Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2021: What I Purchased + Recommendations

Mellan showcasing the UGG Whistler blanket!

Every year, I share some of the things that have caught my eye at Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale, both products I’ve loved and purchased in the past as well as what I’m considering purchasing this year. There’s not much I really have an eye on this year, though, so it’s mostly old favorites/repurchases for me. The sale feels a little underwhelming to me, but I’d love to hear what’s caught your eye/exciting you!

Edit: Now that I’ve received my orders, I thought I’d share what I actually purchased in the end and what I’m loving/returning.

  • 1.STATE Back Twist Knit Top for $38.90 (regularly $59) — I got this in Amber Rust, which is a beautiful, deep red-copper, but did not like the fit on me.
  • 1.STATE Surplice Sleeveless Top for $29.90 (regularly $49) — I bought one in Black and Ruby Plume, but they ran a little short (possibly I got too small, so I ordered a size up and will see).
  • Caslon Rounded V-Neck T-Shirt for $12.90 (regularly $19) — a style I’ve purchased and repurchased over the years, so I bought two new colors and kept them
  • GibsonLook V-Neck Fleece Top for $29.90 (regularly $49) — I bought one in Toasted Almond, and it is a relaxed fit without being super loose, cozy and soft while being thinner. For me, that works because it’s perfect for wearing around the house and popping outside for a few minutes (to take Winnie out), even though it’s 100+ degrees outdoors. I liked this one enough that I purchased another in grey.
  • True Body Triangle Convertible Strap Bralette for $28.90 (regularly $44) — picked up a beige and pink shade, keeping (have these in other colors)
  • True Body V-Neck Bralette for $31.90 (regularly $49) –picked up a beige and pink shade, keeping (have these in other colors)
  • UGG Whistler Throw Blanket for $64.90 (regularly $98) — I ended up getting two, one in Brown Mustard, which is the most beautiful, cozy fall kind of color, and Quartz. Love these so much!

Recommendations: Clothes

  • BP Comfy Top for $24.90 (regularly $39) — if you are looking for moderate warmth and soft, plush coziness, these tops are really comfy. There are coordinating Joggers for $24.90 (regularly $39) and Shorts for $15.90 (regularly $29).
  • Caslon Rounded V-Neck T-Shirt for $12.90 (regularly $19) — will pick up a few more colors for the fall season
  • Natori Bliss Perfection Bra for $44.90 (regularly $68) — if I wear underwire, this is the one! I have enough, and the pandemic has made me embrace bralettes, haha!
  • Nordstrom Moonlight Pajamas for $42.90 (regularly $65) — I have enough sets myself, but I gift these all the time (my mom and sister love them) (the shorts set, $29.90, regularly $49, is also great)
  • True Body Triangle Convertible Strap Bralette for $28.90 (regularly $44) — I have this in black (fits true to size), likely will get one in a lighter shade
  • True Body V-Neck Bralette for $31.90 (regularly $49) — I really find these comfortable with better-than-average support for a bralette, so I will definitely get another, possibly two.
  • Wit & Wisdom Jeans — I purchased a pair recently, so I don’t think I’ll be buying any this sale season, but these are my favorite jeans and have been for awhile.

Recommendations: Home

  • Nordstrom Hydrocotton Bath Towels for $19.90 (regularly $29) — these are all the towels we have in the house! They’re plush, medium-weight, hold their softness fairly well, and dry well.
  • UGG Coastline Throw Blanket for $64.90 (regularly $98) — I have three or four of these, and I’ve gifted half a dozen of them. Everyone loves! They are thicker than the Whistler with more of a two-sided feel.
  • UGG Whistler Throw Blanket for $64.90 (regularly $98) — I also have a few of these, and they are a little lighter-weight but still soft and cozy, so sometimes I prefer this over the Coastline when I’m running hot or it is in the warmer season. I will be picking up one or two, and then I might gift a couple for Christmas.

I always stock up on a couple pairs of Wit & Wisdom jeans during the Anniversary Sale. They are so comfy for jeans and really hold everything in. I will also stock up on the Paula’s Choice BHA exfoliant jumbo bottle. The one I bought last year is finally empty, just in time. The full size Living Proof sets also caught my eye. Other than that, I am kind of disappointed over the lack of new items, there’s a lot of repeats in the handbags from last year! I always look forward to reading your thoughts on the Anniversary Sale. Thanks for a great round up.

I agree! They are comfy, have good stretch but don’t stretch out TOO much TOO quickly. I also like that they are a lower price point (relative to jeans at Nordstrom), so they are easier to replace/get different styles or washes without spending too much.

I normally find myself drawn to a pair of Tory Burch shoes, but alas… so little this year!

I know they add throughout but i don’t see much I’m drawn to. A lot of good staples that i have gotten in the past i still recommend: barefoot circle cardigans & blankets, blank nyc jackets, Zella leggings, lash serums, bifacil duo.
I am still WFH so I don’t know how many clothes i plan on buying. Right now my wishlist consists of the Zella joggers (love these to lounge or sleep in), this years blanknyc (not that i need another lol but jackets got more use from me last year over actual coats since i wasn’t waiting for trains commuting to work), another barefoot blanket (maybe lol!?), frame denim, a restock on neulash serum. Also eyeing pikolinos boots & p448 sneakers but wondering if these might be on sale closer to the holidays.

Agree , probably better for my wallet to not be enticed by the drips of items sprinkled later on.
The joggers are thinner than the original live in leggings, lightweight. Best IMO for warmer weather and Zella leggings for colder months. I’m in NY but if you’re on the west coast joggers could probably work all year round.

Not so much this year – I usually stock up on Boss suiting during the sale, as well as a nice pair of shoes. I’ll probably get a Chantelle bra to replace the one I bought last year that a family member put in the dryer and killed (sniff), along with the L’Occitane hand cream kit, the Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift set, the Omorovicza set, and possibly a perfume tester set. I’m on the fence about Lancome Bi-Facil. I usually buy the set in the sale, but the price has gone up, I still have a full jumbo container, and it’s been othering my eyes a bit lately after years of uneventful use. I may need to find a new go to 🙁

Was it maybe $60 last year ? I always debate on this set or to get it at a later date, especially now I’m wearing makeup 2x/ wk it lasts much longer. Also if you get the 13.5oz on a 20% sale it’s about the same and you can price match at nordies.

I’m a little underwhelmed by the sale as well. It’s most likely because I shop it every year and they tend to have the same brands (and products) on sale every year. Longchamp tote, Creme de Corps, Barefoot Dreams robe, etc

My wish list includes Bombas socks, the Charlotte Tilbury face palette, the Tom Ford rose eye quad, and Zella jogging pants.

I had been eyeing those ugg throws but went with the barefoot dreams last year. Usually I buy the $100 Macy ones when they go on sale for $30.

It does make a good universal gift for everyone I know!

I usually get socks a slip pillow case duo not so much makeup some of those copper cups touted as wine glasses. The last sock I got sucked. May get more slip love them.

Nordstrom Canada IS doing the sale, just later. The preview starts on Monday July 19th and shopping is the following week, day depends on your Nordy level. I just hope we get the same items – Canada usually has a smaller selection.
