NYX Spice Cake, Toasted Marshmallow, Tres Leches Intense Butter Glosses Reviews, Photos, Swatches
NYX Spice Cake Intense Butter Gloss
NYX Spice Cake Intense Butter Gloss ($5.99 for 0.27 fl. oz.) is a brightened, medium-dark berry with cool undertones and a cream finish. It had rich, opaque color coverage that applied beautifully with even, smooth color. On me, it lasted for almost five hours and left behind a slight stain. The formula was comfortable to wear but not hydrating. Urban Decay Quiver (P, $22.00) is lighter, warmer. Milani Ravish Raspberry (06) (P, $5.49) is lighter, warmer. Milani Berry Tempting (05) (P, $5.49) is lighter, less pigmented, warmer. Maybelline Amethyst Potion (045) (P, $8.99) is more shimmery, lighter, less pigmented. Urban Decay Big Bang (P, $19.00) is more shimmery, darker, less glossy. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
NYX Toasted Marshmallow Intense Butter Gloss ($5.99 for 0.27 fl. oz.) is a deepened, medium-dark plum with cool undertones and a cream finish. It had good color payoff that went on smoothly and evenly, though this one emphasized lip lines just a smidgen. The color wore well for four and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Ruby (LE, $20.00) is lighter, less glossy. Revlon Embellished (P, $7.49) is warmer. Marc Jacobs Beauty Fame (206) (P, $28.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
NYX Tres Leches Intense Butter Gloss ($5.99 for 0.27 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, pinky-peach with warm undertones and a cream finish. This shade seemed extra glossy to me compared to others in the range. It had mostly opaque pigmentation, but the milkiness of the gloss seemed to make it prone to pulling into lip lines, and it did settle into them further as the gloss wore on (for four hours). It did apply better than a lot of similar-hued glosses do, though. MAC Boy Bait (P, $20.00) is lighter. Buxom Creamsicle (P, $19.00) is cooler. NARS Giza (P, $26.00) is warmer. MAC On the Scene (LE, $20.00) is lighter. Divergent Supreme Ritual (LE, ) is lighter, warmer. MAC Summer Sweetheart (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Divergent Natural Virtue (LE, ) is warmer. MAC Poetic (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter. MAC Chic Supremacy (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Bardot Beige (P, $22.00) is lighter, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Formula Summary: NYX Intense Butter Gloss ($5.99 for 0.27 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a very pigmented gloss that “keeps lips soft and glossy without being sticky.” They are typically very pigmented, but some shades apply better than others; when they apply well, they’re really a great option for anyone who likes their gloss more pigmented. They have a medium-weight consistency that is heavier than the original Butter Gloss formula with light tackiness that develops over time. It’s not hydrating but not usually drying either. The gloss wears four hours on me on average, and the formula has a slight vanilla scent to me, but it seems a little synthetic (something off about it) but had no discernible taste to me.

Tres Leches is the kind of color I always want to work on me, but it just never does!
Aww 🙁 Maybe pair it with different eyes/cheeks?
Maybe it would work mixed or layered over a color that does work for you.
All of these look very pretty on you! I really like Toasted Marshmallow on you though
Thank you, Fancie!
I like Spice Cake best, though Marshmallow looks pretty good, too.
I’ve heard raves about the Butter Glosses, but I have yet to try one.
Spice Cake may be my first …
I like the Intense ones more, but I really like glosses that go on evenly and a lot of the regular Butter Glosses can be a little streaky.
I have Spice Cake and it is one of my fave glosses ever!
It’s gorgeous!
Interesting, Spice Cake looks magenta pink here, but it pulls more purple on me
I like Toasted Marshmallow! The nude one looks worthwhile to check out.
I think they’re worth a look-see!
These are such great glosses. I found myself loving Tres Leches a lot more than I thought I would. It’s turned out to be a great nude shade for me.
Love it when a shade surprises you!
I just love how richly pigmented and lush looking these Intense Butter Glosses are! And that they last quite awhile on the lips is fantastic, too. I really like all 3 shades here. Especially Toasted Marshmallow and Spice Cake. Tres Leches I would have to first fill in with lip pencil, because I have pigmented lips which could look make it look off.
Me too! They’re really opaque for the most part!
I NEED all 3 shades!!! lol
Haha ;D
Wow, these look so good on you! I was a little skeptical about this release because I had issues with the original butter gloss, but now I think I’m going to have to pick some up.
What were your issues with the original? Maybe I can let you know if these will be better 😀
I had problems with it pulling into lip lines. I see that the tres leches shade is doing that a little for you here, but nowhere near like I had with the old version. Can’t wait to get a few of these, your swatches (as always) are super helpful!
About half of the Intense line is definitely better about that, though there are a few that are more prone to it (Banana Split is one I remember) 🙂
I have and love both Spice Cake and Toasted Marshmallow!
Nice 😀
I may be forced to try those! 🙂
I’d love Toasted Marshmallow in a matte or satin lipstick formula.
I bet you could find something similar!
NYX’s shade names amuse me sometimes… I have never seen a toasted marshmallow quite that color!
It’s very pretty though.
Haha, that is true 😉
Any suggestions for a lipstick that resembles Toasted Marshmallow? It’s gorgeous, but I’ve stopped wearing gloss (embracing the fact I really do prefer lipstick and never wear my glosses).

Toasted Marshmallow, yeeeeeeessssssssss!
Gorgeous, I like Spice Cake a lot too. Maybe I’ll get both… 🙂
Spice Cake!!
I like the look of Tres Leches 🙂 Out of the three that one is most ‘me’. But I’m a fan of the Butter Gloss formula in general.
Nice! 🙂
I like all three but not sure TL would work for me.
At least two of three would!
