Pretty, but not unique. I’m sure the shadows are great but seem pretty dupable from her other palettes
Agreed. Unless the eyeshadow magically puts itself on my eyes without me having to do any work then this price is not worth it. I am very happy with the formulas I own in these shades (and I have more than one dupe for each) already so I’m not tempted to try a more expensive brand.
Valerie
That blitz violet orchid color is perfection. The look you did with it is simply stunning! Two gorgeous looks from a palette = minimum A- rating from Christine ?Astral solstice will pull the rating down, it looks so sheer. But I’m buying. Well, I was going to buy anyway as I collect all her palettes but DEFINITELY buying now! Soooooooo beautiful. This is how a palette should be done.
Valerie
This is where I predicted the A-, with the astral solstice pulling the rating down (which apparently it did with a C+ a/o Sep 8). It’s so telling that we can tell this stuff just based on how well Christine swatches the products, without even seeing the palette.
I second this! Those I’d even maybe splurge on her singles prices for too… they are what I want all the pallets for but the other things are too dupey to get all of them.
Megan
Agreed! Those shades are always so unique and beautiful. I wear at least one every day, no matter what other shadows I’m using!
I won’t buy anymore PMG until the brand confirms that they are 100% cruelty free (yes, their website says they are which is why I had purchased in the past, but there is no confirmation of that from any of the accredited sources). I have sent multiple e-mails to PMG Customer Service to please clarify and confirm their stance, but I have not received a response. It’s been my experience that cruelty-free brands state their status clearly and/or have the cruelty-free logo on their products (PMG does not).
In addition to my own personal ethical reasons for not purchasing this, dare I say this palette is a big yawn. The colors swatch differently than they appear in the pan, and look like they are repeats from other PMG palettes. Besides, I know I have dupes from other brands (thanks for the Dupes tab, Christine!) that are most definitely cruelty-free.
Finally, based on my past experience with PMG palettes, I’m really not impressed with the product — at least not $125 impressed. I’ve had this happen before with another luxury brand that everyone loved, but alas, was not my cup of tea.
Before I bought the foundation, I contacted them about whether they sell on the ground in China and they confirmed that they did not. I believe their policy says that they test if required by law, but I took in good faith that they were not selling in any place that did require testing. Of course that could change at any time so I will need to keep. close watch. I did buy the foundation and I love it, but I don’t plan to buy any other products. I ended up decluttering the one palette I bought and the mascara and eyeliner pencil are okay but not singular.
Christina D.
Thank you for that, Lesley! I’m still hesitant to purchase from them anymore because of that “required by law” stipulation. None of the sources I trust considers PMG cruelty-free either. If that changes, I’ll reconsider.
I haven’t yet pulled the trigger on one of her big palettes and was thinking about this one because I really liked the colour assortment. Looking at the swatches, I’m not sure that there are enough unique shades to justify the $170 price tag in Canada. At least it’s permanent, so I have time to think about it.
I feel the same – it’s just too pricey here (even in the States, I think it’s awfully pricey) for what it is and for shades I can readily dupe with what I already have. Factor in 2 shades I’d never use and one or 2 others that would get limited usage from me and it’s not a good deal at all, no matter which way I look at it.

Such a stunning palette; that moss green shade is divine! Relieved that it’s permanent. Definitely buying.
Pretty! I originally wasn’t interested in the palette, but seeing the looks you did on both eyes changed my mind. I like that you have options with this palette and that it can go from subtle and natural, to earthy, to a fun pop of blue/lavender. While maybe not as unique and interesting as the other mothership palettes because of the lack of the colour shifting astral shade, I think this one will still prove very versatile.

I was really hoping the swatches for this palette would wow me, because the product photos weren’t moving me… this confirms that this palette will be a hard pass for me. Aside from Astral Violet and maybe Blood Moon the rest of the palette is super dupeable and not especially exciting. That Wicked Envy shade is beautiful too, but at such a high price point I would like to see something more unique and special. I love the looks you created with this though!
Sarah
Well, on the plus side I can count this as a Christmas gift to myself…if I can wait that long…?
Devz
What are you wearing on your lips? The color and finish looks amazing!
Those eye looks have me SOLD on this as a contender! Very unusual array of shades to find together in an eyeshadow palette. I honestly didn’t think they’d work together until just now! I’m also very pleased to hear that this is a permanent palette, so no FOMO for me. This can wait until later on, possibly the next Sephora Rouge sale.
I ordered it as soon as it went live – I was taking care of a few clerical things and checked my email and there was the link! I’m looking forward to adding this to my display.

