Rant & Rave: Becca
Tell us what you love and hate about...
Becca
They seem to be a brand that really stays in their lane; they don’t go too far outside of their comfort zone, which is good in the sense that it seems authentic and on-brand, but at the same time, their offerings can feel rather repetitive over time. I really love that they’ve been particularly inclusive in advertising and shade ranges for a very, very long time.

I really only have two real issues with Becca. The first is, I really wish they would reconsider using so much petroleum byproducts, particularly in powder products. As much as I love the many Becca highlighters that I own, I can’t wear them as often as I’d like. The second, which is probably a bit petty on my part, but I wish they wouldn’t collab with such problematic people. While it doesn’t affect the individual product(s) directly, it kind of cheapens the brand as a whole. For some reason, i just don’t believe those who collaborated with Becca had much say in the products, and had Becca just released them under the brands name, I may have been more willing to purchase them…
Love the colors, pigmentation, and style. Hate how almost nothing is formulated for mature women. “Wanna see my wrinkles? Let me highlight them for you.”
I don’t really have any rants as far as Becca is concerend, but I do agree that their products are a bit predictable. How many of the same things can we buy? Obviously they didn’t know at the time that collaborating with a certain influencer would be as problematic as it was. I’m hoping they come out with something new and different for the holiday season!
Rave – the brand does bring out excellent highlighters and blushes
Rant – their products are on the expensive side and they haven’t really branched out successfully into other makeup products eg eyeshadows.
They have quality products, I love most of what I have tried from them. My only complaint is that they recycle the same shades over and over again in LE cheek palettes or collabs. I have the highlighter shade Moonstone as a single and in 2 other palettes. I wish the LE and Holiday releases included more than just one new color and introduced several or had the option to buy the new color as a single.
Rave – Beautiful highlighters ofc. Overall, their brand is pretty consistent, and I feel like I can generally be confident in the quality of their new releases.
Becca makes some of my favorite highlighters. Dreamsicle, Prosecco Pop and Champagne Pop to name a few. I also like their Brightening undereye powder and Glow glosses. I think they could do better with their eye shadows.
I appreciate the brand’s focus, and on the whole doing well with it. I prefer that than so many brands that try to be all things and have consistent misses in key categories.
I absolutely ADORE the Shimmering Skin Perfectors and they’ve become a collection of their own for me. I will almost always buy a new skin perfector when it’s released so long as my light/light-med skin can actually wear it. As an extension I also love their blushes. I’ve tried their foundations and primers, but nothing has really wow’d me like their highlighters and blushes.
Don’t know anything about Becca, except that I have the green powder highlighter and the creamy opal one. They’re nice. There’s nothing like the green one that I’ve seen anywhere, and it looks good and wears well. So … overall positive impression, I guess.
