Do you change the application order of your makeup products based on type of look?

Yes, definitely! While I normally do eye makeup first, then base makeup, if I’m not going to do much on the eyes, then sometimes I’ll do the base first.

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I am a creature of habit.
I have never done my eyes first, I just can’t see how I could do all that eye work than make sure my foundation is properly blended around my eyes without muddying the shadows?
Unless I forget a step and have to go back it’s:
primer; concealer; foundation; under-eye powder set; liquid highlighter to nose forehead, cheekbones and upper lip; contour of cheekbones, jaw, nose and forehead; bronzer; blush; setting powder (luminous generally in summer) only on dry (not atop cream blush for example) areas; eyeshadow if using; setting spray; brow gel; wing liner (if doing); powder highlight (if doing); final setting spray; mascara; lips.

My order is mostly consistent: foundation, contour, blush, eyebrow pencil (if doing it that day), mascara, eyeshadow. Sometimes will add concealer/ highlight at that point if it seems like my face could use more light. Lipstick’s last.
