles on my Clarisonic. I’ve cleaned the head with everything in my arsenal & I soaked it over night BUT nothing will remove that double wear stain! My face however was cleaned after using Purity, then Murad Clarifying cleanser with the Clarisonic & then Clinique step 2 toner. Obviously this is not a everyday foundation.
