I’ve only got 2 cream-type blushes – both from Clarins – and I like them both. I also have a freebie Benefit Cha Cha tint – that stuff is awful. Not only is the colour Bozo the Clown orange but it leaves stains before you can blend it in.

Most overrated cream blush : M.A.C cremeblend good but greasy
Most underrated : M.A.C casual ( summer 2012 ), lighter and also a tinted lipbalm.

Sunny Avatar

My answer to the most underrated is the same with yours, Christine! I would also argue that after Le Metier de Beaute everything else seems way too thick, sticky, and overrated haha

JEN Avatar

Most Overrated: NARS Multiples and Maybelline mousse.

Most Underrated: NYX!! Great pigmentation and colors. Staying power is a little off but I love how this blends so beautifully in the skin. The price is great too.

Overrated: Mac Creme Blend Blush, they are not only heavy and greasy but very hard to blend.
Make Up For Ever Hd Blushes! I had really high hopes for that one and it turned out to be very disappointing, the packaging is a nightmare, the pump even with the tiniest push gives you way to much product, a lot goes to waste… the blush itself has a very thick texture its very hard to work with, and it dries way too fast. it was very pricey but looks like clown make up 🙁

Underrated: I havent tried that many cream blushes, but I was very satisfied with Giorgio Armani’s Blushing Fabric, it works like a charm, great texture, easy to blend, beautiful colors, but I dont think its overrated 🙂

I don’t usually comment on these things, but I had to give a shout out to my newly-favourite cream blush

Overrated- MAC. awful.

Underrated- Clarins Instant Light Blush

Isn’t it wonderful? I’ve got the Vitamin Pink shade and can’t believe how terrific it is and the lovely glow it has, so it’s almost like a blush and highlighter in one.

Katherine Avatar

Not sure about overrated but underrated Definitely Topshop cream blushers! The texture is velvety smooth and the colours very fresh and pigmented.

Most Overrated: I agree with you on the Nars Multiples. They don’t show up on my skin very well at all AND they don’t last long at all. Plus, I find the cream-to-powder texture a little hard to blend over foundation, but maybe that’s just me…

Most Underrated: I’m not sure I’ve found a cream blush that I LOVE yet–but then, I haven’t tried many. I didn’t even try them til the last year or so because I have oily skin and I always thought “what’s the point?”. I have always wanted to try the LMdB Creme Fresh Tints though, so I will definitely grab Ginger Lily now that you’ve recommended it

I’ve also gotta go with NARS multiples for overrated. I’m not much of a believer in multi-tasking products anyway.

I’ve got a tie for underrated:

1. ELF cream-to-powder blushes. I know these are hit and miss, but these are amazing. They are super pigmented, easily blendable, and the colors and texture are lovely!

2. Urban Decay Afterglow Cheek Tints. UD gets a lot of press for their shadows, but these blushes are really fantastic.

Overrated: Unsure! I’ve never tried one that I disliked.

Underrated: Make Up For Ever’s HD blushes! They’re so buildable and easy to use. NYX’s aren’t bad, but the pigmentation is lacking on some of them, so they can blend out to nothing if you aren’t careful.

Overrated: Mac Creme Blushes…definitely not the best.
Underrated; ELF CREAM BLUSHES. They are some of the best you can find and at an affordable price!

Alana Avatar

overrated: mac. too sticky and impossible to blend. makes me look like a clown
underrated: revlon, nyx, and ysl. they are so smooth, easy to blend, and long lasting!

Espe Barajas Avatar

overrated: maybelline bouncy blush. i’m not a fan of drugstore makeup, but the name and the hype, even from clients, persuaded me to get a couple. wow…was i horrified…you have to very fair for them to show up, as you blend they disappear, they do not last, and are overall awful.
underrated: nars cream blush. they are easier to work with than the multiples. there are some beautiful colors, including cactus flower, my absolute favorite cream blush.

Veronica Avatar

I haven’t tried the new formulation, but I loved the old Maybelline cream mousse blush. It lasted hours on me. I was pretty sad to see it discontinued in favor of the new Bouncy blushes. However, I do agree that that shades seemed better suited for lighter complexions, which is a shame.

Most Overrated: NYX Rouge Cream Blush. I usually am a big fan of NYX, but you can over blend these to the point of nothingness. They also don’t last all day on me, which means I have to reapply them. Hate that!

Most Underrated: MUFE HD Microfinish Blush! I tried samples of these in three different shades, and they are sooooo pigmented and last all day even on my combo/oil skin. I hated cream blushes until I tried these. I would love to own some of these, but the only thing holding me back is the price. They are so expensive! =/ I prefer powder blusher, but if I ever make the switch to cream, these are the ones I’ll be using!

Most overrated would be the cheek stains; I never manage to blend them quickly enough bu I don’t think it qualifies as a cream either

Most underrated for me would be Nars multiple- It stays on me but My skin is drier and more fair that Christine’s. I also love Sephora brand Cream blush, I don’t remember the name but it’s a bright reddish pink, It blends easily and stays put.
I do set my makeup with at least a transparent powder and then spray it or use a damp BeautyBlender sponge to loose the powdery look.

Phyrra Avatar

Overrated – I’m honestly not sure. Some of the stick ones I’ve tried?
Underrated – Tarina Tarantino. I really love the one cream blush I have by her and think it’s fantastic. I like Urban Decay’s cream blush, too, but I think people talk about that one at least.

Winni Avatar

Overrated: Nars cream blushes and multiples. I love the way Cactus Flower looked on me, but it had disappeared within an hour. 🙁

Underrated: I am very pleasantly surprised by ELF’s cream blushes! They are cream to powder and they last all day on my oily skin, even if I don’t set with powder! They remind me of YSL creme blushes-same exact feel!

Ava Avatar

Most Overrated: NARS multiple: it doesn’t last long for me too…and $40 is too much for me
Most underrated: Clinique blushwear cream stick: looks so natural, love cream blushes, and I use it with a skunk brush.

MUFE HD blush… i’m neutral with that.

Kelly Avatar

Most overrated: Haven’t personally tried any cream blushes that I feel are overrated.
Most underrated: Illamasqua and Topshop cream blushes are really good and I especially don’t ear that much about the Topshop ones.

Jill Avatar

I love cream blushes, but I love the first one I tried- Bobbi Brown pot rouge(underrated, but gaining ground). I just cant bring myself to use it on my lips, as recomended. I also love Chantecaille creme cheek in shy .It comes in the most teeny tiny silver compact and it contains peach and/or lilly bulb extracts.Do they really make it better?= (Overrated).

Probably because of my oily skin, cream blush never seems to stay too long on me. But if I have to pick the worst one is unfortunately Tarte Cheek Stain (any color). I tried to love it sooooo much, I tried so hard but it just never shows on my face let along stay on it!
The best one is not for me to decide (again because of skin condition) but I am very happy with Nars’s cactus flower when I use it (Thanks to @Kafka) 🙂