Been wanting to try Pat McGrath’s shadows for so long, she seems such a cool lady too, and this is the first palette I think I will use enough to justify buying it, even though I have plenty of shadow already.it was love at first sight and when I saw her inspiration I knew this was my palette. After trying to be frugal for 10 months I will endulge :).
I’m glad to see Wicked Envy is more green that it appeared in PML’s swatches. It’s a pretty palette, but I’m underwhelmed. I most likely won’t get this one, as it’s basically a warm neutral palettes with a couple pops of color (albeit beautiful colors). Maybe if Vermillion Venom had been a true red, and the ubiquitous gold shade had been a matte green, then I would have been more interested.
Heather
I normally love her palettes but this one doesn’t excite me that much. The only shade I really want is Blood Moon. Your looks are beautiful though Christine.
So pretty. I like that this is more subdued glam. Kinkysweat’s video on this palette made it look very wearable, but she noted that the four shadows on the right can be challenging since they get sparkles everywhere even if you apply carefully. I have that issue with Pat’s sparkly shadows and it has deterred me from using them as much.
Still on the fence about this one so thankful that it is permanent so I have time to decide. At first glance, I love the shades. There is something so satisfying about the aesthetics of her palettes when they are first opened and are so pristine looking. Sadly, the shades are pretty but easily duped. There pre-requisite gold shade is still there, (enough with the gold, please). This isn’t a stand alone palette which is true for all PMG palettes for me, personally. I love the formula for her shadows but unless there is something more unique, I doubt I will purchase anymore. Not worth it to me to buy for only two or three shades.
Wow that orange purple and champagne really pull me in and look so pretty. Swatches are really disappointing.
I was thinking of this but getting it with rewards as I don’t use the other 2 large and 2 small palettes I own at all. Really tired of her always putting warm Browns and golds in every single palette.
Jubilee, Blitz Violet Opal, and Astral Solstice look especially lovely, but all the other shades seem fairly basic and easily dupable. Probably my least favorite Pat palette so far in terms of shade selection, not worth the price in my opinion.
I like the look of this palette, but it is starting to look like some of her other’s – with a variety of cool and warm shades contained in it. What puts me off, apart from the price, is the red shade Venom, Dusk and Taboo – shades I would definitely not use. I do like Bronze Eclipse, Wicked Envy and Jubilee, but I think I already have those shades in my stash.
Your eye looks are just stunning Christine, really beautiful.
Z
I don’t think I care for this palette, BUT if I could swap out Astral Solstice, Taboo, and Vermilion Venom with some of the shades I disliked from the Bronze Seduction palette, that’d be cool.
I’m getting this for sure. I really love her sparkle and shimmer and Blood Moon looks like a perfect copper shimmer. I also love Bronze Eclipse, Wicked Envy and the two lighter shades. The Violet Orchid looks great!
Being this is permanent I can wait for 20% even though hubby is saying go for it now. Maybe I’ll get a coupon in the mail as others are saying they are getting.

If she put out a palette full of the VR/Astral shades from her other palettes, I’d snap that up in a heartbeat.
I second this! Those I’d even maybe splurge on her singles prices for too… they are what I want all the pallets for but the other things are too dupey to get all of them.

I’m just as underwhelmed as the first time I saw it.
Same. Yeah, this doesn’t blow my socks off

I agree, & I checked out the “look details”: Flesh Fatale, Astral Flash Dance

Sad, but I’m more struck by that lip! The eyeshadow palette seems underwhelming to me, but what is on your lips???
Forget the eyeshadows, I can’t stop staring at your gorgeous hair!!! So mesmerizing!
I like the look of this palette, but it is starting to look like some of her other’s – with a variety of cool and warm shades contained in it. Damn it! I wasn’t interested in this at all but now seeing the swatches and the gorgeous looks you created I’m having second thoughts.
Do not need, will get regardless because GORGEOUS!
I’m 99.9% sure I can dupe this with the bazillion Sydney Grace shades I already have and I don’t even care…
Too similar to other PMG palettes for me to justify the price point.
I’m getting this for sure. I really love her sparkle and shimmer and Blood Moon looks like a perfect copper shimmer. I also love Bronze Eclipse, Wicked Envy and the two lighter shades. The Violet Orchid looks great!
