Got a sample yesterday, I think this foundation is entirely to oily yet I love it. I used the mineral powder to set and it came out beautiful, can’t wait to take a look around noon today to see where it stands as far as oily. I do have oily skin.

Kt Avatar

The old formula had the same colors. Really at a 15 the NC doesn’t have enough pigment to be all that cool. Should just be 15, not nw or nc really.

Denise Avatar

That’s what I was thinking…finally a foundation for dry skin (all the other foundations from MAC emphasize my dry patches or are very uncomfortable to wear) and now it’s going to be to dark for my very pale skin with pink undertones. I can only hope that NC15 is more neutral than yellow.

xamyx Avatar

While NC15 may be “neutral” enough, it’s still too *dark*. Besides, while I’ve actually liked several formulas in terms of coverage, pigmentation, texture, etc., I find they oxidize on me very quickly, and get even *darker*. That said, I’ll try to pick up a sample.

I’ve been waiting for this re-release since they discontinued it just as I discovered it last summer. I ordered it from the website in NW20 as soon as it was available. Got it yesterday, and as soon as I swatched it, I saw that it was very yellow. And this is the lightest “cool” shade! There is an NC20 and 15. I may have to try one of those. The texture is silky and very moisturizing. That’s why its important to find a winter shade in this one, it will probably be too heavy feeling for summer. Again, too bad, because it has a lot of sunscreen, both chemical and mom chemical. I guess this is why I’ve never owned a MAC foundation, their color scheme has never worked for my skin tone. But for this one, I’d really like it to! Has anyone gotten it in NC 15 or 20? If so, do you think it would work for cooler, fair skin tones?

Lauren Clark Avatar

paler shadeS? it’s only missing the nw15.

the only thing paler you can get is in the studio fix range, and that was JUST added a couple of months ago. They are only doing their most popular shades for now to make sure it even sells ok

verika Avatar

I picked up a few samples. The NC 15 is very pale and very neutral. In principal NC shades is lighter then NW shades and seeing that this particular range is more neutral- why not mix your colour?? Take the NW20 and mix it with the NC 15 (which should actually just be N15,its so neutral). It should give you a beautiful pale colour that suits your skin tone.

vee Avatar

Sounds promising. Especially if it really does work for dry skin.

Looking forward to your review, Christine. That is, if you plan on doing one. 🙂

Janelle Avatar

As a darker complexion I am happy to see darker colors. I know that some are upset about the lack of lighter shades, but when you are dark it is hard to find things! Most of the highlighters and shades are made for the lighter skins… I do hope as time goes on and maybe with demand they will expand on the shade range.

xamyx Avatar

Yet, when MAC does release the rare product exclusively in pale shades, the masses fly off the handle. Now, *we’re* the ones excluded, yet *again* by MAC. I see your perspective, but at the same time, we on the paler end of the spectrum get left out, too.

RR Avatar

Seriously, us darker gals usually have to look far and wide to find a shade that works just right. It’s either you find it’s too dark, or too light. You paler girls have plenty options if it’s not this new foundation, there are other brands out there.

Machostage Avatar

Better yet, not just “there are other brands out there”, how about “there are VIRTUALLY ALL THE OTHER brands out there.” Gosh.

BV Avatar

It can actually be surprisingly difficult to find foundation for *very* pale skin. I’ve spent hours testing foundations from drug store and department store brands and I’ve only found *one* company that makes foundation that matches my skin. Bobbi Brown’s Alabaster shade is the most accurate, though the Porcelain isn’t too far off either. So I either have to pay for Bobbi Brown products (which in Europe, where I live, are *not* cheap) or I do without foundation all together.

Ellen Avatar

I agrree. I cannot wear Bobbi Brown’s light colors because they are too yellow. I feel like the undertones have to be exact or the mismatch is very obvious. I don’t know if that is the case with medium skintones. They may be more forgiving of a less perfect match. But I don’t have medium skin, so I will not speak for those who do. I just don’t think we need to argue about who has the more difficult time finding appropriate products on this venue. We are all here because we are make up lovers! Suffice it to say that it is difficult to find make up shades at either end of the spectrum, either light or dark, and that’s why we’re all here – to learn about new, quality products that may interest us. No one product will fulfill all our dreams! And by the tone of these comments it appears that despite the apparent boom in the sheer number of foundation products out there, the cosmetics industry has still not met the needs of consumers with skintones on the far ends of the spectrum!

Kelly Avatar

What is it with Mac and not having NW15 on their new foundation releases! Grrrr! I love pro longwear and end up having to buy NC15 & NW20 an mixing! At least they released an N18 recently that works for me!

