Moira Electra, Flare, Nova, Rhea Multichrome Gel Liners Reviews & Swatches

Electra
Moira Electra Supernova Multichrome Gel Liner ($6.00 for 0.01 oz.) had a more translucent base with multichrome shimmer that shifted from warmer peach to gold to greenish-gold, though the shifts were fairly weak.
- Semi-sheer pigmentation, hard to build up evenly
- Emollient, smooth, creamy–seemed too creamy for an even application
- Weaker multichrome shift
- Pencil prone to smushing and pushing around product when building
- Long-wearing (8.5 hours before thinning visibly)

Top Dupes
- ColourPop Sweetzer Ave (P, $12.00) is less shimmery (95% similar).
- ColourPop Glaze (P, $12.00) is less shimmery, more pigmented (95% similar).
- Terra Moons Solar Flare (P, $17.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar).
Formula Overview
$6.00/0.01 oz. - $600.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "waterproof, smudge-proof, and transfer-resistant" with a "creamy texture." There did not seem to be a specific indication of pigmentation, but the promotional swatches make them appear opaque, which is typical for eyeliner. This is a multichrome finish-based formula, though I found that some shades had less obvious shifts and appeared more like good duochromes than decent multichromes as a result.
The texture felt smooth, lightly creamy, and comfortable to work with as it glided across my skin, but it did not deliver smooth results as the product itself often bunched up in places and did not build up well. I felt like, overall, it was a bit too emollient. I'd recommend using a stiff pencil brush to blend and smooth out the eyeliner after the initial laydown of product.
Most shades had more semi-sheer to medium coverage, which often did not build up that well as additional layers pushed around the first layer and resulted in an uneven result. They took a bit longer than average to dry down, but once they did, they were fairly long-wearing at 8-9 hours on me.

I don’t think any other brands who create multichromes have tried to use a gel liner fomula like Moira has done. And I don’t think it really works either. I quite like the shade colours – especially Flare.
While I do like Flare as something that could make using PMG Sextraterrestrial really POP on the lower lashline, these just don’t quite touch the far superior quality of the ones by Kaleidos. A few of the pale ones from the other day are useful for my inner corner, though.
This post is exactly why I love your reviews and comparisons Christine!! Rhea is beautiful and looks the most consistent of the shades here but it still looks a bit patchy. I’ve been eyeing a few Moira products because the colors are pretty and the pricing is very reasonable, I considered these duo chrome pencils before splurging on a few of the Danessa Myricks infinite chrome pencils. The downsides for both are they’re finicky to work with and need careful application, I suspect this is because duo chrome products are more challenging to produce than say a basic shimmer or metallic. I’m very happy with the DM pencils I purchased because even though they’re pricey, they’re not patchy and the colors and shift are consistent. : )
Kaleidos’ have the best multichrome eyeliners I’ve tried, though I have not tried that many! Here’s hoping that we’ll see better formulas in the next year, though!
