NARS TV Party Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
NARS TV Party Nail Lacquer
Where’s the Remote? It’s Time for a TV Party!
NARS TV Party Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “vivid orange.” It’s a medium-dark orange with a cream finish. It’s vibrant without being neon. Nails Inc. Porchester Place is a bit less orange, almost subdued in a way. Illamasqua Gamma is brighter. Zoya Jancyn is lighter. MAC Morange is darker and more red-toned. It’s bright without being blindingly neon, and it’s not too dark. It also doesn’t have strong red undertones, so it is a bit different than some other oranges I have in my stash.
TV Party was opaque in two coats, and it was a cinch to apply: flowed evenly and fluidly across the nail without bubbling, streaking, or pooling at the edge of the nail. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it dried down faster than the average polish. It even has a glossy shine in the dried finish, so a top coat could be optional. I usually get a full week of wear or longer with NARS’ polishes–no chips, just very minor tip wear.
P.S. — Am I the only one who wanted to wear black and orange nails after seeing both shades in this collection?

Yep, NARS seems to be the Borg of nail varnishes for me: Resistance is Futile……
LOL Kafka, I know what you mean.
Me too! NARS nail polishes are the absolute crème de la crème, bar none. What a shame they couldn’t get any of the other LE products to shine as bright as this beautiful polish. Looks like I’ll be picking all these up to add to my collection. Thank goodness for Christine’s reviews! I’ll only “waste” my money on these LOL
They’re my favorite too, Constantina, bar none. I don’t even want to think of how many I have. And I’m definitely going to get most of these, with the exception of the black one (I already have NARS’ Kata which is identical) and possibly, the lemon yellow one. I’m trying my best to resist since I can’t see myself wearing yellow nail varnish frequently (or ever), but dammit, NARS’ version of it is just SO pretty! Which one is your favorite out of this lot? And which one is your favorite NARS polish ever?
I have to say that the NARS for Thakoon polishes were some of my favorites. I love Lal Mirchi and Anardana. Other than that I like Saratoga, Rebel Yell, and Rouge Andalou (I have a weak spot for reds!). I like Pokerface for the name, but I’m not crazy about the polish itself. From this collection, I might have to go with Superstar!
What about you?
I agree with you about Pokerface, Constantina. Not a huge favorite of mine. Nice choice of reds, btw! I really like Saratoga and Rouge Andalou (yum!), though I find myself usually reaching for Jungle Red or Yoshiwara (so, SO glossy!! when I opt for a red.
Speaking of reds, I’m desperately looking to find the crimson L/E “M.Butterfly” nail polish on eBay. One day, one day, it will be mine! Have you ever seen the colour? So gorgeous. Generally though, I don’t wear reds but really dark colours.
As for this collection, the one that drives me the wildest is New York Girls. For overall Favs from NARs, it would be without question the Vintage nail varnishes that were re-released a few years ago. Zulu and MASH head the list, then followed by Full Metal Jacket. But I also love Space Odyssey and Purple Rain a lot. God, Zulu and MASH …. just the names alone make my heart beat a little faster! You know, out of all my NARS polishes, only ONE has ever been difficult to put on and a huge disappointment was Night Porter. And it was the one I was most excited to get, too. Maybe I just got a dud but it makes me sad every time I think about it.
You know, it’s so, SOOOOOOOO nice to talk to another person who really knows and loves NARS nail varnishes. This has been such a treat for me! And I love your name. 🙂
And yet *another* Star Trek fan. Yay!!
Sadly for my wallet, it’s not hyperbole. Resistance has been futile for a while now when it comes to NARS’ nail varnishes. I occasionally have a few flailing moments where I pretend I’m not interested, like in the other thread with the blue Superstar colour, but it lasts all of about 10 seconds. It’s as if NARS’ Borg Queen just stares me down, saying “We WILL assimilate you! Resistance is futile…” And I collapse as my wallet magically opens. No free will. LOL!
NARS is reeling me in. I love the shades you reviewed. I might have to blow my textbook fund on this. 😛
Aww, but you really do need those textbooks 😛 I think the cost of textbooks may have been one of the most frustrating aspects of higher education.
you can rent a lot of textbooks from Barnes & Noble. >:D
I always took the first week of classes before I bought books. Then I went to the library, rented the ones I needed, and copied the chapters I needed out of them to cut down costs. I’ll take $40/semester and a couple hours lost in the library over a textbook fee any day. 😛
Wow, what a gorgeous colour! I hate when you are expected to put on about 5 layers for opacity, what a bind! It looks great against your beautiful tanned skin too. May I ask what MAC shade you tend to be? NC35 maybe?
I’m around NC30 in the summer, NC25 in the winter 🙂 I’d say I’m really like NC27.
Love it but already have Morange.
Oh my goodness, this shade is absolutely gorgeous. I swear, I’d buy all the NARS products, but I have to feed my children! Lol.
*sigh* I really hate buying a nail polish that costs $18 but these colors Nars is coming out with is really calling me. I LOVE that it dries to a glossy finish!
Is anyone getting the black flag reference here?
Yes! Thats exactly what I thought!lol
I’ve got nothing better to do…
This comment made me happy
I’m literally probably going to buy it for this reason.
This is my favorite one so far–I just love a good, bright orange!
So pretty! My sister is a polish fanatic, so I might have to grab her one of these as a gift and live vicariously through her. Shame the rest of the collection didn’t match the polishes. 🙁
I saw this polish at Sephora tonight and I did a double take because of the Black Flag reference. So tempted to snatch it up for the name alone.
We’re gonna have a TV party tonight… ALRIGHT!
