NARS Madness Nail Polish Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Madness Nail Polish ($19.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “electric orange.” It’s a brightened, medium orange with a jelly finish–it has a squishy, slightly translucent quality to the way it looks and applies that is very true to the jelly finish. NARS TV Party is darker and a true cream. Illamasqua Gamma is a bit brighter and also a true cream.

It has semi-opaque color payoff after two coats, and the opacity was consistent of what is expected of a jelly finish (and part of what makes a jelly, well, a jelly!). It has a thicker, squishy look that gives it a plushness. Madness actually looks like candy corn on my longer nails, because the white tips turn to a lighter, more tangerine orange, while the rest of the nail is a deeper orange!   The consistency is on the thicker side (but normal for a jelly), and it flowed well across the nail without bubbling, streaking, or pooling along the edges. NARS’ formula wears very well on me, as it is one of the longer-wearing formulas I’ve come across, and I get a full seven days of wear with very minor tip wear but no chipping.

Oh no! I am going to have to get this! I just read that pastels are in and that bold colors are out this season, but it doesnt seem to be the case with what the HE brands are releasing

I can’t figure out if I like it or not- after you mentioned your nails looking like candy corn, its all I see when I look at the pictures. I will have to think this one over.

I honestly feel silly saying this but I feel like singing. I’ve been looking for this *exact* color of orange for months and months now. Thank you for posting pictures, my life is complete 😀

Mary Quant used to make that juicy orange candy nail polish. I have been searching for a replacement since MQ retreated from my home country. Guess I may check this one out to see if I may end my search??

I’ve tested one OPI laquer so far, that had this almost jelly form and jelly feel. The color is more reddish (i like it more) but sadly one coat is not enough – color applies uneven. Two coats are ok but still no revelation. And I don’t get long wear (about two-three days, but I’m washing dishes and stuff and not being extra careful). All i noticed about OPI laquers is that you have to have luck to get good one. About half of the colours I’ve tested (from about 15) was under average quality.
