Pat McGrath Love Collection Swatches
Pat McGrath Love Collection is a new, limited edition collection that features three six-pan eyeshadow palettes along with a new, liquid eyeshadow formula available in seven shades. There are also a couple of lipsticks, which I held off on purchasing, given the breadth of the launch.
It kinda reminds me of Lisa Eldridge collection to be honest 😅😅
The ingredient lists are very, very similar!
Color stories remind me of muse and cinnabar, liquid shadows shadow range feels very inspired by Lisa’s lurex shadows too. It’s of course isn’t one to one copy, but I feel like the inspiration was there 😅
The three eyeshadow palettes look very similar, which is unfortunate, because I have dupes x 10 for all of the shades. The only product in this collection that grabbed by attention is Cosmic Chartreuse. I was a big Pat McGrath fan a few years ago, but her recent collections have been disappointing.
I had such high hopes for Iconic Infatuation, but it’s just…okay, in person. I feel it skews a little more peach than pink. The shadows are noticeably smaller in size than all other PMG palettes I have, too.
Surprised myself by taking a pass on the collection.. largely because I already have a drawer full of PMG and with ND combined.. lots and lots of near enoughs.
Maybe it’s just me but those e/s palettes look like basically all the other e/s palettes she’s released over the years. I do like those liquid shadows, though – the swatches of Twilight Platinum, Platinum Bronze and Cosmic Chartreuse look really “want-able”.
Having viewed quite a few YT video reviews and tutorials on these, I applaud Pat McGrath for making these have rich enough pigmentation and depth that just about everyone can use the palettes and liquid shadows, they lack the oomph and complexity of her previous palettes and such. I thought for sure that I was going to get Iconic Infatuation and Cosmic Chartreuse, at minimum. But I have Gigabyte in Subversive Mothership and the Divine Rose II Mothership, so yeah. Also have Venus In Fleus Voyeuristic Vixen in my cart, which provides what this lacks with more interesting, brilliant shimmery goodness.
I can’t wait for full reviews!!
I feel like the liquid eye shadows are the real stars in this release. Very pigmented and it only takes a little to go a long way. And the sparkle isn’t chunky or gritty at all (haven’t experienced any fallout). I do feel like it’s best to apply them with either a brush versus direct from the applicator or make sure you wipe off the excess from the wand (back in the tube of course) before applying or you will get way too much product and then swear the formula is terrible.
As far as the palettes…they aren’t anything earth shattering BUT they are beautiful with a nice formula. I just think unless you’re new to makeup or you never buy shades in this color story you probably have various dupes in your collection. Definitely not must haves but I don’t think anyone that bought them would be disappointed. The matte one would probably be good as a supplement to other palettes in Pat’s catalog (or other brands) and for use with the liquid eye shadows for sure.
Agree.. took a pass on the palettes, but I am keen on the Platinum Bronze liquid e/s.. especially if it is not chunky/gritty. I hope this collection makes it to Sephora for an easy grab and free shipping.
Does that happen by chance or are they using the same lab?
My understanding is that some labs create innovative formulas and then license them to brands, sometimes allowing A brand to have an exclusivity period of a length of time and then allowing other customers to tweak it. I am surprised to see it between these two brands, though.
They are both British. It’s good chance they do use the same lab. Sorry I missed Lisa Eldridge’s eye shadow palette in Sorcery. But I love her liquid eye shadows.
I really do like the palettes – but I just wish that Pat would make an all shimmer one. Iconic Infatuation is the one I gravitate to the most. Honey Lustre and Bronze Fantasy from the Sublime Seduction quad are stellar shades for me too.
The liquid eyeshadows of Luna Rose and Platinum Bronze are stunning.
I brought the warm toned Sublime Seduction palette. I collect Pat McGraft eye shadows have just about all of them so I really didn’t need this one but I wanted it for a good neutral eye shadow palette for travel. Not that I’m traveling that much, lol. I also got 2 of the liquid eye shadows in Bronze Bijoux and Platinum Bronze.
I wore Iconic Infatuation today and if you own Divine Rose don’t waste your time. It’s an exact dupe with zero special shades. I’ve been really disappointed in the last 2 releases. Pat is no longer on my must buy at launch list.
This is the only release that i am even thinking about buying – i love all three and the only problem is I dont need them all – but I really will get the matte and the sublime – These are perfectly wearable every day
I remember the original 6 pan eyeshadows PMcG did way back, En Vie Rose was my favourite, though I bought all three. These actually remind of those in a way. I did buy the matt Velvet Liaison this time, I just wanted simple matt shades for a change without the ultra shimmer shades. Can, I say I was shocked at how quickly they shipped this time! With Pat, it can be a week or more before it actually ships, I am in the UK/Ireland and once it does ship arrives in 48 hours. Ordered on the Friday, and they shipped on the Sunday and arrived Tuesday. All the shades have great pigment for me.
