Nubar 2010: Layer ’til Your Heart’s Content

Nubar 2010 ($7.49) is a clear base with glitter flakies suspended in the thick, colorless base.   The flakes are different sizes, and it’s definitely something designed to be worn on top of your favorite polishes rather than alone (but no worries, I showed it alone, as well).  It flashes a greenish-gold, fiery-gold, orange, and green, depending on how the light hits it and how much you use.  I just used one coat of Nubar 2010 over two coats of other polishes.  I picked polishes with cream finishes, rather than shimmery ones, and other than that, I just grabbed ones nearest to me.  It’s easy to use, as it applies smoothly while dispersing the flakies pretty evenly without  trouble!

For reference:

  • Thumb = Nubar 2010
  • Pointer = SpaRitual Solaris + Nubar 2010
  • Middle = SpaRitual Color Trip + Nubar 2010
  • Ring = SpaRitual Dreams Becoming Reality + Nubar 2010
  • Pinky = OPI Who the Shrek Are You? + Nubar 2010

It reminds me of the GOSH nailpolish I tested on Sunday, it’s called Rainbow someting and looks almost identical. I’m still sporting it on my thumb and I think I will get it next time I go shopping. 🙂

I love the effect on your ring finger best – the orange “flakies” (that made me smile reading it haha) show up really prettily against the dark bluish colour :]

I have to have this!!! Where can you get this in the U.S.? Nubar’s website says “under construction” in the U.S. Distributors tab.

I found it at Walgreens! Yeah! I have it over a peachy color and it’s beautiful. I also tried it over a deep blue on my toes and it looks completely different, but still pretty.

Yay!!!! I have been wanting to get this polish with flakies, I layer everything, I can’t wear just one polish at a time… Thanks for the beautiful swatches….I kinda hoped that the MAC Superglasses had a finish with the flakies similar to this but of course for the lips.

This is around 7-8 dollars. It’s just shipping and handling that make it more expensive, but to drive out and find hidden treasure isn’t easy either. The gas money is probably just slightly less than the s&h in this case.

This post convinced me to go and buy it! I layered it over For Audrey by China Glaze. It’s very pretty! Not as BAM! as a darker nail polish, but a subtle difference that catches people’s eye.

I agree! I wish shipping was a bit more reasonable because I sometimes don’t have all the nail polishes I want in mind. I try ebay a lot which surprisingly works out pretty well. Faster shipping and price is pretty reasonable, it’s just not as safe. D: everything has it’s draw backs.

Oh got so many comments on my nails. My favorite one: Ohhh you’re nails look like sparkly teal dino eggs. XD Thanks for doing this post!

I just bought the Sally Hansen Hidden Treasures. I tried it on different polishes, and found it works best with white and blue.
