Prom 2008: Pale and Pastel Yellow Dresses and Makeup
One of my favorite colors, especially on deeper skintones, is this shade of pale yellow; it’s not too sallow nor too bright. It has just enough oomph to bring out your natural glow, while still being quite spring/summery. If you want to go big, try an eye that has primary yellow on the lid–you can match this with oranges, pinks, and even greens. For some coordinating, but much more subtle, try a pale yellow eye with colors like Nylon, Going Bananas, Goldmine, etc. Go for a pale yellow lid with a darker gray or black in the crease for a subtle smoky eye. I like coral lips for this look, or maybe pale peach lips, too. Keep cheeks in line with your look–avoid bright corals if your eyes are dolled up. Love peachy and coral-toned blushes like Margin and Springsheen.
Check out suggested looks: one, two, & three. Dress is available at Nordstrom.com for $340.
Hey Cristine,
WOWWWWWW!!BEAUTIFUL DRESSS!!i luveur second eye,i think it shud remain simple and elegant rather than tooo colours.I also luv this yellow its one of my top picks!
Zzainy..
I agree! I wish I had an occasion to buy a dress like this for!
love the first eye 🙂
yellow is a very nice colour, but as an asian with the whole yellow-ish undertone makes just ‘yellow’ a not-so-good colour.. so i tend to stick with the oranges.
still, i agree with you, on darker skin tones they look gorgeous!!!
Hey Viv!
Thanks 🙂 Maybe you have to just find the right shade of yellow, because let me tell you – some shades (like Chrome Yellow) are horrid on me!
oh no! the 3rd link didn’t work for me :[
but i love this post!
Oh no! It should work now, Renee! Thanks!
I love the yellow with the pinks. I have a wedding soon, and i’m searching for a dress.. i think i’m going to seek out something this color now. *smiles*
Thanks.
Me too! I adore pinks with yellows, but I have a soft spot for pale/pastel yellows (but nothing too bright!).
I love the dress and the eye color really makes her skin pop. Love this look.
I love this dress, too! 😀
Oh, how I love yellow on other people. Being fair-haired and -skinned, I have to hit the most pale yellow dead-on for it not to look dead on me. I love how you combined the makeup with the color. I am passing this onto my darker-toned friend. Thanks.
I have to be careful about the yellow I pick, too! It sucks.
hi… im a sophomore and going to mmiltary ball again this year for jrotc. since im a master sergeant i have to sit at the main table facing everyone. im wearing a knee kength yellow dress (same shade as the one above) with white heels. im going to curl my hair and place a white bow in it. im not a fan of makeup but i wanna wear something to make the dress pop, should i wear gold eyeshadow or just simply gold mascara? thank you for your help… ball is april 17th, 2010 so i would like advice by then.
Hi Irene,
If you are not a fan of makeup, definitely go subtle and wear just a bit 🙂 I’d go with a little gold in the crease, maybe a bronzy-brown in the creas with some shimmery lipgloss.
