Orly Viva Collection for Summer 2010 Review, Photos, Swatches
Orly Nail Lacquer: Ole, La Playa, Bailamos, Fiesta
Orly Viva Collection for Summer 2010
Viva is a short and sweet lacquer collection featuring four bold, summer-ready shades. The formula on all four shades was excellent — thin enough that it wasn’t goopy or hard to work with, but the formula was richly pigmented. You could do just two coats on all of these shades, but I did three because that’s my style 🙂 These were easy to work with and required no trickery or playing around to get a smooth, even application. I also love Orly’s rubber-grip bottles, because it makes it easier for me to hold onto the polish when applying!
- Ole is a vibrant orange cream with just a hint of redness in it, but it’s still very much an orange. It’s not neon or construction orange, because it’s much, much deeper. This easily goes opaque in two coats, though the swatches feature three.
- La Playa is a darkened navy blue cream. It has a very glossy finish on its own, and it’s quite pigmented. This had the thinnest consistency, but I had no troubles with it. It applied evenly and smoothly, and this one could get nearly opaque with two coats, but I did three just for good measure. It’s a very inky blue.
- Bailamos is a teal-shimmered turquoise-blue. This is exactly what I think of when it comes to summer–lots and lots of aqua, teal, and turquoise. Two coats and it’s opaque, but the swatches are with three, for reference.
- Fiesta is a bright medium pink with iridescent pink sparkle. It’s a fun, totally-pefect-pink for summer kind of shade. I think this would look particularly fitting on summer toes.

Love those colors! Bailamos kinda reminds me of Ghina Glaze Turned up Turquoise.
Bailamos reminds me of Orly It’s Up to Blue. It’s a really pretty color. I think Fiesta needs to come home to me 🙂
eh…Bailamos & Ole stand out the most to me but I can pass on Fiesta & La Playa.
I WANT ALL OF THEM!! I love Orly nail polish for the pigmentation and formula. I’m glad it’s just 4 colors coming out this time otherwise I’d be broke!
Your skin tone is perfect for Ole! Jealous!
Thanks, JD!
hooooooot shades
is this available now?
May!
I like the blue one, it’s gorgeous. 🙂
Ole, Fiesta and Bailamos is right down my alley. I didn’t expect to like the Ole but the muted creamy tangerine is very cute and pink is just a classic for me during spring and summer.
Christine what nailpolish remover are you using?
My nails are always really dry and affected after removing my polish.
thanks in anticipations ;).
I use Zoya’s Remove+!
By far, my fave ORLY collection. I NEED it!
OMG! La Playa is amazing! I love navy blues right now!
I love La Playa. It is so beautiful!
I NEED Bailamos! Okay maybe not ‘need’ but that’s possibly my all time favorite color and having that shade in a nail polish is awesome 🙂 I really like Fiesta and La Playa too 🙂
um wow i actually kind of love these!
These are sooo nice and I love the names.
Went to Sally’s today. I did not find the new
polishes but I did buy 3 new polishes @ buy 2 get
1 free sale. I love the La Playa and Fiesta. Gotta
have them:)
I love fiesta and ole!
love that la playa if you ever do a nail laker (international) give away or is gonna stay unused keep me in mind 🙂
Love that inky blue 🙂
bailamos&fiesta are loveeeeeeeee! :]
I really like Bailamos, but originally I just wanted it because the name makes me giggle! (It makes me think of the Enrique Iglesias song)
😛
I like these colors but they don’t seem to be very unique, especially Bailamos. I have about 3 of this color (obviously I’m very drawn to this color!).
Hi Christine!
Thanks so much for doing this! I noticed that in your nailpolish reviews you have extremely beautiful shiny nails! How do you achieve this? Do you use any special top coats/base coats? do you mind telling me your “regimen”?
Thanks a bunch!
Hi MK,
I typically use Zoya’s Color Lock System — it has a base, top, and drying coat as well as a remover. I love all the products in it. 🙂 I don’t really use any other nail products beyond those, and I use Jo Malone soap (primarily) to wash my hands. I try to use a hand cream, but I’m pretty terrible about doing it regularly!
Those look amazing!! And Ole looks freaking exceptional on you – I wish I could pull that color off..
Quick question: I don’t know if you remember but MAC had a blue nail polish in 2004 – Blue Tips. Can you perhaps guess how close Bailamos is to that color? Also is La Playa a dupe for China Glaze Bermuda Breakaway? Both seem to have similar color and jelly-ness 🙂
I’m really not sure — I remember the name of the polish (Blue Tips) you’re talking about, but I never owned it so I can’t compare 🙁 I also don’t have Bermuda Breakaway either!
