OCC Lament Lip Tar Review, Photos, Swatches
OCC Lament Lip Tar
OCC Lament Lip Tar ($18.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “neutral rose beige.” It’s a light-medium, muted orange–not quite peach, not quite true orange, and it’s not as bright as you might expected. Melt Cosmetics Summer! (P, $19.00) is brighter. MAC Enchanted One (LE, $16.00) is pinker. Too Faced Melted Nude (P, $21.00) is more muted, more beige. MAC Close Contact (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Givenchy Beige Mousseline (101) (P, $36.00) is slightly darker. MAC Antonio’s Girls (LE, $16.00) is pinker. NARS Biscayne Park (P, $25.00) is darker. MAC Wholesome (LE, $16.00) is yellower. MAC Nearly Nude (LE, $16.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The consistency was thin but not watery, easy to spread but didn’t feather or bleed along the edge of the natural lip line, and it felt like most Lip Tars do (and I only note this since two of the six fall shades were a little runny). It had excellent color payoff that yielded full color coverage with little product, and the color itself stayed on well for almost six hours before starting to break down. It was neither drying nor hydrating on me, and it didn’t feel clingy, so it was pretty comfortable to wear.

I like this colour!
Yay!
SIX hours? Do you not move? Haha I just cant seem to make ANY lip product to stay more than, say, two hours? I scratch my lower lip on my front teeth for one, and then I drink and eat. Any tips maybe for stayinigpower?
Most lipsticks last between three and four hours for me, but Lip Tars are a long-wearing formula in general as they’re so pigmented and less emollient (they don’t slip around or transfer 100% onto your cup)! The big tip I learned was not to lick/bite lips, as that can really bring down wear!
I’m sure this color would look great on others, but I don’t think it would work on my skin tone. 🙂
I hope to see this shade on some darker skin tones!
Agreed!
I like this way more than I thought I would! It’s lovely!
So glad you liked it, Justine!
I really like how this looks on you!
Thanks, Fancie!
not at all what I expected.. weird description.. not rose beige to me, but shrug… pass.
Yeah, I don’t really see rose in it!
I am impressed with the smoothness of the coverage in this (as a white-based shade)! 😀 It is not a colour I could even dream of wearing, but I think it looks pretty spiffy on you as a nude lip!
Me too! It applied really well.
I have been wanting a liquid lipstick by Sweetpea & Fay called Beluga that reminds me of this a little! (Or maybe it is closer to Melt Summer!) I like the idea of this being more accessible and with reviews though.
Accessibility really counts for something!
Aww I expected this one to be a bit darker than it is on you. I have a hard time finding nudes that don’t make me look completely washed out…oh well the hunt continues!
Good luck on your quest, Diana! Have you tried something like MAC Taupe?
Nope, definitely have not tried that one. It looks kind of similar to MAC Touch…although different finish entirely but that’s probably a good thing since lustres last like 2 seconds on me. Will definitely have to try this one! Thanks Christine!
Just wanted to say THANK YOU! I picked up Taupe like 3 weeks ago and I pretty much fell in love with it. It’s got enough red or pink, idk something so it looks nude but doesn’t make me look dead. I keep gravitating towards it every morning so it’s just chilling in my purse. Thanks!
Aw, happy to help! 😀
it’s so similar with Granma+Cha Cha my fav combination!
Fun combo! 🙂
This is a stunning colour! It would probably look disgusting on me though 😛
I can see it being a harder shade to wear for some! It’s an unusual mix of undertones/tone.
WANT!
Yay!
Not a colour for me, but I think it’s very pretty. A lot prettier than I thought it would be from looking at the tube.
I like how smooth it looked on lips!
Beautiful color. Would you say this is similar to the lip tar in Hush? Or is it peachier in person? Sometimes it’s so hard to tell on a computer screen
I think Hush is pinker?
Very 60’s. I like it on you though. I’d be tempted to top it with Peachstock or something.
Thank you, Erin!
I really like the color! Not sure if I can carry it off, but I’m going to give it a try! Thanks.
No prob, Trish!
