The formula is supposed to have more "depth" in the "base tone" and specifically designed to work for deeper skin tones in the way that the more transparent Iridescent Multichrome finish does. They are supposed to have a "tanned base."
While other Multichromes may require more specific application or technique, the brand says that this formula can be used "the same way you would" apply any "highlight or shadow."
The consistency has a denser, smoother feel that wasn't too firm, so I had no trouble picking up product with eyeshadow or highlighter brushes (without having to wet the brush). We always want to create products that are as inclusive as possible, and while regular white-based iridescent shadows look beautiful on so many skin tones, we realize that no matter how transparent the base is, they can leave a white cast if they are built up too much.
