NARS Catfight Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “nude mauve.” It has a semi-matte finish, which is supposed to yield full color coverage, be long-wearing, and moisturizing from the inclusion of conditioners and antioxidants. I don’t know if I’d use the word “nude” to describe this color. It’s a pink-plum with a subtle, cool undertone running through it. The finish is decidedly semi-matte–it has the look of a matte overall but there’s a little sheen there, and the sheen is still visible from afar. MAC Hot Gossip is pinker and glossier but similar in color.
NARS’ Semi-Matte Lipstick formula wears four to six hours on me, and when I wore Catfight out for errands, it wore welll for four hours and needed reapplication at five. It’s unscented and tasteless to me. I don’t find it hydrating; it’s not as drying as some matte finishes are, but it’s not comfortable to wear for longer than three hours. I had strong urges to apply balm by that point!

I always go for the NARS Sheer formulation, because they are moisturizing.
They have some opaque lipsticks that are moisturizing, just not this one!
Cute! I’ve always passed this color up thinking it was nothing special but it is really beautiful. Shame about the wear but I can deal with it for this color! Good thing there’s a VIB event at my sephora today!

This is my “go-to” dusky pink lipstick (at least it looks that way on me, I’m *very* fair). I discovered it years ago at Sephora and wear it with MAC’s plum lipliner. Sometimes I use NARS lipgloss in “Female Trouble” over it. When MAC released that “Pink Cult” blush, I discovered that it’s PERFECT for it! I used to wear Benefit’s Dandelion with it, which also looks great, but Pink Cult is great!

This looks so pretty on you! How do you get lipsticks and glosses to last for hours on your lips? I am lucky if I get a half hour, and that is across the board.
Nothing special – that is just the product by itself, no lip liner, primer, concealer, foundation, etc. No tricks, just applied onto lips. I notice that a lot of my friends lick their lips, press them together, move them around, etc. – they are fussing with their lips. I don’t do these things so maybe that’s why?

after i started paying attention to this kind of ‘moves’ i performed with my lips and just stopped doing that, my lipstick lasts much longer now!

This is a beautiful color, but I haven’t purchased another lipstick from NARS since Mayflower. I find their lippie formulas to be very drying and they tend to cake versus fading with wear. I love NARS and wish they would do something to fix the drying factors in their lipstick line.
I find some shades are just fine, but some shades are not 🙁 Consistency is really important!

I tried a couple of NARS lipsticks in person after I saw swatches here and I really don’t like their formula. At least for the ones I tried, they were very drying and the way they fade is not pleasant. It feels like they ‘pill’ or something. Just gross. But this is a beautiful colour!

If I recall correctly, it was Niagara and Schiap! There was one more but I can’t remember the name of the other one (perhaps Roman Holiday?), unfortunately. I do have dry lips to begin with so perhaps they just don’t agree with me.
Ooh, that is too bad! I could see that, though – my lips are about so-so, not really dry but they WILL get dry if I use certain lipsticks!

This is a nice color I really like I have not tried any nars lipsticks I have only Mac ones right now do you think the nars are worth the almost extra 10 dollars?
Sometimes but not all the time – NARS’ lipstick formula is not my favorite for high-end, so while other lipsticks are worth it, not this particular one.
I really like NARS’ lipsticks and this color is gorgeous… Seeing as how I’ve been looking for a good pink, I am definitely going to check this one out! Too bad about it not being moisturizing, I’ve had pretty good luck with their lipsticks across the board. I don’t mind using lip balm with lipsticks, though, so this may be workable for me.
If you use balm underneath, it should be okay — especially if you’ve used their other lipsticks without problems!
This one got something. Hmmmm…. it really special. But I am hopeless, I cannot stand the drying formula of the NARS lipsticks. And they have so nice colurs, it is a shame!

This reminds me alot of my Nars matte Montego Bay which is my all time favorite lippie. Speaking of lipsticks, have you tried the new Revlon Lip Butters?? oh my stars… seriously amazing. Blew my Chanel Coco Rouge Shine out of the water. Just ask Musings 🙂

I’d say Mehr isn’t really so plum – Mehr being more neutral almost!

I just picked up this lipstick from Sephora like a week ago because it looked really pretty on me. I have to agree with the drying part, but it can be solved with application of good hydrating lip balm. I’m very pale with neutral to somewhat cool tone.

I could totally see the name being a turnoff!
It remind me of Heavenly by Cover Girl Lip Perfection but i think the nars one has more of a sheen..
