NARS Summer 2010: Love Devotion Lipstick
NARS Summer 2010 Collection featured a new lipstick called Love Devotion ($24.00), which NARS describes as a “sheer guava.” It’s a good thing they put me on notice about the color, though, because it’s definitely sheer!
Love Devotion is a sheer coral-orange with a glossy finish rather than shimmer. It evens out my natural lip color, gives them more of a orange-tinted look, but it’s definitely a sheer shade. I think those who prefer lipglosses and the ligher coverage of those may find comfort in Love Devotion, which has the same lightweight, moisturizing feel of a gloss along with the subtler color. Those who are all about the ultra-pigmented lipsticks will probably want to skip this shade.

OMG .. there is no pigmentation at all !
Great for a natural look, but maybe a bit too expensive…?
NARS has three different lipstick formulas, and I love every one of them (semi-matte in my fav though). They feel like an artists palette to me, where I can create many different effects on my “canvas” without a lot of effort.
When I want a “no makeup” look that is a better version of my own face, I always seem to reach for a NARS sheer lipstick. They wear for a long time on me too!
I do have to exchange a NARS gloss at Saks this Friday. I may try this on – I’m hoping that it’ll surprise me.
Love it. My lips are pigmented, and this is great. I like both sheer and pigmented lip looks, but find it’s much easier to whip out and reapply sheers.
I love the color, but for 24 dollars? Way too much for my teenage budget. It looks more like a tinted balm than anything. Are there any cheaper dupes for this color?

That’s super sheer. Uber sheer. Really barely there. I think I can skip it especially at that price. I’m loving Niagra thought. It looks like that in the tube but the color not sheer and perfect for summer. Top with Ophelia lipgloss and you’re good to go.

This seems like the perfect color to wear to a pool party or beachside..not too pigmented and will keep your lips moist with a hint of color..I’m definitely buying this one

Looks like NARS pulled the same trick as Chanel with the flourescent glossimers.

I kind of preferred the smashbox sheer formula.
Sheer is sometimes nice, however I don’t think this one’s worth shelling out $24…

Sheer? Theres zero colorpayoff but sheer s a nice way of putting it. For 24 bucks? Im leaving it!

I’m so glad that you posted this because I am considering getting this. I saw that the teenvogue.com the Beauty Blog section featured Blake Lively’s Met Ball looked and this was the colour they chose for her lips. I am obsessed with Blake Lively (and NARS!) so these swatches definitely helps me see what it’s like. Thanks!

it looks so lovely in the tube. too bad that lovely color doesn’t transfer to the lips. the color is soooo gorgeous. why didn’t people at nars think to make it more opaque? why oh why ??
The color of the lipstick itself is yummy. But when I saw the swatches, it’s quite disappointing. I want to see more color from it. But not what I expected.. 🙁
