Milani Baked Metallic Eyeshadow: Drenched in Gold

Milani Drenched in Gold Baked Metallic Eyeshadow ($7.49 for 0.05 oz.) is a softened yellow gold with a metallic sheen.  It reminded me a lot of MAC’s Goldmine, which is a staple eyeshadow for me.  I liked the way this looked both wet and dry–there really wasn’t much of a difference-so it is more convenient to use.  It applied smoothly and had good color pay off with no fall out.

I do wish they’d ditch the sponge/brush applicator, though, because the bristles are splayed and scratchy, while the sponge is thin and surprisingly scratchy. I did like the switch to a black interior, over the champagne gold from the Runway Eyeshadows. The lid is also quite secure, and I had to pry it open with my nails.

Milani’s really hitting home-run after home-run with these, huh? I bought I Heart You yesterday because of your review, and I really love it!

Are the swatches on your hand/arm wet/dry vs. as the titles show dry/wet? Looks more like wet on the right because it’s more intense. And yes, very close dup to MAC goldmine which has been an all time staple for me as well. I do well with gold shadows as you do. Maybe it’s the CA gal in both of us? Certainly our coloring could not be farther apart! Great price for this brand too over the MAC. I never use the apps that come with most products. I have my own fav pro brushes I use. I would feel goofy and lost trying to apply with anything but my own brushes. That said – in the past year I have managed to leave 2 fav brushes behind in hotel bathrooms on check out! Darn it! I need to use my brush roll and always put them back into it soon as I use them. But I always do pack up my brushes and make up for the housekeeping to come in – I don’t want them touching my stuff. It seems to always be if I loose something, it’s that last pack up on departure..my travel pillow that I use at home as well – too many times left behind as well…but always on the brushes they are ones no longer made! Pillows I can replace!

What is with Milani and those curved, gross, and scratchy application brushes?? Step it up already! That said, this is a gorgeous color. I’d probably use it as a highlighter, too, like MAC’s New Vegas MSF.

I have this in the green color and my friend has the green and this one and at first we thought we were doomed to fall out but alas La Splash makes a splash proof primer that holds on glitter shadow like no other. Of course you have to be precise where you want the shadow and apply the primer only to that area because once its on it will not budge! And the pigmentation of these shadows is doubled easily.