Sugar Avatar

This is why I kind of stopped buying MAC products. They just up the price all the time. So overrated! This looks interesting though. Might try to find someone who has a Pro Card and ride on the discount…

Angela Avatar

I love the Satinfinish too. I picked up 2 extra bottles at the CCO after they discontinued it. It’s definitely my HG. I hope this new version is similar.

blueraccoon Avatar

I don’t have dry skin so this is a pass for me anyway, but where’s NW15 and NW20? Thanks, MAC, for forgetting about us pale cool-toned folks.

AstroD Avatar

Agreed… I ended up tossing mine after barely using it. If the new promo image is anything to go by this won’t have a flattering finish, it seems to enhance pores not diminish them.

traci Avatar

I wish I could use liquid foundations, but they just break me out because of the dimethicone. Will there ever be a great liquid foundation without dimethicone or some silicone in it?? Is that asking too much?

Hadjra Avatar

Hi Christine,

I love your site because you keep me up to date with all the lovely Mac stuff!! Your the best make up blogger. I can’t wait to try this foundation out when it launches.

Christy Cowart Avatar

I’m excited to try this one. I have super dry skin and have never found a MAC formula that works for me. Being ghostly pale myself, I always have to mix my foundations with a skin base anyway so while the shade range is limited, I can make it work…still think I’m going to get a sample first though just in case. It does seem with every product launch, MAC inches their prices up! What is the deal with that??

Lauren Avatar

I feel like their promo photos should be reviewed further – the bottom of this one combined with the way she’s looking down looks..very inappropriate. I thought I was the only one who noticed, but I asked a few friends and they all saw it almost immediately.

Emma Avatar

I didn’t notice at all, I think it’s fairly obvious it’s her shoulder.

The NC15 isn’t very yellow at all, I think it will suit NW15s too. This new formula is gorgeous. I have very oily skin but it blends beautifully and doesn’t enhance my pores at all. It is also very, very, very long-wearing and hydrating!

Jade Avatar

I doubt I’ll find that this foundation works for me, but I’ll grab a sample! I do feel for the NW15 people. It sucks to be left out. I’m NC15, and most foundations are too dark on me, but at least it’s easy to find the right undertone!

Lauren Clark Avatar

Hi Christine, I notice a LOT of people complaining about there not being an NW15. I was able to do a comparison swatch between Studio Fix Fluids NC15, NW15, Sculpt NW15, and the new Mineralize Moisture NC15. I think it’s safe to say that those who normally wear NW15 or even a little lighter can wear the NC15 as it is more pale than the NW15, and is very neutral. Feel free to post this picture to your blog if you’d like. I also have other comparison swatches on my blog (addressed above) if you want to pull from there as well.

Looks like the foundation I was waiting for to give my skin a healthy glow and dewy finish. I’ve used illumination primers in combination with several foundations and setting sprays. MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation may give the same result, without using several products. Can’t wait to try it out..

Ellen Avatar

Just noticed that picture, what an eye (or mind) you have! And thank you Lauren for the swatches, the NC15 does have a more peachy look to it. I noticed after I applied the NW20 for the first time, that after a few minutes, the original color changed. It was as if the yellow faded out and the tone became cooler. That won’t be good if it continues all day long, but it may be a sign that we can’t judge these foundations by a swatch. This may be one that demands a sample good for a few days. I guess I jumped the gun by ordering online ASAP, but I have not had a foundation that I have liked for winter in quite awhile now, ever since Clinique discontinued their moisturizing foundation in the Porcelain shade. Christine’s foundation matrix was pretty adament that I was NW20. I had also gotten samples of the mineralize cream foundation this winter, and the NW15 in that one is very orange, so I felt comfortable ordering the NW20. I also tried to get the Pro compact moisturizing foundation after I found out that is was available on this blog, but it has been backordered for months now. I’ll update you guys on how this wears in a few days, and I’ll try to get samples of NC15 and 20 when they arrive in the stores. In the meantime, I recently got a sample of the MUF HD foundation in 115. I previously thought this product was not for dry skin, but this sample left a nice, radiant finish. The color was not as pale as it looked in the display, it was actually quite close to perfect. Definitely cooler than this one in NW15. So that may work for those of you who are still looking for a full coverage foundation and have the skintone we are all lamenting here! Good luck all, and thank you Christine, for bringing us together.

Did a spot check at noon foundation still in place did notice I was a little oily, something I could deal with. I did purchase today. It’s now 6:21 p.m. after applying this morning at 6:30 it still looks good, nothing a little blotting can’t take care of. I’m pleased. Before applying of coursed, I moisturized and primed.

I bought the new MAC Mineralized Moisture foundatin in NC35 and I LOVE IT. About time MAC came out with a foundation for dry to normal skin, It feels amazing on my skin, great cover…Im super happy!
