i honestly hate liquid lipstick. they always make my lips dryed out and after a cople of hours my lips always get very sticky (at least this is what’s happened with the ones i’ve tried, which admittedly is only a few)

I like them a lot, particularly when they’re not sticky! I love the Illamasqua intense lipglosses (which in my opinion are more liquid lipsticks than real glosses) and I also have Beaute Masochist.
I think they disappear through the day with more grace than lipstick, and they’re also less drying.

I want to try the Chanel formula you’re raving about, but most of teh ones I’ve tried leave my lips feeling dry, and peeling chunks of dry skin away with the color.

Yeah. Not my thing.

I LOVE liquid lipstick! I find it far easier to apply than solid. I seem to have trouble applying solid from a stick and staying “within the lines.” Anything with the little foam padded brush is my friend.

LOVE the idea, but rarely find a good one. I suppose the best I’ve found thus far would be Guerlain KissKiss Laque, and that’s probably more of an ultra-pigmented gloss and it’s been discontinued anyway. I’ve been trying to love Chanel Rouge Allure Laque, even got four of them but it’s just not working for me. A very expensive experiment 🙁

I use Boots No7 “Stay Perfect Lip Lacquer”, and I love it – the colour lasts all day, and can be removed using makeup remover (or, if I’m being lazy, I rub hard with my finger to peel it off). It lasts through dance classes, eating and drinking. I rarely use the gloss at the other end of the double-ended tube, though, as I find my hair sticks to it when it’s windy outside.

just a few months ago i stumbled upon lorac couture shine when i got it as a sample from sephora. and i loved it. i didn’t even know it was a liquid lipstick, it felt so awesome on, and its not drying. definitely worth it!

[ps, ive only just recently started reading your blog…and ive been going page by page-while at work, oops!- and loving every thing i see and read! now i come here every day for my beauty fix :)]

The Chanel Rouge Allure Laques are not only my favorite liquid lipstick, but also probably my favorite lip product ever. I have six of them, and I hope they come out with new colors eventually. If they ever discontinue them I don’t know what I’ll do!

i guess the closest thing i’ve tried would be the MAC lip lacquers and i LOVE those formulas. not sure about any other brand…i need to get my hands on that varnish i saw you wearing in an older post Christine! omg i think it was called warning. BEAUTIFUL!!!

Love them. Been using the chanel lacques with love and also fyrinnae’s lip lustres which are kinda similar in what they do. I do find that after they wear away it’ll be a bit drying but that’s my lips since it happens to everything I wear and if i reapply it’s not so bad.

I find that they’re more forgiving when you apply and are a bit like a gloss (ie: if you have dry lips) but that you’ll have to reapply if you don’t want them to look dry after they’ve worn. With a normal lipstick I can’t apply without having primed lips since it’ll show up like crazy, with these I can providing I touch up.

liquid lipstick is something similar to lipstains. I don’t like them much mainly because the majority of them are very drying on the lips

Would the L’Oreal Hip Liquid Lipcolors fit this category? I say they are. Too opaque to be a gloss, but it still comes in a tube/liquid form. Well, love love love love love. They’re so smooth. They never dry out my lips. The red (Turbulent) is just gorgeous. I really just wish they had some brighter, more summery colors. That’s the only complaint I have. I adore all the shades I have.

I only have the Chanel Rouge Allure Lacque but it works like magic on me! The downside is you can’t just blot it on or apply it light handed with like a lipstick.

Min Avatar

Really? I find myself blotting all the time if I want a stain and then applying a gloss straight over! If I want it a little lighter I put a dab on then either use a brush or my finger to spread it out.

Nicole Avatar

They’re okay. Because of the liquid texture I find that some of them are hard to apply without getting a streaky look. I do prefer a doe foot applicator over a brush (this goes for gloss too – I HATE that some glosses are going with a brush, IMO liquid stuff doesn’t work well with a brush like lipstick does, makes it even streakier) I also find them a little messy, but it really depends on the brand/formula/color. Really they just seem like opaque gloss to me, not something I use much.

Most of these are so drying, I just can’t wear them. A whole layer of my lips comes off within half an hour when I wear the Revlon Colorstay one and I’ve heard that’s one of the nicer ones. =/
